I don't usually leave reviews on running shoes since feel and performance are such personal things but felt the need to share that the Carbon X runs about a half size shorter than the Clifton 6 and Bondi 5. I wear a W10.5 in the Clifton 6 and needed a W11 in the Carbon X (regular width). The toebox is roomy, which accommodates my toe spread really well. In contrast, my toes feel crowded in the Clifton 6. Unfortunately the extra width in the toe box comes with some looseness in the heel that can be somewhat mitigated with heel lock lacing. The sole is stiffer and less cushy than the Clifton 6 but still has plenty of cushioning. So far, I have only worn these for training runs and not racing. Time will tell if they are worth the premium price.

I've been a Hoka girl since 2005. I have my favorites and not so favorites. The Carbon X is a nice shoe. Responsive, my foot rolls forward really good and the cushion is just right. The top of the shoe is tight which makes getting your foot into the shoe is hard. The tongue has a stabilizing material which I cut out hoping it would allow me to get the shoe on easier. This shoe would be good a running a marathon but to get it on quickly in a triathlon this shoe would not be good. Also the white shoe gets dirty quickly and I'm cleaning more often. Think I got about 400 miles on them before they were worn out. Old Hokas would last twice as long. Hoping Hoka will make some changes soon.

I read through a lot of these other reviews and decided to splurge on these. I've previously run in Brooks Glycerin and Ghost in a size 7.5, and I have an old pair of Hoka Challengers that are a size 8 and just a little too big. I'd read some reviews saying to size down even from your normal Hoka size, so I got a size 7. I will also say, it IS a little narrow in the toe box, and I don't have wide feet. After testing them on a few runs, with orthotics and without, I would definitely advise sticking to your normal shoe size. I'm returning these and exchanging them for a 7.5. It's a solid shoe and I hope to get my exchange pair soon. I'm eager to run.

I switched from Brooks Ghost 11 to Hoka Carbon X. My husband also switch from ASICS Gel Nimbus to Hoka Carbon X. On average we run 20+ miles/week and race 5x/year in half marathons. These shoes are not the most cosmetically appealing but do the job well. Pros- lightweight & springy. Cons- the white fabric turns yellow/brown from sweat almost immediately & the bottoms look like bananas. Would definitely buy again if they would consider more modern styles/colors, comparable to Brooks/Nike/Adidas/UA.

12 hour shifts made easier on my feet in these. Plenty of room for toes. Cushion is in the heel. These are my 6 & 7th pair. Enjoyed Bondi and Clifton.

I was struggling to find running shoes that supported my joints and relieved knee pain, but these did the trick! As a retired college athlete, I usually run 3-4 times per week and am by no means a pro, but these shoes are incredible and make me feel great.

At first I LOVED these shoes - love the look and love the feel. I bought these for comfort on my long walks and I even went a 13:21 pace in these babies. Unfortunately, after wearing these a few times I kept getting pain at the base of my big toe. If they were wider around that area of my foot they would be perfect! Unfortunately, have to return and am now looking for a little wider Hoka to buy from Zappos.

I walk and run in this shoe, and absolutely love the carbon plate. I've read other reviews saying that heel strikers found it awkward - I find it to be fantastic on both paved roads and the treadmill, smooth and fast. There are a few things that don't make any sense - the laces are too long and come undone. My heel slips out a little, not very noticeable, and if I lace them all the way up it's too high and uncomfortable, so I skip the final holes. The black and gray pair are stylish, I wish the same two-tone coloring could be added to the Arahi. No more pastels!!

My podiatrist made me buy these to help heal a plantar plate tear at the second toe and after a year of pain and only 2 weeks later of wearing these shoes exclusively, my foot is healing. Very breathable, love the colors, super comfy for walking. These are my favorite house shoes now.

These are actually running sneakers but I am using them for court shoes to play picklelball! They are fantastic!! I couldn't recommend them enough. The soles are perfect for the outdoor court surface and the support they offer is great. They are so cushiony and comfortable I can play for hours and my feet feel great!

Absolutely love these shoes. I walk about 5 miles or more a day and these shoes eliminated/solved all the issues I was having with hip and shin splints. Very happy walker now!!!

This was a very comfortable shoe- however the fabric is very loose and wrinkly. It is not a mesh, but a woven. Hoka has improved some of their fabrics and gradually getting rid of stretchy mesh. I would buy the Carbon X with a better textile. The shoe itself accommodates my foot problems. I hope Hoka is listening!

This is the best sneaker I have ever owned. I walk on concrete 5 hours a day. My feet used to kill me after my shift but not anymore.

I tore or strained a muscle near my hip - no one can figure it out. I couldn't walk. Ordered these shoes (was wearing softer Hokas) and these shoes really helped. I've been wearing them all day for the last week and my hip is def. on the mend. Whenever I wear different shoes, my hip regresses. These shoes are firm, not as cushioned as the other hokas I have (which I prefer) but they're really helping my hip and they're really easy to walk outside in.

After years of running shoes that are either too narrow or don't have enough support - the perfect walking/running shoe has arrived!

I can wear these all day and my feet don't even feel tired! My absolute favorite part is the "rocker" that helps you maintain momentum as you're walking/running. The fit and style are great also! Very flattering and I'm always getting compliments!
