I own another North Face down puffy jacket that is shorter (waist length) and was looking for something longer. When I saw this, it looked like the longer version of the one I have and in a fun color! I'm sure this is a good coat for someone, but just didn't work out for me. It was so much heavier than my other coat and with less down. The weight felt pretty restrictive. The other jacket I have that is similar has more of a smooth/slick fabric, so I assumed this one would be similar. The fabric is more matte, which adds to the restrictiveness of it. The sleeves were also much shorter than expected (I'm 5'10) and the length was too short. I didn't love also that everything had snaps (on the sleeves, the hood, the pockets) vs. velcro or zipper. I don't live in a place that has ridiculously cold weather, so this was just too much coat for me. I'm sure it's great for someone!

I bought this jacket for my downtown train commute and it fits the purpose, since it gets cold and windy on Chicago train platforms. The boxy look is very stylish and does not restrict the movements, leaves enough room for thick sweaters. But it does not give that huggy feeling like more fitted jackets. It runs true to size, although the sleeves are on the shorter side, but still acceptable (I do have longer than average arms, and I am usually in between sizes M and L, so I went with L mainly because of the sleeve length issue). If this jacket had those sleeve extenders with a thumb hole, it would have been perfect. Still a great jacket!

Its taken me months to pick a coat for this year, I saw someone with this coat on at the store and had to have it. Searched high and low for my size (which I thought was a small bc my friends TNF coat is a Med) and it was too big. Im returning for an XS if I can find it bc its really a wonderful coat and the color is so stylish!

I live in SW Ontario in a snow belt. I'm really happy with how warm this coat keeps me, even when it's -20. It also looks really cool, I think style and performance can exist in the same garment and North Face is great at this.
The coat is a great fit FOR ME, but I don't think it's for everyone. I am very straight shaped and wanted a coat with no defined waist (I like boxy clothes). I'm 5'7", 135lbs and wear the S. It fits me well except for the sleeves being a few cm too short. I think it could be too tight around the hips or chest for anyone who is a different body shape. Really worth trying on before you buy.

Based on the reviews, I decided to go with S instead of my usual size M. S feels good enough, but not perfect. When zipped up, the chest&underarm feels slightly tight, so I've decided to return. It is not bad at all, but i was expecting a more relaxed fit for enough rooms for winter tops underneath. I will rebuy M, and i should've gone with my usual size. Other than that I like the design and quality, as well as color (burgundy). Unfortunately North Face does not ship to an APO address so I had to purchase from other outdoor website who does.

I love this jacket! I originally went in looking for a completely different style and ended up walking out with this gem. The length is great in the body, it's warm and light weight and there is a little extra room for a cozy hoodie if needed. You could size down if you're in between sizes like me, but I like the extra room. My only issue with the jacket is the arm length, I still went with the jacket as everything else I liked about it outweighed the the only con I could find. I'm really exited to rock this out in our cold Canadian winters.

Purchased a medium for a loose fit, probably could have done fine with a small. Will definitely be able to wear a heavy sweater underneath with comfort. love the deep front roomy pockets, but the hook Velcro on the pocket catches my gloves occasionally. Feels a little heavy compared to other similar coats. Only wishes are that it had ribbed cuffs and fur on hood to keep trap the snow.

I really like this coat, but it was just a bit too big for my frame. I'm 5'4 and 100lbs. If I was really layering underneath, I think it could have worked. But it also just looked like it was swallowing me up a bit. Other than that, I thought it was marvelously constructed -- great weight, warmth, accessories. If they had a smaller size, I would have definitely ordered it.

The idea is good. The large pockets are a us, however, it just looked and felt like a sleeping bad my was wrapped around me. Arms too short.

I return the product because it is a little snug and heavy for me though I was willing to try it with a bigger size but it is not available.

I had so much hope for this coat as it looks super cute online--it's one of the few coats here with a distinctive style. They didn't have it at my closest store. So, I took a risk and ordered it. The size tool suggested a medium, but I read the reviews that said it ran big. This was my experience, even the small felt too big. Also, perhaps because I am petite (at 5' 1"), I felt frumpy in the coat. It was also pretty lightweight, which gave me concern about how much it would keep me warm when walking my dog in the northeast on winter mornings--I like to be very, very warm. Finally, I wasn't wild about the cedar color, which was a little more mustardy (?) than the photos. I really wanted to love this coat. I returned it instead for a different North Face coat that I very much love.

I've never bought a North Face or spent this much money and time looking for the perfect parka so it is with great sadness that i had to return this coat to the store today. I wanted to love it, and I did, but the reviews led me to believe that I had found a coat to fit my 6'1 frame, and appropriately long arms, but they were wrong. I know I'm tall, but is it so wrong to want cool things? After trying on countless coats and researching online for hours I found this gem. "Relaxed Fit" was exactly what I wanted. And all the girls said it was "big". I thought that meant the sleeves might actually be long enough. I thought that meant a Medium, for my 156 lbs, 28 inch waist would actually fit. And it kind of did. But the sleeves. Why are the sleeves so short? Shorter than many other coats I tried on. And are my shoulders really that broad? My 36 inch chest had me nearly ripping the seams with a slight flex. Why, I could hardly raise my arms! Everything else seemed to fit great, as my husband said from the bed, the body of the coat was perfect, with a little bit of room for a sweater. But the sleeves and the tightness in the shoulders sent my to the closest North Face store to return it. And in exchange, I left with a boring, standard parka with no cool colors like hunter green or cedar brown. Just a boring black or white option in a size Medium with sleeves and shoulders that fit.
I guess tall girls can't have nice things.

I'm 5'4" and about 118 lbs and sized down to an XS after reading all of the reviews that said the jacket is oversized (I'm typically a small in everything). I honestly probably would have been fine with a small. The XS wasn't necessarily snug but I think for this type of jacket, it is going to fit a little larger for layers underneath and such, so a small would have been preferred by me. The jacket seems to be really warm, but it's the type of material that shows any lint or dog hair or anything that touches the outer shell. I ended up returning because the zipper puckered out in the chest and stomach very awkwardly for me :(
