I honestly did not expect to like these boots, because the heel was slightly higher than I was looking for, but they are fabulous. Also tried Frye, Taos, Timberland, and Pikolinos, but Sorel wins for having a great footbed and arch support, with an ankle I can lace up to be snug fit to skinny ankles on narrow, flat feet. Taos Crave fit more snugly, but I felt like I was walking on the arch support, where my weight is much better distributed off the arch in these boots. Great fit across the top for narrow feet—I am definitely not moving side-to-side when walking and I'm not pronating when I walk. These are perfect, and the steampunky style with the rings instead of eyelets and striped chunky heel is a lot of fun. Glad to still look fashionable while having a dressier boot than a hiking boot. I'm a size 10 and a size 10 fits! By the way, if you are also looking for a hiking boot and have the same issues, try Lowa Renegade GTX in a hiking boot. It's been my go-to boot for 20 years.

The Cate Lace is beautifully made. The leather is high quality and pliable enough to be comfortable from day one. The detailed stitching is meticulously done. The fit is better than any boot I have bought in recent years. My ankles are slender and these lace to give as much support as my skating boots. The block heel and tread are stable and comfortable all day. I hesitated because the heel is an inch higher than I would usually think of buying in this type of boot, but it’s definitely no problem. The striated wood look of the heels and the brass lacing eyelets are nice touches. They’re practical, stylish, and fun. So glad I got them.

When I tell you I read just about ALL the reviews to figure out if I should order a half size up or not, I truly think I really ALL the reviews. Both here and on Sorel's website, haha. I landed on getting my true size of 8 (I am an 8 always, exception of my hiking boots which are known to run small and I put thick socks in). The only instance I could see needing a half size up would be if you have wide feet. And even so, the leather is very nice (I got the black ones) and will very clearly stretch to your feet. I have narrower feet and they fit flawlessly with zero break in time. (Truly, zero. I am floored by how comfortable they are... moreso than most of my flats! And I don't wear heels.) I wanted them to be just big enough to fit a medium weight wool sock in (Michigan winters are brutal) and there is absolutely enough room for that. But if you had wide feet and wanted a thicker sock, probably go a half up. But isn't this the case with all boots? I feel like there are a lot of reviewers on here who haven't purchased good boots before, ha. For my feet though, had a gone a half size up, my feet would have been sliding around a half size up unless I always had a thick sock (which I don't want in the summer) but my true size seems the perfect spot for my sock needs in any weather. And as an added note, they are even more sleek looking than the photos. I pulled them out of the box and said "Oooooo!" out loud. Gorgeous boots. Could easily dress them up. (I'm pairing with a long flowy floral dress!) And the sole is solid. Our back steps are notoriously slippery and I got them on a rainy day. The grip actually shocked me it was so great. Anyhow GET THEM! I almost bought another identical pair right away because I want them to last forever.

The leather of this boot is very soft and pretty - I don't think there will be a long break-in period. There is a little tag on the boot that says it's waterproof, which I'm very curious about, as it does not have a waterproof look/feel to it. In the Sorel Major Carly (no longer available), I wear a 9.5, which I tried in the Cate Lace - but did end up sending it back to get the 10 so that I can be sure it will be comfortable with thicker socks in the winter. The stacked block heel feels very stable.

Order one up from your true size. I ordered a 8.5 when normally where an 8 and fits perfect

I was so excited to receive these boots, and the fit is perfect. They are soft, stylish and the heel height makes walking comfortable, not to high or low. My feet are not tired at the end of the day because the sole of the shoe absorbs a lot of impact, if you are a runner like me and your feet need to be well taken care of this is a shoe for you.

I normally wear an 8.5 and bought both 8.5 and 9, and the 9 was perfect. Very comfortable.

i love these boots! when i ordered these i thought they could go one way or another - either very drab looking work boots or adorable combat boot style. and these were even better than i thought! they are extremely comfortable and the leather is so soft. I got the dark brown and they are the perfect color to go with everything. they also are a style that could be more dressed up or go with a super casual look. i just got them and have already worn them almost everyday. my normal size is an 8.5/9 and for me, with all sorel, i have to go with a 9 for a perfect fit. highly recommend!

Loved these boots -- such a great style!! But sadly I had to return the because they were just so tight in the toe box, I knew they'd be painful for longs days walking in the city. I normally wear a 5.5-6 (lately, a 6), but even the 6.5 was too small. It not only felt tight, but when I compared it to a size 6 in a similar Born boot I own, it was literally at least 1/4" shorter, in a 6.5, than the other boot was in a 6!!

My sister has these in brown and I love them. However, I agree with another reviewer that the black looks cheap, almost plastic like. At this price I will be returning. Perhaps if they were 50% less I would keep them, but at this price they should look better.

Perfect fit; I did size up 1/2 for more room and comfort !! Love them so much !!! Definitely worth every penny !

Size was great, LOVE the style. What can I say . . . Sorel makes amazing booties and Zappos makes ordering and returning soooooo easy! I love Sorel and I love Zappos!

I received the wrong boots! Right box, wrong shoe. I believe I got the Emelie short lace in black. They’re comfy, but not what I want. Returning.

Sorel boots are a great combination of style and comfort. I also like that the boot has a little heel. I found the boot to be true to size. I had originally gone 1/2 size up but had to exchange for my regular size.

Love these shoes! Sorel does not disappoint! Cute and comfortable. I initially ordered a size up because I heard they run big, but I ended up having to return them for my normal size shoe.

I wear a size 11 and often times the shoes are not quite big enough or my toes hit the end in a heal. This fit was perfect and comfortable. I stand all day for my job and my feet felt great at the end of the day.

I purchased my true size & a half size larger because some reviewers had noted that the shoes run small. I found that the shoes run true to size, so my normal size is correct. Love them!!

Love these boots. They’re gorgeous. A blend of worn and timeless. Comfortable day one and blends with tons of outfits from work to casual. And so far, good in rain. Nice non/slip on the bottom as well.

I’ve never written a review immediately after receiving footwear because . . . well, you never know until you’ve worn them for a bit. These boots arrived this afternoon, no need to wait. I love them. Sorry, correction: I LOVE THEM! They fit like they were made for my feet. No pinching, rubbing, pressure spots. Truth is my knees, ankles, & feet are wrecked. Partial ACL & meniscus tears, torn ligaments/split tendons in my ankles, identical heel spurs in both feet, arthritis, and a big lump on the back of my right heel (bursitis.) It’s been a long time since I could trust my knees & ankles not to send me crashing to the ground. So I specifically looked for above-the-ankle, leather, lace-up boots with a low heel. I need to be able to really tighten the leather around my ankles for stability. And believe it or not, a low heel is better than flats when your Achilles Tendon is affected by bone spurs. I put on the boots with thick socks (the insole is hard), pulled the laces as tight as possible, stood up & went “Oh . . .” Then my dog & I went for a walk. Perfect - these boots are perfect for me. Just one minor quibble: I’ll be replacing the thick nylon laces with leather ones. The very cool eyelets are made of squared-off metal. I wish the metal was round - like a tube - to mitigate rubbing & stress on the laces. It’s just a design thing, really, not a big deal. Has no affect on the fit. Also, the boots are well made. Solid, substantial. I hope they last a long time. I definitely recommend these Sorel boots!
