When I needed a new pair of shoes to walk with my Border Collies I looked for light weight, waterproof, good traction, and conservative appearance. The Merrell Forestbound waterproofs seemed to fit the bill. I purchased a pair of size 14s and have been wearing them every day for a few weeks now. The evaluation of larger than expected is a positive reflection of the roomy toebox area. No pinching! The shoes were comfortable from the start and provide good support. It's been unusually wet this summer in Northern Michigan and the waterproofing is a real boon to our walks.
The low-cut design of the Forestbound disqualifies them for heavy duty hiking, but they are great for trail hikes of 4 or 5 miles and grocery store trips.
Haven't had them long enough to comment on longevity.
One last thing. The laces stay tied.
My dogs and my Dogs are happy.

I walk all day long at work. If I don't wear the right shoe, I feel every step. These are the Michelin tire of footwear. They absorb every bit of shock no matter how hard I walk, regardless how much weight I carry. The black shoe looks great with all my khaki pants and dress shirts. Perfectly fine for work. I only buy Merrell because they deliver.

My Forestbound Waterproof hiking shoes fit perfectly and are very comfortable and versatile on city streets or offroad paths. For quality, lightness, and style, they are a great choice. I've owned other Merrell shoes and continue to be pleased with my purchases.

Fine for kicking around - I still depend on the Moabs for serious hiking.

The shoe does seem to resist spills and light water have yet to try them in snow.
The tread does get slippery in a wet environment and u have to be cautious of how u step

I like these a lot for their comfort and ease to slip on and off. Their durability doesn't seem to be the best. I've had them for about 6 months of heavy use and they're beginning to come apart.

Great shoes......well worth the price. However, selling shoes with shoe strings 12" too long on both ends, is a bit ridiculous.

Shoe runs a little big and there is a little extra material inside that folds over and creates extra friction

Very pleased with the ordering process and delivery. There is a slight gap where the sole meets the upper on the toe of the right shoe. Not sure if it is serious.

Bought these for my 16 y/o son who has wide feet. Apparently these run extra wide in the heel, so I am returning them. Otherwise they were fine.

I started by ordering a month ago -- the light men's garden shoo. I wanted a light weight shoe -- it was perfectly what I wanted. So I then ordered this hiking shoe.
I was not disappointing. They are so nice... I am afraid to wear them... I don't want to ruin them by getting mud on them -- ha ha. I'll wear them a lot after this COVID-19 "FEAR" crap stops.

I am a Chameleon wearer from the start. I needed something for work so i don't prematurely wear out the heels. These are a nice sturdy and comfortable fit(all day on concrete.) Had to get used to laces again!
I will be getting the new Chameleons for the weekend.
These are my new work shoe, always great products from Merrell.

Initially the were very stiff and tight around my ankles. I left the shoe guard in placeand they loosened up over time. The second attempt felt much better. I walk a lot and live in NYC. I wanted a rugged shoe for the rain and snow or just cold weather. I guess the verdict is still out for now.

My personal experience with walking through ankle high, wet grass was shoes saturated. Feet squished with every step. Took over a day to dry out with a fan.

Good overall design but having considerable flow consisting in lack of support for the heel due to lack of supporting leather. The leather must be overall and high enough on the heel to support it. The heel is not steady fixed (goes up and down) due to the soft plastic material. Otherwise the sole, insole and the front of the boot are OK. Gortex for the inner material will be much better.

In person they look like hikers an older gentleman would wear on his weekend stroll through the woods. Pretty stiff out of the box and now that the leather is breaking in they fit really large. Tried a pair of Merrell in a different shoe half size smaller that they were too tight. These are a different fit. Bought them for work so the aesthetics is no big deal, but they definitely feel sloppy on my foot.

Not bad but a bit hot and uncomfortable. I probably shouldn't have gotten a solid fabric because I really wanted something that Arizona well since I'm hiking in the heat often, and when I put it on it just felt flat and not really part of my body. That said it seemed fine overall and I will be buying the moav 2 I think it's called after the return goes through. Thank you

Bulky and horrible insole -take foot out. Cheap paper insole comes with it. And bends. And remembers said bend. I need some super feet or new insoles.

Bought these as walking shoes prior to a vacation. Within days, the insoles began sliding backwards to the point that they we almost coming out of the back of the shoe and needed to be replaced. Three weeks in, averaging about 20K steps a day, on mostly city streets and three days of light trail hiking, the rubber toe is already separating from the leather. These are otherwise, great looking and comfortable shoes, but they just don't hold up the way my other pairs of Moabs have held up for years.
