First time out ice climbing, wore these pants. Did the job! Hips are slim but you don't really notice it. I wear a 36", so I bought large. I still wore a belt. Also wore two sets of liners, it was -35 in the morning.

I'm 6'6" and around 215lbs. I ordinarily wear a 34" waist and 36" inseam. I was pleasantly surprised to find the Medium Tall fits quite well. I don't have much breathing room as the Sabre AR waist size is true to size. I wanted a snowboard pant that wasn't baggy and these fit perfectly. With boots on the length is perfect although I would kindly appreciate an even 36" inseam instead of the 35.5" but they still fit great.

I have been searching for a pant with a shorter inseam that isn't huge in the legs and finally found it. Haven't skied with them yet but the fit is excellent. I actually prefer the shorter crotch and range of movement for my legs. I am 5'7" and 170lbs with a 34 waist. I wouldn't want to gain weight in the waste but for now this is the right size. Plenty of room in the legs to add a layer underneath and I need room in the thighs. They could be an inch or so shorter but that is tough to find in any ski pant. The MS option is great for my height range and I have been searching for a pant that is shorter but not super baggy in the legs (i.e., snowboard look). Minor point is that the boot cuff is a bit large even with a ski boot. Not sure what the thought was there but can't complain too much about that. Haven't tested for warmth or weather yet but look forward to trying on the slopes.

The fit is on the large side. I'm 6'2" and 230lbs so purchased the XL but found them to be too big. Returned them and got the L, and they fit just fine. Very happy with them, spent many bitter cold days in the mountains and these have held up perfectly. Perfect for layering and the protective layer on the inside leg prevents nicks and cuts from ski boots.

Just bought very recently so havent put them through a whole lot yet. Pretty impressed so far at the resort but mostly bought them for deep or cold touring days. Very comfortable, havent found any issues with freedom of movement. Vents are strategically located and they look killer. I'm 185lbs 6'0", medium are a perfect fit. They pair very well with my Rush IS jacket and the powder skirt interfaces with the snaps seamlessly and have never come undone.

Once again Arc'teryx nails this one. These pants look and feel high-end. Now that I have them in my hot little hand I'm going to address some things I found important and not mentioned in other reviews.
I wear 32-30 and if I can't find that size for that model in Arc'teryx pants (I have many) size SMALL-SHORT fit perfectly. The Sabres (size SMALL-REG) waist fits perfectly and despite being a "32 inch" inseam based on their sizing chart, they are not too long...go figure. They rock a high inseam (eg there is no sag or bag in the crotch) which is ideal for touring yet they also have WIDE pant leg bottom...plenty wide to go over any boots. They are not as baggy as I anticipated (based on model photos) in the thigh but this doesn't seem to restrict mobility any...even with the lack of stretch in the material. There is an internal cell phone pocket in the right cargo. The "lightly insulated" GoreTex is not really insulated at all...it's really just a felted/brushed backer but it feels great and would make touring sans undies quite doable...if that's your thang. And it goes without saying the quality of craftsmanship, articulated patterning and materials is unmatched...I mean come on...it's Arc'teryx. So far loving these!!

I purchased the Sabre AR pant's for ski use mainly I am 6 feet tall and very between 165 (summer) and 178 (winter) pounds. I have found the fit of these pants to be rather snug. I am a 33 inch waist. The actual waist of the pant fits fine worn higher on the waist but tight in the seat and crotch. For colder days skiing (15 degrees F to 25 degrees F) I will use a merino base layer. I haven't found the extra layer to be more restrictive, however, I do think that on colder days spent on the resort, a third layer may not fit. I wouldn't say the fit is "bad", I prefer a higher crotch pant to allow greater leg range of motion. Zipper placement does seem high and makes it difficult to go to the bathroom. The length is perfect (I generally wear a 32 inch inseam pant).
What I enjoy most about these are the solid construction. They feel very durable and the build quality is very high. The protection on the instep side of each pant leg seems like it will last for some time but I can only guess since I only have a half-season in them.
I have also used them on some winter bike rides, turning the gators from the inside of the pant over the outside was a great way to keep the pant away from my bike chain and the pants themselves provided good protection from the elements.
In all, I highly recommend these pants for mid to high output activities. They have gotten a little cold just sitting on the lift with a baselayer. For colder temperature resort skiing (10 degrees F and down) I'd go with a larger bib where I could fit a thicker layer underneath and not have to worry about trying to cram everything into a belted pant.

The fabric is less crunchy than the Patagonia PowSlayer, in my mind a direct competitor, but in field testing feels equally as waterproof/breathable and much less fragile. I'll call that a win overall.
I found the phone sleeve hard to get my big iPhone X into initially, but once it's in there it's so out of the way that I feel like Laura Croft's Tomb Raider.
Higher waist pant fit felt a little "adult" for a self-conscious 28-year-old guy who used to ski park. I felt cool, in the same way I feel cool when I learn a new skill in the garage (like rebuilding my derailleur), but not in the same way I feel cool when I land a 720.
That fit did mean however lead to exceptional touring mobility, even with the vents zipped up, and that I don't want to take these off when I get home and start cooking dinner.

