Nice shoes - hard to find good hiking shoes for kids. Our twins hike with us nearly every weekend and have had to wear athletic shoes in past because we couldn’t find true hiking shoes. Sorry but I’m laughing at the comment that these are sized for boys and not girls. I have boy/girl twins. Youth sizes are just that, YOUTH sizes - boys and girls sizes are exactly the same in youth for ALL brands.

I’m a women’s 7.5 (wide ideally) and I was looking for an inexpensive hiking boot! I got a big kid 6.5 wide and they fit perfectly with thick hiking socks. They are cute and MUCH less expensive than the women’s version of the same shoe. I haven’t worn them yet so I can’t comment on that but I just want to post my review so others can use my sizing for reference!

These are great boots, but beware! The big kids are sized for girls not boys!

I love these boots. I am a grown woman with problem feet and these boots are a dream come true for me. The size of my feet falls into that horrible shoe purgatory that's too wide for (most) women's sizes, too wide for kid's sizes and too small for men's. Shoe shopping has always been an exercise in tremendous frustration for me. When my last pair of snow/weather boots dry rotted after (an albeit impressive) 19 years, I was devastated. Thank goodness for Zappos. They have a better selection of sizes and brands than I have found anywhere else and their stellar return policy allows people like me to order multiple pairs of shoes, try them on in the comfort of my own home and then return what doesn't work - free of charge! Very grateful. When I ordered this boot, it only had 3 reviews - all 5 star, but 2 of the 3 mentioned that they thought it ran smaller. I crossed my fingers (and toes) and ordered. I really need a 6.5W and that is almost never available. This 7W fit my feet like they were made for me. (As a basis of comparison, I wear a David Tate 8W and Birkenstock sandal - can't wear their shoes, too narrow - 38R) These boots are super cushy, supportive, lightweight, warm, waterproof and easy on and off. And, OH MY GOODNESS, they're cute! I can't believe my luck at having found these. I'm going to order a second pair right now, just to have. Thank you, Zappos! Thank you, Merrell!

My son was able to take these out of the box and go on a week long intense hiking and climbing trip in the mountains in NC in early March, with no complaints! they’re banged up and beaten some, but it was literally a week of being outdoors and doing difficult trails. Thank you!

Purchased for a multi-day hiking/camping trip to National Parks. Supportive and lightweight; Merrell does not disappoint. Light gray is neutral. Much easier to get on and off than ankle-high boots. Highly recommend!

My 5 yr old loves these boots and wants to wear them everywhere. We normally wear minimalist footwear and these were his transition to an actual boot. Went with the wide boot to accommodate his wide feet and thicker socks for colder outings. Great traction and he says they are very comfortable. Have yet to test the waterproof capabilities.

Great shoos and boots. The most comfortable I've ever owned. They are the only shoes I buy anymore.

I wanted my 11yo daughter to be comfortable in good shoes for her hike. She didn't complain even once about her feet hurting (maybe her legs lol). We had rocky terrain, river crossings, and mud puddles. I will say these didn't seem to be very waterproof, but I had her wear thick socks and she was kept dry and comfortable.

Heavy but sturdy shoe that will need wear and tear before our vacation. They seem heavy as they walk but good protection against the elements.

Great boot for our adventurous five year old, who wore the boots on trail and while bouldering in Joshua Tree NP.

These shoes the only ones to survive a whole year of boy activity. They have been hiking, tree climbing, running, in the rain, in the dirt. They are just now needing to be replaced, but that is only because he has outgrown them. They are still in great condition. The only thing I have needed to replace are the shoelaces.

My son loves to wear Merrell shoes. These shoes were great for the end of winter when there wasn't as much snow on the ground. Waterproof and comfortable. He will be able to wear them through the summer and, into the fall early winter. Very good looking shoe.

I'm an adult with pretty small feet and bought these for my everyday hikes. Recently used them in snow and was not disappointed! They're comfortable and I felt extremely safe not slipping or falling.

My daughter felt very comfortable in these shoes for a long hike, paired with a midweight wool sock. They have a rugged sole, but were not heavy. She is 8 and was able to lace and tie them herself. The laces were a perfect length for a double knot.

My 7 year old grandson is a toe walker, so the doctor said he must wear high top shoes. He's also a wide, with flat feet! Few high top shoes come in 13.5 wide, but these did. Every time he puts them on, his face lights up and he comments on how "amazingly comfortable" they are! No, we don't hike, but these serve our purposes wonderfully.

I bought this "Kids Moab 2- Mid" in blue/grey for myself! In big kids size 6 - Wide. I bought one just like it in women size 7.5 -Wide a couple of yrs ago. The difference as far as colours go, is the colour of the laces: in women = grey laces, in kids = blue..... and the price, of course, it's cheaper in kids, almost half the price of women's pair. I actually found the kids Moab-2 more comfortable than the women Moab-2: both are "wide" width, but the feel wearing them somehow different. Another differences are: the laces in kids Moab-2 are too thin, too skinny! Wuzzup with that?!! And the toe guards in Kids Moab-2 don't quite reach the toes, nor protect my toes wearing them, can visibly see where my toes are, on the soft fabric area of the boots, those toe guards need to come up higher! But these flaws aren't a deal breaker for me, considering the price, style, colours I like.... I'll keep them. Yes, I would recommend this big kids Moab-2 to women who wear about the same size I do and prefer wider width with more room for your toes, looking for affordable light hiking boots, with a trusted and quality brand name.

My son loves his waterproof hiking boots, especially the green color, he's 7! I love that his ankle is protected while hiking rocky terrain. We just spent the last week in southern Utah and he loved not getting sand in his boots like the rest of us did. These are our 6th pair of Merrell hiking boots, as he's grown. Highly suggest them!
