I love these mitts. I wear them 120 days a year skiing in Whistler. They are warm, comfortable and reasonably water proof.

I have been rocking my Fission Mitts for 6 seasons. They still keep my fingers warm and dry. Light enough to pack on the uphill and durable enough to wear all day in resort.

Roomy enough for another layer and very warm. Long cuffs so can go over or under your jacket and stay in place.

I'm a ski instructor in the coast range in BC, and need mitts that operate well over a wide range of temperatures, are waterproof, and have wrist loops. The waterproof part, I've learned from many years, just doesn't exist, and I've bought some very expensive mitts from some well known companies trying to disprove it. So far the Fission is so far ahead of anything I've worn in the past, it's like they dropped out of a wormhole from the future. I even had a complete 'Doh!' moment and spilled some water in them while they dangling from my wrists. I steeled myself for the inevitable ice blocks for hands. My hands dried the gloves from their warmth and the gloves breathability. I haven't had them long, so I can't speak about durability, but for usability, if there were 6 stars, these would deserve them.

I purchased these mitts in the London Piccadilly store, a day before the snow hit the south east. For the past few years, I dread daily winter hikes with my dog as I suffer from the dreaded Raynaud's disease, and have tried many gloves without success, but in truly freezing temperatures these fabulous mitts keep my hands warmer than I could have hoped for. The quality and comfort is outstanding Do not hesitate to buy if you suffer too.

All new kit this year and decided to treat myself to some mitts.
I get extremely cold feet and hands on the hill and these keep me toasty warm!! Even when I get a bunch of snow inside it with a good rub on the outside it just falls out and still feels warms as the start of the day.
Plenty of use already and no signs of wear

I've used these mitts in -20 and they worked great. I paired them with Gothic Glove as a liner and they worked excellent. For mitts, they are surprising dexterous. I was able to transition from skiing to skinning with my backcountry gear while wearing the gloves.

I'm a bit confused by a lot of these reviews. I regularly ride in very cold weather (below -20c) and I never get cold fingers with these. I've snowboarded over 30 days with them and they still look great, no durability issues. If it's above freezing I can't war them, my hands start to sweat.

If you are a glove person this one is a beauty. Warm, with great dexterity. The cuff is designed to go over your jacket and keep everything out. My wife and kids also approve of this .

Caveat: I received these mittens a few days before a two-day backcountry hike so I can't speak to the products long-term durability. On my recent hike they performed exceptionally well in a variety of conditions (snow, rain, wind). Unlike other mittens I've owned, the lining doesn't get bunched up or get pulled out when putting on and taking off. They also breathe relatively well while exerting. I look forward to testing them out more this winter.

I get very cold hands very easily and quickly while skiing. These are the first mitts I have used that have kept my hands warm on cold days out skiing (-15 to -20). I love the fact they are goretex as well so I don't have to stress about the waterproofness. The XS is still a tad big on me, wish the gloves came in a smaller size!

The warmest mitts Arc'teryx makes. Life-savers for the east coast winters. Would never ski without them

I have used these gloves for a full winter season now and finally decided to leave a review. Looking at the recent reviews I can't say I relate. Of course hand warmth varies from person to person but I personally found these gloves very very warm, so much that if I used it above -10C my hands would start sweating immediately. My advice is if you get cold hands often, first make sure your TORSO IS WELL INSULATED before blaming gloves for cold hands.
With that said, the coldest temperature I've used these in is -17C while snowboarding and my hands were neither too cold or too warm. It would be interesting to see how far I could push these gloves with liners.
The gloves are very light for how warm they are, and I find the glove's features very useful (secondary wrist strap, removable liner, carabiner loop, ease of tightening and loosening at wrist).
The only reason I didn't give these 5 stars is because after a while of moderate to high activity my hands would sometimes sweat. Funny enough though even when wet inside my hands still did not get cold.

The Fission SV Mittens are great. Very high quality, good dexterity, fairly compact.
My hands get cold easily and I bought the SV mitten after purchasing the SV gloves since I found myself often pulling my fingers into the palm of the glove to stay warm. The mittens do a much better job for my situation, though they are not super warm just walking around but still probably the best mittens I've owned. If you are active or your hands don't get that cold easily these mittens are excellent. For some, they may even be too warm!

Good waterproof mitt, however for this price and brand name I would have expected a bit more. The wrist straps don't stay on well because it doesn't pinch tight enough and keeps coming loose. Maybe consider upgrading this valuable piece so I dont lose my mitts when I take them off? Other than that, they are warm and keep the snow out for the most part.

Longtime user of Arcteryx clothes and gear in Norway. Id say that the Fission SV mitten is best for high output activities in minus celsius temps, but for me they are a bit like beeing in outer space, fried on one side and deep frozen on the other. The back of the hand is well insulated but unfortunatelly that does not help to keep the hands warm because of the very thin insulation in the palm, the only way i can get them to work at all is to use liners. If you have warm hands these mittens are great, if not, you should think twice. My intention was to marry these but i guess i have to accept they belong to someone else. The only reason for me to not recommend this product to a friend is because all of my friends, like me, knows frostbite just too well.

Second winter with them and have not handled the cold temperatures well. As others have said anything less than -5c and my fingers are freezing. I'm a big fan of Arcteryx and this is my first letdown. I love my Venta mittens for milder days but was hoping these would cover me for the colder weather. Unfortunately not. They protect well against the wind and rain but that's about it.

I had hoped that these mitts would keep my hands warm in colder weather. However my experience has been that in temperatures below -5, my hands get cold quite quickly. I've tried liners which help somewhat but this has been a disappointing experience with this particular product. I will say that the quality of the product material is first rate.

I'm generally a huge fan of Arc'teryx gear so these mittens may be the first time I've felt let down in terms of durability. The fit and warmth were both fantastic. Their ability to stand up to relatively mild usage, however, was not so as good. I snowboarded with these at the end of last season (in early 2021) but only for around 15 days at most total at resorts and wouldn't say I was hard on them (I'm intermediate at best). During that time, however, the leather started to show so much wear that I'll likely need some sort of replacement this year.

Nice looking, but not warm at lower temperatures. The palm side has minimal insulation leaving hands freezing in anything below -5 to -10. They should add more insulation to the palm side unless there is a specific reason for the current design.

They are warm if used with liners. The insulation packs out after repeated use so they loosen up. The leather is very thin and is from split hides and treated with chemicals to give it some strength. The leather has no reinforcement for high wear areas so they develop holes in the palms and fingertips from pole contacts when skiing or palm rubs when snowboarding. Would I buy them again? No, they don't last and for this price you can get a much more robust and articulated glove from a specialty manufacturer that is designed for skiing or snowboarding.

I really wanted to love these mitts, but alas they disappointed. There is so little (as in seemingly no) insulation on the palm that my hands freeze once temps drop below -5C. Have taken to wearing them with liners, which helps. But not the mitts I'd hoped for to keep my fingers toasty when the temps dive.
