Great jacket fits large suggest going down a size, I love the slight insulation and my Theta AR 3 Layer Pro Gore Tex jacket wasn't keeping me warn enough even with layers, so I have the Sabre AR with tall chin guard and slight insulation for Whistler minus 20oC days using icebreaker and a cerium hoody jacket. Snow guard works with my Sabre Pants and I love that it hs Recco also built in and a shoulder pocket. In my mind this is better for Whistler than a Alpha SV. The Sabre AR doesn't make the sounds a Apha does also.Great for heliskiing with snow guard

Quality ski jacket! The fit is great and I really like the length of the jacket which is not too long. Nice features like vents, pockets and hood is awesome. The powderskirt works well with the Sabre AR pants and when not in use you barely notice it. Totally windproof and waterproof as expected. I`ve had a few different jackets from other brands the past years, but this is the best so far! Got the wildchild color and really like it.

This is a companion review to the Sabre AR pants, which I purchased with this Sabre AR jacket 2 years ago. Like the pants, this jacket delivers on my shortlist of key details: a) exemplary design and build quality, b) highly functional yet simple in utility, c) versatile for other cold, wet-weather activities. I'm 5'9" and weight about 160 lbs. and wear a trim fit suit size 42R.

I bought this jacket a year ago. The fit was excellent. It kept the snow and rain out, warmth in. Provided excellent room for layering.

I'm 6'6" tall and about 215lbs, so fairly slim. I initially bought the Sabre in a XL but it was just way too big. Even with a heavy mid-layer, it felt enveloping. The Large Sabre fits absolutely perfectly! I do not like baggy, sloppy apparel for snowboarding and the Sabre has worked out perfectly. As a tall person, I couldn't be happier with the fit.

Transitioned to this piece this year along with matching Sabre AR pants. I'd say overall, the sizing is larger than I was used to but the performance absolutely rocks. With the right base layers I didn't feel the weather at all on some pretty cold and windy days at Breck and Vail. The long sleeves are nice but trying to get gloves under the sleeves and velcro'd does take some practice. The lack of lower pockets is kind of annoying but I am going to try out skiing with a backpack which would make the pockets obsolete anyway.

I was a little hesitant to spend this much on a shell jacket but don't regret it. I wanted a jacket to pull double duty...to wear as a shell skiing but also to throw on top of my sweatshirt when walking into work when it's raining and cold. This jacket will definitely do both! The fit is much better than other shell jackets than I tried on. I was looking for a shell to wear layers beneath and this works perfect! I'm 5'10, 170 lbs and the medium fits perfect. It has enough room to layer my thickest down jacket, a Sitka Fahrenheit, beneath it but not too loose. Haven't had a chance to try it on the slopes yet but that's just a month away....can't wait!

Received my Sabre AR jacket and pants (Timelapse, medium) recently and the quality and fit exceeded my expectations. I'm 5'9, 160 lbs with a athletic build, and was concerned that I was between small and medium. However, with base and mid layers, the fit is actually perfect. The quality is exceptional, and it's clear that attention to detail is a hallmark of the brand.

Normally would rely on canada goose down jackets. First time I have gone with a gortex shell and fleece. Love the wind stopping power and warmth, extremely durable shell, sleeves were a little long until you secure them closed, but when it's cold the extra length is nice. The Wildchild orange is a cool colour

I have had my Alpha SV since 1999 and it still works great, although it's finally starting to fade on the shoulders and the bits of glue and duct tape are becoming offensive to my wife. The Sabre seems to be a great ski-specific replacement jacket to my Alpha. And since my Himalayan days are mostly over, and the tele days going strong, I think it's going to be another 22 year jacket. It's expensive- yes. But it's a lifetime purchase. It's bomber!

After retiring my 17 year old Alpha SV it was time for a change. With so many options I relied on the expertise of my local Arc'teryx shop and I landed in the Sabre AR to tackle all the elements on and off the trail and keep me protected and dry in all conditions. It's lightweight, durable and doesn't crinkle. All the extra inner and outer pockets are essential and appreciated, not to mention the powder skirt. Can't wait to get out there.

Received a warranty voucher on a Stinger jacket where the drawcord sleeve delaminated. Arc'teryx did right in my mind, although at first I was not enthused about parting with my favorite jacket, but the new jackets looked intriguing. I went with the Sabre AR and couldn't be more pleased. I am 6'-0' and 190 lbs. Arc'teryx customer service was great in answering my size questions. I don't live near a store and couldn't try one on so had to take a chance. They told me the M is 25" (50" girth) across the chest and the L is 26" (52" girth.) I wear a size 40R suit (that's the exquisite James Bond fit) and my actual chest is 41.5" around. The M fits me well (The Sabre AR I recieved measured 25" across the chest) and the L would probably be too baggy on me as I don't like to relive the 80's. My go -o puffys are a Flash jacket (3.5 oz fill) or a Helios jacket (7.8 oz fill). With a long sleeve shirt underneath either puffy (not both), there is just the right amount of room for me. I wouldn't be able to wear more than the Helios underneath, but it is pretty lofty and really all I personally will ever want to wear under a shell. The jacket gives me just the room to move and isn't huge like I imagine the large would be on me. See photos. I like the length of the jacket. It's 30" from the bottom of collar down the back. This puts the bottom well below my belt line and in my opinion is perfect to keep snow and rain out when I am skiing or bending down while hiking/climbing. It is not so long as to get in the way. My waist is 36" and the jacket fits good on the waist. It is 22" across the bottom (44" girth) and is loose without puffys, but fills up nicely and not too tight with the puffys underneath. Again, the Helios underneath is about all I could wear at the waist too. There are double draw pulls on the waist to further snug up. There is also a powder skirt with two different lengths of snaps - although they only differ by an inch or so. The velcro sleeve tighteners are the best I've ever seen as they actually go tight enough for my wrists. After agonizing for three days I went with the distortion color. It reminds me of glacial silt. Not beige, not gray, somewhere in between. I like a lighter color that doesn't get hot on summer all-types-of-weather days. The Arc'teryx and GoreTex logos are embroidered not glued, a plus from my perspective. All in all, usually being between a M and a L I couldn't really ask for a better fit. Nor a better replacement for my favorite jacket. RIP Stinger jacket . . .

