I've been using and loving these liners for years after having used many others. When looking at the number of negative reviews here, I thought it important to add my own thoughts and experience. First, except for when skinning uphill and needing nothing but these gloves, I have almost always used them as liners primarily to keep my hands dry, whether under ski mitts/gloves or under lined and unlined shell gloves. These are by far the most unobtrusive and comfortable liners I've ever used and they keep my hands dry and warm. For the use cases I've described, these hold up very well and it has taken me nearly 2 seasons of uphill and lift-served skiing to finally develop a small hole on one thumb. This has surprised me a little since I abuse them more then would probably be advisable, specifically having them on too many times as I adjust the velcro cuff of my shell jacket.
The bottom line is that I love these things and would absolutely hate to see them go away. Yes, these are thin liners made of a relatively delicate fabric that isn't intended to stand up to undue abuse. There are more appropriate gloves for more rugged activities. But these are exceptional in terms of fit, comfort, and function when used for their intended purpose.

This is my go-to wool glove. It's great on its own, which I wear often in New York City in colder months, or as a liner, which I wear under my Fission mittens skiing. The touchscreen features is quite good--better than Smartwool--and I find it's pretty intact even when they are moist. I have three pairs and love them.

A number of reviews have been critical of the gloves durability. I use them as liners under mittens and they are excellent - close fitting, warm, good sense of touch and well made. The cuffs are long which helps keep out the cold.

I bought these as glove liners, and they are excellent for that purpose. I removed the outside glove only if I need to do something requiring more tactile control, like answering a mobile phone. I don't wear these alone as gloves, because they are LINERS. They trap air so my fingers stay warm inside gloves. They are too delicate for daily use as gloves, but are excellent LINERS.

I'm surprised by the low ratings given to these gloves - for me they are perfect. They are just right for cutting out the wind and chill while hiking, when thicker gloves would make me overheat. I love the trim stretchy fit, which means that in XS size they fit my small hands perfectly without any excess material at the fingertips. They're exactly what I need for operating my camera gear in the cold. I have found them durable for everyday and hiking use while grabbing trees and rocks etc, and I have had no issue with touchscreen use. I'll be stocking up on these.

Thin but warm, great in multiple uses, by itself or as a liner in a mitten.

These gloves are the most important piece of gear in my bag minus my camera. Running around in the winter months can be daunting as a photographer where your hands are either always exposed, or you need to constantly take your gloves on and off. These gloves are just warm enough to use my camera constantly in cold weather. When the temp gets around 10 degrees, I try to throw a warmer on each side of them and they hold in pretty well. Using the buttons on my camera is no issue, ever. However, using touch screens sometimes isn't easy. I have had three pairs so far, and even my first ripped to shreds pair is useful to me. Honestly, I prefer it when the tips of the fingers eventually rip from heavy use as it allows me to still keep my fingers warm while also being able to pop out if needed. As long as the palm doesn't get too ripped, they stay warm. Always great for regular walking around use too. Be careful opening drinks or performing tasks which they could get stuck as they will rip. Also great working around cold water, as they will wick moisture away quickly and they don't soak my camera when I use it. Can't praise them enough. Looking forward to what colors I grab next. Please don't stop production ever! Smartwool gloves, along with other brands, while thicker and more resilient, have given me issues in the field and even caused me to drop equipment before. These things are just a warm extension of your own hands. Use them for their pros and protect from their cons. I upgrade every year.

I've owned a pair of merino liner gloves from several different brands and these are easily the highest quality, best fitting version I've found.
The fit is exceptional, with no bunching of fabric between fingers, at the knuckles or wrist. They are also much more resistant to pilling than other merino gloves I've used and remain very easy to slide under outer gloves even after a full season of use.
I've used them as liners when skiing and climbing on very cold days, as standalone gloves for running and even every day use around town when dexterity is needed. Since they are made from relatively thin wool, they would not stand up to regular, standalone use directly on rock (the Rho liners would probably be more resilient). I find them to have the perfect combination of warmth and breathability.
Highly recommended.

