I'm not sure why I haven't tried this shoe out before. I have a long and narrow foot and this fits like a custom made shoe!

I'm new to trail running though I can say without a doubt hoka's are my favorite street runners. The perfect weight-support ratio. These are definitely heavier duty. They're supportive yet light enough, fit true to size and the vibram soles have that ideal grip and stamp of durability. They seem likely to hold up over time. Overall, very worthwhile purchase.

I noticed you can run in these shoes on a trail if need be. The shoe laces stay and it fits my foot. I would run a marathon with this show.

I have wide flat feet and had a MTP joint fusion for Hallux rigidus. My foot hurts with most shoes if I go any distance. The Hoka Evo Mafate is perfect for me. The rocker bottom combined with superb cushioning keep my problem feet happy. Since the Mafate isn’t available in a wide width (yet), I ordered the men’s. Love the feel, love the look. Theses shoes are perfect on roads and trails.

I'm a newbie to trail running and after much research decided to try Hoka. Really impressed with the performance of this shoe and could really notice a difference in running with these shoes vs non-trail shoes. All the imperfections of an uneven and constantly changing surface seem much more dampened so I could better focus and enjoy my run (and the scenery!)

No kidding this shoe fits perfect right out of the box. I'm a big guy looking to get back into running, these shoes feel awesome during HIIT workouts. I wear them during my Ruck hikes, and can feel a major difference in comfort compared to my regular shoes.

I've been running on streets with several generations on Clifton for some time, but wanted to expand my route repertoire with trail runs so I was looking for shoes with more traction and firmer footing to handle a variety of surfaces. I took advantage of Hoka's generous 30-day trial program and compared on trail Speedgoat 4, Xterra Torrent, and this Evo Mafate. Xterra was comfortable but way too soft overall for me. Speedgoat was super-solid but too stiff to my taste - I felt the shoes really lived up to its name but they felt like hiking boots to me, perhaps more suitable for even rougher terrain with big rocks and all. This Mafate hit the right chord for me. Super solid footing with sufficient comfort, and traction has been great. I can run from gravel to loose terrain after the rain with confidence as the soles equalize uneven terrains. Picking up speed on trail down hill, I land on toes feeling solid w/o worrying about shoes slipping away. I put in about 50 miles so far and the shoes are making trail runs fun, as I continue to explore more routes!

Wow! Best shoes EVER for running the ravine trails in Toronto, Canada. These shoes can take you from city streets to leaf-covered, rocky, dirty, muddy ravines without a problem. Literally you feel like you're invincibly gliding over the terrain in these incredible space-shoes. Love them!

After about 50 miles on New Hampshire state park trails, these feel great. The Vibram treads have done a nice job of shielding my feet from the rock points and roots that would otherwise gouge and poke. They grip the terrain very nicely for the steep climbs over rock, but on the flip side, they have caught my foot when I'd have preferred they slide going over a protrusion late in my run. There's enough foam to almost make it seem like I'm on pavement without going overboard to make the shoe heavy. Everything inside the shoe made snug contact with my feet with no irregular contours, shoelace grommets or other objects to poke or bother me.

These replaced my Evo Speedgoats that were out of stock. The Evo Mafate has a more agressive sole for trail running and has been working out great

best trail running shoe that I have used.
used Stinson ATR, Mafate Speed, Speed Goat 1,2,3, EVO Speedgoat. This is third pair of EVO Mafate 2. the only downside is they do not wear along time.

Mainly use to hike or walk. Great fit and super easy on the feet. I needed something super soft to support 250lbs. These are the shoes for Clydesdales for sure. Would buy again. I own 3 pair of the speed goats

The BEST trail shoe HOKA has come up with. Plenty of cushion, stable, and all terrain traction. Not a bad road shoe in a pinch either.

I used the previous model when I first started trail running and logged about 150 miles before I decided to get a back up pair. Fortunately the second version is even better than the first! I just used these for a thru-hike for 75 miles of granite/dirt on the High Sierra Trail with a summit of Mt. Whitney. No complaints.

These are the most versatile and comfortable running shoes I have ever worn. Cushy enough for pavement, but snug and grippy enough for side-hilling off-trail through the woods, rocks, or tundra. I used to use Hokas for my road and well-maintained-trail runs, and Salomon Speedcross for mountain running, orienteering, and off-trail adventures. But no more. I use these shoes for everything. They bring a smile to my face every time I put them on, knowing I can go anywhere and do anything in them. I have never loved a shoe so much!