This pant is the ultimate. The brushed backer material is money, providing a nice amount of warmth and it's soft next-to-skin. I would even consider not wearing a base layer on touring days. The slots in the powder cuff allow power straps to be exposed when you lift the shell layer making adjustments quick and easy - a simple and genius feature for touring transition ease, but also keeps the pant leg down and snow out. The belt performs solidly. The fit is great. The pant doesn't bind up when I'm hiking or boot packing like some others I've had. Only complaint is that I wish it had just a touch more room in the thigh to accommodate more stuff in the two thigh pockets. They're decently sized but as a matter of preference, I like to put things in my pants pockets instead of my jacket. These are my go-to resort and storm day backcountry pant.

I purchased these pants back in 2015, and I still love them today in 2019. It's a hardhsell pant, very minimal insulation, but protects me from the elements. (rain, snow, etc) My legs rarely get cold, and when I'm already wearing pants, I don't want to be too hot. Being a water proof pant (provided my Gore-Tex) is a MUST for me when it comes to Outerwear. Also, love how there are zippers I can let go at the back of the pant basically for cooling if I find myself too warm. The pockets in these pants are large and deep, I can put lots of items in whole never worrying about them getting wet due to the waterproof zipper seals. The belt added as well is great, makes me feel like the pants are secure no matter the activity.

As a predominately bib pant skier, I was thoroughly impressed with this ski pant. Its ability to have a loose cut and feel, yet not slide off my waist was the main factor. The freeride cut of the pant is super dialed, as well as the integrated belt.
Additionally the elastic boot cuff has just the right amount of tension to keep snow out, and the scuff guards hold up to hard abuse. The flannel lining doesn't increase the warmth too much, a good thing if you run hot, and the vents dump heat effectively on the skin track. The pants can take a beating in terms of nasty weather while staying dry, yet do not have that crinkly hard shell feel. Lastly, the cargo pockets are designed well to not buldge when your phone or avalanche beacon is in them.

I have been trying to replace my Sabre AR since March and have not been able to find that in a Med Short size. Is that pant going to be made available?

In my second season with these pants and they've delivered on my short checklist: a) exemplary materials & build quality, b) perfect fit even over ECWS [extreme cold weather system] thermals, c) water- and wind-proofing are second to none. These pants work well with the Sabre AR ski jacket. The zippers and pockets work single-handed and their ergonomic qualities dovetail with the jacket. In other words, a very good system for this skier. I'm 5'9", athletic build, suit size 42R slim fit, and weigh 160 lbs. I would get the short version as my inseam is 30-inches, but more of an observation rather than a complaint....

I've had these for a season. I'm 5'9 190lb with large legs and these things will only fit a single base layer underneath and are a bit restrictive if you're built like me. They are a phenomenal build and great pant but that slim fit is rough if you have large legs.

Great pant - solid construction, feels like they will last a long time. Sizing is pretty strange. I usually wear a medium and I got that size initially and the pants were very tight in the crotch. Had to size up to a large but now the waste is too big. I've just been wearing a belt to deal with this. The zipper could also be longer to make going to the bathroom easier. Only other small comment is that the way the zippers are configured on the pockets they kinda tear up your hands. Probably some sort of engineering/design solution to that. Like I said earlier super durable. Weather protection is 10/10. Vents are also great when its warmer out.

6ft and skinny, the fit is good around the legs and hips. Only complaint is the cut/sizing of the the groin area, which is very tight. Another reviewer stated that the Sabre pants powder skirt only works well with a Sabre jacket of the same size. I own a medium Sabre jacket and now small Sabre pants, the powder skirt integration works perfectly.

I am 5' 10", 172 pounds, 33 inch waist. I recently purchased the Sabre AR pants in a medium but they were tight in the waist and in the legs. So I returned them and purchased the same pants in a Large, which more or less fit.
Given that there is a significant gap in the waist size between the Medium and the Large, I do wonder why Arcteryx doesn't simply add some buttons or other fasteners to the pants and include, or separately offer, a pair of suspenders to go with the pants. Suspenders simply work better than the included belt. (I bought some third-party suspenders that are made to work with Gore-Tex material.)
Sizing issues aside, I really like the look, feel, construction and features of the pants. I have only given them four stars at this point as I have not had an opportunity to use them yet.

This pant could have been perfect if it just had zippers to go over boots. I got these to replace a Patagonia shell pant that I pretty much wore out. I was looking for a pant to go over my Arcteryx Rush Pant. The Rush goes over a base layer and is always on when touring. 90% of the time this is all I need. When the weather gets bad I wanted the Sabre to go over the Rush. But it has no boot zips so I wither need to put it on first or take my boots off while the weather is bad. Not ideal at all. As. Result these pants will not likely make it on many technical trips. They may just end up as a warmer weather resort pant.

I have skied in these pants and a Sabre jacket for two years. I'm very happy with the jacket, the pants less so. I don't know why pants that are underneath a jacket nearly all the time, need to have a fly barely long enough to be of any practical value. When the inevitable happens, the pants have to be opened up and partly dropped. The fly is useless. Like the jacket the snaps, which are mandatory to keep the pants in place, are hard to do up. The cinch belt is not very effective - to keep the pants up, I use a nylon web belt. I tried to add suspenders, but although they have pretty grippy clamps, no luck there. Some way of attaching suspenders would be helpful as a belt is constricting when skiing. On the plus side, they are wearing well and they keep me warm and dry - if only the fly was a few inches longer.