I should say first that I haven't had the durability issues mentioned by some other reviewers, and in general I am very hard on liner gloves because I largely wear them on their own. Maybe the late 2017 version has addressed the durability problem. That said, the wool fabric of this glove has a structure that clearly won't take a severe bashing, so its not going to survive long if taken bushwhacking or scrambling over granite.
I have compared this directly to the new Rho glove in temps at and just below freezing. The Gothic warms up more quickly when hands are in pockets or when working hard going up hill, and stays warmer than the Rho in calm conditions. However the Rho is a much tighter-woven, less air permeable fabric, so as soon as there is a cool breeze, the Gothic cools off more quickly. When used as a liner, I definitely felt that the Gothic was a little warmer than the Rho. For the same structural reason, the Rho seems a little more abrasion resistant when worn alone. If looking strictly for warmth, especially when used largely as a liner, go with the Gothic. If looking for all around use, especially on its own, the Rho may be a better option. Nice to have a pair of both for changing conditions/uses.
I love the fit of the Gothic for my large, lean, long-fingered hands. I generally take a Medium in Arc gloves, and these were no exception. I notice the cold on my wrists more than on my fingers, so I loved the long snug collars of the Gothic (the Rho is cut differently, and is looser around the wrist in the same size).

I understand there may be an issue with the touch screen function but the quality of these is high.
The packaging they came in was mad...enough stay for a two week stay abroad!

All is cool!
M size is a bit big for me (I am usually 6,5-7), so consider S if youd like a tight fit.

Mapp Treated Merino is very very moisture wicking, so avoid clammy hands in these liners. I agree with the other reviewer that they are a little bit web handed between the fingers, but really, most gloves are, and its not a big deal for me. They feel great in gloves or mitts. Maybe even stand alone for a run. Merino is perfect for a liner, thermally efficient in wide ranging temps, and deals with sweat without odor. These are exactly what the doctor ordered.

Of all the low volume gloves and thin liners, I like these the most. I wear them to walk the dog on brisk days and in various ski gloves or mitts. They really do have an isolation factor and wick pretty well. Heading into my third season with them and are holding up fine except for the touch sensitive material for the phone. When are the manufactures going to realize that these just aren't effective and put a button hole slit in the index fingers?

I found one of these on a trail and it fit so well that I purchased a pair a year ago. I have worn them hiking, cycling and even some minor scrambling. Good for cool not cold temperatures or they can fit well under more bulky gloves. I find it difficult to find gloves that fit so well, normally fingers are too long and droop. The only sign of wear is the digital finger tips are peeling off. No concerns for me, I'm happy to put my phone away and enjoy being outdoors.

Cannot fault these gloves. Great to keep in my jacket when the weather drops. Ok the phone pad could be put on better but I did not buy these to be on my phone while walking.

Love them. Second week of use, very comfortable, takes the form of your hand. Difficult to use alone in colder weather, try to use as a liner

I used these all last season for cold weather mountain runs and they really worked good for me. I keep them up front in my running pack strap compartment balled up as a pair so I don't loose one. I can slip them on and off quickly to keep my hands comfortable. What I like the best is they breath very well so my hands don't get all clamby. Also they are small and light so I can take them with me even on days that you wouldn't normally need gloves but when you get above treeline and it's colder than expected these will save the day. I can't understand the bad reviews on these mine are in great shape with a year of heavy use. To prevent runing them when I'm wearing these I try not to grab rock or trees when running they wouldn't last long if I used them as a hand protection type glove vs a warming style I carry strong leather gloves for scrambling and tree grabbing. These are perfect for the non technical miles when I'm running hot but need something to just keep the nip off my skin. I have also used them as liners in the extreme cold although I really don't like the feeling of wearing two pairs of gloves so I don't do this very often I really like them best as a stand alone non technical warming glove. They would also would be perfect for long road running miles in cold weather. The sensor pad works fine for me I only use it here and there to snap a pic ect on my phone I think if you had a pair that was too big for you the sensor might move to the wrong spot mine fit me good so I haven't had any trouble with that. The stitching on my pair is still in perfect condition. I really like these gloves alot I use them more often then any of my other gloves !

A good lightweight glove for times when it is not too cold but a glove is still necessary. It doesn't work seamlessly with my iPhone so I still need to take it off to use the phone.

I have owned 4 pairs of Gothic (all pre the touchscreen version).
I use them for running wintertime, as liners when hiking and skiing, and as liners at work offshore (in the Arctic).
They are great fit, light weight and warm, but sadly they wear out too quickly, mainly the finger tips.
I know this is merino wool and that the fabric will have limitations in its strength, but unlike most Arcteryx products, these are no more durable than products the quarter of the price.
Will i still keep buying them? Most likely!!
Because I love the fit and functionality!
