I have worn these for about 20k of hiking on uneven terrain with changing elevations in damp weather and found them extremely comfortable out of the box and the grip and support in amazing. I would definitely recommend these boots!

I took these to Fairbanks, Alaska for a week and they were fantastic! These boots were warm, snug, waterproof, supportive, and provided excellent grip on the snowy/icy terrain. I am thrilled with my purchase and would recommend them to anyone!

This is my 2nd pair of Merrell Thermo Chill boots because I love them so much! First pair lasted about 3 years of abuse walking on broken glass/ screws/ scrap sheet metal almost daily. (I work at window company and our dumpster area is not always swept the best) I have owned several other name brand "waterproof" boots in the past and these Merrill's are truly the only boots that keep my feet completely dry and cozy! Even in our harsh Michigan winters. They're also the only ones I didn't need to upgrade insoles as they are very comfortable right out of the box and throughout the years! True to size and don't feel heavy, I wore my first pair everyday 3 seasons of the year. Only bummer for me is they're a bit too warm to wear during hot summer months, which really isn't a downfall at all. Just means I need to find a comparable non insulated Merrell boot for the summer!

A great all around winter boot.
I used these boots exclusively, hiking to over 20 peaks this winter, 18 of which were on the NH 48 list.
They stayed dry, provided good traction, and a decent level of warmth. They also worked well with snowshoes, and microspikes.
Light crampons fit on them, however I never actually needed to use them.

Great shoes. I bought them for my son. His only wish was that they had a boa tie like his last snow shoes. Other than that they were great in the snow.

Owned a pair now for four maybe five winters. As stated I bought these to replace a pair of The North Face Boots which were excellent but not made anymore. They are great! Warm but not "super" warm which I like for my use. Comfortable. Keep my feet dry in snow/slush and quite good grip. I double knot the laces to keep them tight. I just bought a second pair (black) to replace my old (brown)Thermo Chills. My old pair are still fine except the sole is wearing out. The outside rear and middle front of my soles always go first on all my footwear. I feel these boots would be next to perfect winter all round wearing/hiking boots if the sole was Vibram as Vibram soles (in general) seem to last longer. I wear my boots walking everywhere and trail hiking a lot on my own time and at work. They see between ten to twenty kilometers most days because of the nature of my work where I walk roads and the East Coast Trails in Newfoundland. I bet if these boots had Vibram soles like my "hiking" boots the Thermo Chills would last at least two more years. I use my boots a lot but do take care of them and don't abuse them. Suitable winter boot for my normal, somewhat flat, low volume size foot. A great choice for this type of boot.

Pros: comfort out of the box. Good, lightweight traction in light snow.
Cons: Zero traction on ice. Not especially warm.

I'm not sure if the boots I received are defective or not,but the spot there the tongue connects to the side of the shoe digs into my ankle. Quite disappointing. Wore the to work today so I'm not sure if they can be returned.

I feel it was narrower and uneven or slightly high at toes(near little finger). Not comfortable for that reason.

I bought the slightly higher version of this boot last winter.
Would have returned then because of faulty lacing: slippery laces and no hook at the top of lace-up.
I needed them then so kept them. They turned out to be comfortable and warm with decent socks in a variety of winter conditions including snow, ice, rain and puddles. Temps down to teens.
After the latest cold and snow period when thing turned slushy, then wet, the right boot was no longer waterproof and my foot was soaked after a 45 minute walk in the rain. Im very disappointed and caught in the middle of winter using my GTX non insulated boots for the milder conditions.
The boots are otherwise still in good shape

i was looking for a replacement of older Merrells that I loved, but these new ones were very cheply built. The first pair I ordered had a manufacturing issue where the liner abovevthe toes created an uncomfortable ridge on the left shoe. The second pair of these was better, but it gave the impression that over time that issue could start as well. I returned the second pair as well and went for other shoes.

This is a second pair of merrills I bought. Best looking boots I've ever owned but absolutely 0% waterproof. Don't wear Merrell if you want to keep your feet dry

I should've listened to the review that said these were pointy in the toebox. I have narrow feet and they're still uncomfortable.
There are also horrible pressure points at the front of the ankle right on nearly bare bone.
Basically, very un-Merrell like.
