More than a decade ago, I purchased the Arro 22 backpack and it's been through a lot (travels near and far and everything in between). When I saw the Arro 8 at the end of last year, I had to have it. It was sold out. Everywhere. In all 3 colors. Finally, the black came back in stock and I ordered two (His/hers set. I'm not sharing with my husband, he got his own). I FREAKING LOVE IT so much, I just bought another as a gift for my sister!
The Arro 8 is everything I love about my Arro 22 but smaller. It has a clean/minimal and cool design but it doesn't impede functionality. It's built like a tank/constructed well as you'd expect from Arc'teryx products. It's lightweight but can hold a lot without feeling heavy. It has structure and body and can be carried in the rain (sealed zippers)! The back padding of the bag (esp. the embossed Arc'teryx logo area) is great so you don't feel your stuff bumping into your body as you move.
I love that I can wear this cross body or grab it from the top handle if I feel like. I don't carry it as a shoulder bag because my shoulders can't hold any shoulder bag (too small and sloped, straps don't stay) but you could. The sectioned compartments inside the main compartment are great for organizing your smaller items (pens, keys, phone, etc.) and anything you want more secured (like a passport) you can put into the zippered compartment. The small hook inside the front pocket is great for attaching my commuter pass to have at the ready.
It fits more than you think it will. I've put a fleece lined chunky knit hat, some granola bars, shearling gloves, long wallet, makeup bag, keys, commuter pass with thick case, phone, big over the ear headphones with hard case and charger, a heavy cotton tote/shopping bag and it all fit just fine. Just so you know, you could put a 1.5L bottle of water in this if you wanted to (the bottle cap will stick out of the top though).
Awesome job, Arc'teryx! Maybe for spring/summer you can make this in other colors. Please keep this bag in the line and on repeat for years to come!

I purchased this while in Amsterdam to replace a larger, bulkier day bag. It was the perfect size to store my rain jacket and several essentials. I wasn't sure I would like the structured panel, however it turned out to be an asset. The panel kept the bag sitting upright when not in use and more importantly kept it close and comfortable against my body. And when heavily loaded, the bag kept it's shape. The overall size was large enough to carry what I needed with room to spare and I didn't have to worry about knocking things off the shelf while in a shop. I will modify the shoulder strap to make it removable which will also make it easier to attach it to the outside of my backpack. I was able to get it attached to my backpack as it is with a little ingenuity, but modifying the shoulder strap will make it quick, efficient and secure. I appreciated that the shoulder padding was of a minimalist design and fixed in place yet easily adjustable by shortening or lengthening the straps. The fold over design of the top zipper seemed a nuisance at first, but I came to like it quickly. It protected the main compartment from leaking and kept out unwanted slippery fingers. And the outside straps were handy for attaching accessories The outside compartment was very useable as it is gusseted at the bottom allowing for decent capacity. After having used it for a few days, especially in the airports, I think it would be very beneficial to have a zippered document pocket behind the structured panel where I could keep my phone, passport and boarding pass handy, however the zippered pocket inside the main compartment worked pretty well. But an outside pocket would be much more convenient. I'm very excited about this bag! For me it is nearly perfect and I'll be using it as my EDC bag in my vehicle. Great job Arcteryx!! You hit it out of the park with this one!

I was hesitating with purchasing the bag. But I totally love it. Its a great size. I am working student and very easily I can use it on study days as well as working days. It does not look too big but still I can fit there what I need for the day.
Thanks Arcteryx for making it! ;)

This is an excellent bag! It's great for using in the city or for travel. You can sling it over your shoulder so it stays in place, which is great if your doing lots of walking. It has lots of separate compartments for storing things in. The zippers are all sealed so that they are water proof. I absolutely love this bag. It's very lightweight and comfortable to carry.

I was very interested in this bag as a travel bag - I especially like that the roll top hides the zipper access to the main compartment and would make it very difficult for pick pockets. At the same time I like that it does have an easily accessible zippered front compartment for easy access to items such as keys, glasses etc. The reason I ended up not buying this bag is that I found that when the roll top adjustment straps are lengthened to allow access to the hidden zipper it is difficult to grab the ends again to snug it back up. The design could be improved by slightly longer straps or some sort of pull that you can easily grab. I know that Arcteryx is always working to improve their designs, so I will wait for an update before purchasing this product..Almost perfect.....

I read the reviews and ordered this online and was really excited when it arrived. It's a nice size and is a great every day shoulder bag. However, my issue is with the front pocket material. When you touch it, it feels fine and sturdy... the issue is that whatever you brush up against the bag (such as your jacket sleeves, any clothing etc) will kinda stick to the bag. The material of that front pocket is like sharkskin- it feels smooth to the touch but whatever brushes up against it will have friction and gets stuck (fleece is probably the worst but even my my super smooth arcteryx jackets like my Sylva or Nadina will get stuck to the bag). I'm worried this will eventually cause pilling of my jackets (especially the sleeves) so I am going to have to return this. Sorry Arcteryx, I really wanted to love this bag.

Main reason I was purchasing this bag is to have a slightly roomier interior than my current slingblade . The back padding is so stiff that I have even a hard time to fit in my ipad. I understand the bag is made to be water resistant/proof, but the fastening straps on both sides are annoying that opening and closing often are not recommended as they are not practical. In the mean time, I will stick to my slingblade. I wish Arcteryx would consider making a bigger version of slingblade, made of water resistant material, with a cleaner and simple design.
