I'm an XL in all TNF jackets except this one. XL is way too big so L fits better but the ribbed waste hem ruins both sizes. It either makes the jacket look oversized and sloppy or it's too small and rises up the waste but won't come back down. If they made this jacket with a typical cinch corded hem at the waste, it would be a no brainer at the current price. The zipper and buttons also aren't the highest quality but the jacket looks nice. Also, the hand pockets aren't the best. Why not have them go in behind the insulation? I think the design needs an update. I don't think it's a coincidence that the Gotham III is available everywhere in 99% of size and color options 3 days before Xmas (even at a deep $75 discount). All that said, if you can find the proper fit, it's definitely worth having in the closet. I hope they update the jacket (get rid of the ribbed waste hem) for Winter 20/21.

Great jacket. Today was in the 20s in NYC and I stayed out with only a light shirt underneath. Very warm. But like another commenter mentioned, the cuffs are too wide and you are constantly needing to pull it down.

I'm 6'7, athletic build. The trunk is very roomy. You can wear all the layers you want. Though, the sleeves are short. Apart from that, it looks very well made and it's super warm.

They parka that I bought was really and right for its price But the only issue was for the sizing, I wear medium size clothing and the parka was also size medium and it's to big.

Agreed with previous comments on how large and bulky this runs. I'm 6 foot tall 185lbs and I feel lost in this coat. The picture is also very misleading. The jacket I received has a white North Face logo and the fur clearly has more of a brown tint. Will be returning.

It's a very basic jacket. Neither technical nor fashionable, in fact it's kind of drab. I bought it because it was half price and it's really not worth much more. It will keep you warm on most winter days and won't leave you covered in feathers like cheaper down filled jackets. The side pockets lack zippers so your valuables never really feel secure in there. The fit is a little bulky in the gut making you look like you packed on 15 lbs during winter. The hood is too large and fits poorly.

Great jacket, built like a tank and love the neck gator. Wish the hood was more adjustable, but it is limited to tightening it and not. The real issue with this jacket is the sizing. It's huge. Sleeves are long and the length of the torso is long. I'm usually a medium, but the small fits me better. Not well, but better. The problem with this jacket is that it seems to be cut for people with huge beer bellies. I'm no fitness model, far from it. I have a belly of my own and some residual muscles from when I work out every once in a while. But the armholes are relatively too small compared with the circumference of the stomach area. The armhole to waist ratio is too small.

Received coat as gift from wife. It was too big so ventured out to store in king of Prussia mall In Pennsylvania to exchange for smaller size. I called the store before i went to confirm they had it and they did. I received another coat the mcmurdo. Well that coat was on sale for 30% off, and salesperson wouldn't give me the discount. I like this coat very much but I'm giving a mediocre rating simply because I don't feel I was accommodated. I am keeping the coat but won't be dealing with this store again.

5'9" 180 and a medium was so bulky was not comfortable. Maybe a smaller size and if you live up north it's great.

Bought this for the winter. Love the green color. It came and tried it on and step outside. It's extremely Warm and protect from the wind but it was too big. Wish they made those in a tall size. Returned since no large was available. Looking for a spring/rain jacket now.

While this jacket is warm af, it is very large for TNF sizing. I am 5'7" 135 and the XS was still huge on me. It was huge in the waist, really long for the style, and the sleeves were also too long. Another con is that the front pockets are not behind the down filling. Instead they have no warmth protection at all making them kind of useless because you're wearing this jacket to stay warm. So if you put anything like a phone or your hand in the pockets, they won't be warm at all. Looks cool, but just needs to be more modern fit.

So far, so good. I did not like that it was on sale (almost 100US$) almost 1 week after purchase. You should think about that and the bad feeling it leaves in people that spent the extra money.

Jacket is warm, comfortable and looks nice. Unfortunately the pockets are too small for gloves with any insulation, so your core is warm but your hands are cold. In addition the pockets button close instead of zipper which is not very functional and it's harder to secure items. Also the main zipper is poor.

I am 6' 2, 170, so fairly tall and thin with an athletic frame. I used the online sizing guide and specified a slimmer fit and it recommended a large. Maybe if I put on about 50 pounds it would be close to fitting. I look like a kid wearing his dad's coat in this thing. Obviously will be returning but not sure I will even try the medium. Usually the problem there is the arms and bottom are too short if the large is too big.

I love the coat, but a snap broke off after a few wears. I'm absolutely livid with Northface, as their only "fix" for this was to send it in for 8 weeks to be fixed (missing the entire winter). They didn't have any other coats like it in stock, which is also ridiculous.

Just bought this coat and I might be returning it already. When the wind is at your back the fur snapped onto the hood funnels wind directly onto your ears and into the hood. A zipper could have easily prevented this while the 3"gaps between the snaps pump cold into the hood. I'm stuck wearing glasses so I wanted a parka to help keep snow and rain off them but this just freezes my ears and head and that's not an acceptable trade-off considering we get -10/-35 below up here.

Hardly compares to the McMurdo Parka. Like night and day. The Gotham is poorly and unevenly filled. Material is lesser quality all the way around compared to the McMurdo. Even the faux fur hood is skimpy and flat and poorly designed. The Gotham is a major disappointment compared to the McMurdo. Sadly, I ordered 2 Gotham Jackets. I will probably give them away and keep wearing my Utility Brown McMurdo. Perhaps lower quality and inferior standards are the new way.

Pretty much every down jacket I've seen has cells to keep insulation even. This jacket has no cells, so overtime all of my jacket's fill has ended up around the waist. My waist is super puffy but there is no insulation in my shoulders and little around my chest. I've tried fluffing it back up, storing it in a bag instead of hanging, but nothing can restore it.

If you ever plan on using a hood, don't buy this coat. The hood might as well not be there, it's a waste of material. My ears constantly freeze because I'd rather have them frozen then wear this awful hood. Can't stress it enough.

After returning a Kuhl brand winter jacket because of sleeve length I decided to look more. I tried a Marmot in store and others. When this came in I wasn't enthused. I was right not to be. The sleeves are too short but the NF size app says this is what I should wear. I'm an old man. This was going to be the last coat I bought in my life. Now I have to think about that some more. Disappointed.

I live in Wisconsin and as I get older, I get colder. I had a Gotham I Jacket for 15-20 years old until the zipper finally fell off. At the North Face store they were nice enough to send it in to have the zipper repaired, but said it would take 6-8 weeks. In the mean time I ended up purchasing a Gotham III jacket. I bought the X-Large as the sleeves on the XXL were too long. For reference, I'm 5' 7" and 220 lbs. I wear a heavy weight base layer with an additional fleece layer on top. With the jacket on it's snug in the sides and arm movement is restricted. Even with the base layers this jacket will not keep me warm below 15 degrees and that's with no wind blowing. Very disappointed at the performance and fit of the jacket. They've also changed the zippers from a a large heavy duty metal zipper on my original Gotham to cheap smaller plastic zipper on the new Gotham. I've had it two weeks and wanted to return it but was told since it has been worn I can't return it even though it's in perfect condition.