Have nothing but good things to say about this jacket. Fits great. Excellent for layering on those cold days. Built in snow skirt does its job admirably in the deep stuff. Looks sharp. And if you have the Sabre pants, they connect to help keep the snow out. Very happy with this jacket and highly recommend.

I bought the Saber SV. Have not yet had the opportunity to test it in action. But my immediate impression is. I am impressed ! It is by length the strongest and most well-built shell jacket I tried from Arc. I have an Alpha LT. It is of course light, but the Saber seams to be much more solid and strong. I have chosen a size Medium, and it fits spot on. I also use medium in Arc other jackets. (For reference, I am 182 cm tall, weigh 83 kg, athletically built). I would definitely recommend others to stick to the same size as their other Arc tops. There is nice space for a few layers underneath, which is a must as it is a shell jacket, it is NOT insulated. Can't wait to try it on the slopes and for everything else

I got one of these this past winter, primarily for use at a local ski hill. At first it seemed a bit baggy thru the chest and shoulders, but I quickly realized this was a flexible fit, that allowed for layering and free movement. Extremely durable - i don't worry about carrying my skis w/ very sharp edges over my shoulders. Feels like a suit of armour when I put it on (if a suit of armour were flexible and comfortable!) Flexible fit and design - can add more layers underneath easily enough. Minimalist, clean ski design - perfect for front country. I prefer minimalist design, but given my first year with a pass clipped to my front, I'd add a dedicated pass pocket if I could (so I could tuck the pass away when not in use, without taking off and without always having the pass hanging out), and also some way to tie the hood back. The hood is fine when it's just hanging down, and I think a collar or other that the hood could tuck into would be too much -- but a strap w/ a snap so that you could roll the hood and keep it out of the way most of the time would be good. Good, solid purchase with an excellent fit that comes from a good pattern rather than just being baggy; I expect to get many years of use out of this.

I snowboard everyday. This jacket fit every need. Lots of pockets. Loose fitting so easy to move. Hangs low to cover my seat. Easy to layer underneath. Hood fits my helmet perfectly with adjustments on top and sides by goggles, so you can turn your head and still see. The collar is big enough to tuck you whole face inside. The light fleece is just enough extra warmth but the huge pit zips can vent easily. This is NOT a tight resort fitting jacket. It does however give you all the bells an whistles you could want in a hard-core snowboarding / skiing shell with the ability to move easily. I am 5' 10" 185 lbs. I wear an extra large. Which is plenty roomy. A large may also work fine too.

This is a fantastic all around ski jacket! This has been my go to for front and backcountry outings. Keeps the elements ou, the light insulation works with my layering system, and it matches up well with the Sabre AR pants. With a jacket like this, you really start splitting hairs when it comes to finding issues. Given the price, it seems appropriate to point out potential gripes as it's quite an investment. The fit is on the looser side. Maybe not that noticeable if you tend to go for looser fitting jackets. I find the storm hood to be a bit tight around the neck and face area. When layered up, there's not much space to slip your face behind the collar when zipped all the way up. The back of my helmet also tends to fight with the brim of the hood at times. It's better when the hood is up. For reference, I'm 5'10" / 180 with an athletic build.

I wear this jacket snowboarding. I really like that I have flexibility to layer underneath based on the conditions of the day. The cut and the fit seems to accommodate all kinds of movement in a way that other jackets have not. I'm very pleased with this purchase.

Excellent quality. Jacket has done the job as expected during Finnish winter season. Lighter layers in Southern Finland and some thicker layers in Lapland when temps have dropped around -30 C. 172cm/80kg and size M is a perfect size for me.

Bought this after extensive Arcteryx and other brand shells. Just gave it 3 days of heavy powder skiing ranging from 10-40 Degrees F and it performed great. I am between S and M sizes- 32 inch waist, 38/39 chest and I went with a small based on other reviews. Small was correct- only minor issue is powder skirt is a little tight (non Arcteryx ski pants a little bulky). Still figuring out storm hood but did well during periods of heavy snow- 2 inches/hr.

Bought spring of 2020, although I wish I got a XL because the large fits a little snug (5'11, 210lbs) the comfortable and breathable material is an added bonus to the protection it provides. I generally use a mid layer underneath when in the back country and will stay just right! I love the hood capacity as it allows me to keep my Helmet on and still have weather protection on windier days. Not goretex pro but will thrive in that wet bc snow!
