these are my 2nd pair of the Sabre AR, the last were 2018 versions. The fabrics and quality are top notch but the fit difference is off. The fly seems shorter and the whole fit is trimmer around the waist. Like if the pants start to sag at all it limits your legs range of motion around the hips. Also a big let down is the removal of the small zippered pocket the previous version had. It was perfect size for car keys and ski pass. That said, I still really enjoy the pants. They accommodate my ACL braces with good width down the leg. the fleece backing is perfect for colder weather. Cuffs open wide enough for my bulky snowboard boots and AT ski boots. my Micon jacket snaps to it seamlessly. This seasons colors look great as well! I hope Arc'teryx will address the fit and lengthen the fly.

I was excited to finally get a pair of these pants to match my AR jacket, but upon receipt I noticed several small design issues that were disappointing for gear of this magnitude. - The loop for the beacon pocket is in the left leg. Perhaps there are more lefties than I thought, but I've always had the security loop in the right leg. When doing beacon searches the beacon bungee crosses over my body and gets in the way since I hold the beacon in my right hand. Perhaps they meant this to be a key loop instead, but there is no attachment point in the right leg pocket so we're stuck with it. - The thigh pockets do not have sufficient material to allow freedom of movement when a beacon is in the pocket. I tried this with two of my beacons just to be sure and had the same result. The extra material is on the bottom of the pocket and is restricted at the corners, minimizing its storage capacity. If the extra material were instead on the side of the pocket (or the bottom and the side) the increased storage area would allow better freedom of movement when under load. May not sound like a big deal but if using these for the backcountry that's a lot of annoying steps. - There is an abundance of material in the lower leg to go over the boots. The rest of the pant has a slim profile. If continuing the slim minimal theme it'd be nice to see it tapered or with a zippered lower leg to take in the extra material after buckling in. - This last one I knew before purchasing, but in terms of usefulness it would nice to see it incorporated; adding hand pockets in addition to thigh pockets. It's unfortunate to have to choose between the AR and LT when weighing these options. For utility, having four pockets in the backcountry, ski resort and beers at the car...well, it's just nice and functional. Overall, love the material. I hold Arcteryx in high regard and they've saved me in many storms, which is why I probably set the bar too high on these pants.

Only one length for the inseam is stupid. The entire pants fit fine but the inseam is too long. There is no way to attach a suspender to the belt loops. The back loop is a giant wide loop and nothing goes in there. It can have more pockets. Surprisingly Arcteryx doesn't make suspenders for its own pants! It's a shell pant. So you must wear a merino wool base layer under it if it's cold.

I bought a pair last year & they were my 3rd pair of Sabre ARs. The fit has been changed to be much tighter in the thigh and the crotch was significantly shortened to the point that the new fit is more of a low rise...which is horrible in active wear. The small pocket on the upper right was unfortunately removed in the re-design. ...so the fit sucks but the materials & build are solid. Because of the weird fit in the redesign, don't buy unless you've tried a pair on first - if they fit your body shape, they'll be good...otherwise, not so much.

I have always done well with the Sabre AR in a medium, but this year the fit/sizing is off. Like other reviews, the waist is good and the length is ok (maybe a touch short) but they fit super tight in the crotch and thighs. Below the knee is ok. This is their most relaxed fit...? Not sure what happened with the construction this year but something is off. I was able to try on a friend's size large and the waist is way too big so I don't have a size option that fits me this year.

The pants are well constructed and have the potential to be great. My two main issues with these pants are the unnecessarily large leg openings and the jacket to pant interface. The bottoms are simply too large to the point of being comical. They practically cover my entire boot. Why not make adjustable bottoms with zippers, buttons or straps to accommodate different boots? It is always nice to have a jacket to pant interface with a ski/snowboard jacket however the design of the buttons is flawed. I wear a large Sabre AR jacket with medium Sabre AR pants and the buttons do not line up. A good jacket to pant interface should be more interchangeable. The buttons require too much of a precise placement. A simple velcro strap or two would be much more ideal and universal. I will be getting rid of the pants and unfortunately will have to look at another brand which will not be compatible with the snowskirt on my Sabre.

This is my second pair of Sabre pants. This pair is two seasons old and has seen approximately 75 to 80 days on snow over those two seasons. I snowboard in all weather conditions from, -40 celsius to plus temperatures, wet snow, powder and even rain or freezing rain if caught in it. This season, on wet snow days, I noticed my butt was wet from sitting on the lift. When I got home I washed the pants with Arc'teryx wash and followed the gore recommendations for temperature and drying. When the pants were dry I tried a water test on the seat and the water soaked through. I was surprised as these pants are washed two or three times a season, as required, and I use the Arc'teryx wash. I have a lot of Arc'teryx gear and readily recommend Arc'teryx to friends. I probably just got a bad pant. I am 6'1 and 195lbs with a 33 inch waist. I have an athletic build and a medium fits me well, with room at the waist to tighten the belt. The micro fleece on the inside gets grippy with some base layers. It catches my Rho LT pant but not my merino base layer from another manufacturer. With a good base layer, these pants are comfortable in sub -30 celsius.

Another ski pant that doesn't fit! I'm a pant size 30x30, and in every other brand that is a size small. I tried on the pants in store and was disappointed to see that these look like clown pants on me. The size chart explains the issue - I'm an XS apparently. But there is no XS offered in these pants! Such a weird sizing decision - I'm 5'9" and 150 so I'm definitely not the shortest or thinnest endurance athlete out there.

I just bought the Medium Long. These are tight fitting, particularly the crotch. I now have to send them back at my own cost. Size up.
