This is a dream hiking boot: Lightweight. Waterproof. Rugged design that feels like it would handle any steep & rocky terrain -- throw in some mixed snow conditions as well. The lacing system and boot collar come together in a supportive and secure closure that will keep your feet secure and centered. The boot is designed for "fast trail hiking" and you can feel that design just trying them on. I like it! That being said, the boot has to fit. For me, this boot was a misfit. ON shoes in general run a half size smaller than one's native size. I measure a 9.5 normally, but for hiking I usually get a 10 (women's). In each of the 2020 ON running shoes and the two hiking boots I tried I required a size 10.5 to be long enough. Fine, but here's the problem: When you go to a 10.5, the boot itself gets bigger; that is, deeper and more voluminous (disproportionally bigger). Not a problem that can be fixed with thicker socks. I do not have narrow feet, but I do have long, thin feet, as well as thin ankles. (OK, that's where the "thin" stops.) If you have normally fleshy feet, this boot will probably fit you. But you will still have to go up a half size in length. If you are comparing your street shoe size to these boots, you may need to go up a full size. Be prepared to consider that just so you don't get boots that feel too short at the end of a long hike.) To sum up, these boots are a new design and you owe it to yourself to try them just to see what they are about.

I ordered this boot in three different sizes, all three were uncomfortable . I am an experienced hiker and would not recommend this boot for trail hiking. The shoes also made a rubbery sound when walking on our wooden floor.

So worth it! I've been a moderate hiker for years, but always managed to get by with sturdy running shoes. I've recently upped my hiking game so decided I really needed to upgrade to legitimate hiking shoes! My criteria was to find an attractive looking shoe in all black that was easy to break in and my search led me here. So impressed with these shoes. I took them on a walk first to break them in and followed up with a hike the next day and they were just perfect.

LOVE these! I ordered up half a size as I always do in sneakers- normally an 8- got an 8 1/2. Plenty of sock room and so so comfy. Love all ON.

I bought a half size larger than my normal size and they fit fine. The material was nice. They were pretty comfortable but I didn't like the bulky look to them. They're a cute style but I wanted something a bit more sleek and simple.

Super comfortable footbed, firm but flexible sole with good traction. I accidentally wore an ankle sock on my first hike in them and it scratched the outer part of my upper ankle on the collar of the shoe so I definitely wore a sock high enough to cover my entire ankle after that. I walked through a grassy meadow and no dampness inside so that was a big plus. I normally wear an 8.5/9 and I ordered the 9, it fits perfect! Overall, very pleased with the quality and fit!

I ordered these to replace a pair of earth brand snow boots I had had for probably a decade. I needed them to be waterproof and light and flexible and comfortable. I used them for snowshoeing and hiking in snow with microspikes. They kept my feet warm and comfortable and dry all day. We probably only went about 5 miles but I was really happy with the new addition. No idea why they needed to be so crazy expensive and I have some buyers remorse about that but with the backing of Zappos’s I was willing to give them a try and I do really like (maybe love) them and plan to for at least 10 years to come. Thank you for making them just black. Not purple, not turquoise. Hallelujah! Fit a bit small so I ordered half a size larger than usual.

For some reason I didn't listen to the recommendations to go up in size - I'm pretty sure I'd need a whole size up for these. I'm not going to re-order though, since my heel already is slipping out and I think it would be more of a problem with a bigger size. I do like the look pretty well, but am looking for something more lightweight and a bit less bulky.

Love these boots! They were very comfortable during my trip in Peru to go hiking in Machu Picchu, Colorful Mountain, Cusco, Lima, etc. I get many compliments when I wear them. I am glad I got half size bigger to have a little extra room.

Love these! I'm a size 6.5 in puma, range between a 6-6.5 in nike & adidas, and took a 6.5 in these. They fit perfectly with cushioned socks, I didn't have any uncomfortable break-in time. I really appreciate that they're a womens hiking boot in a neutral color, which is surprisingly very tough to find.

I usually wear size 9.5, medium width. I ordered a 10 based on past reviews, and they fit great with medium weight socks. Toe box is roomy, but feet are nicely seated and supported. Walked 5 miles on concrete with these, right out of the box. Very lightweight, and they (really!) feel like walking on air. Finally, my older hips and knees are free of pain in these shoes, and my ankles are stabilized. They may not be conventionally stylish, but they certainly are eye catching with the soles. They have a high tech style vibe.

Great soles but awful thick seam rubs on ankle bones, making it impossible to walk, cannot even imagine hiking in these.

I was disappointed in this boot, but it was the first time I had tried this style. Unless you have tried this on, I wouldn't recommend purchasing on line. I've always been a solid size 7. When I attempted to try them on, I had to look at the size to be sure I ordered correctly! I couldn't get my foot in them, and, when I did, they were so tight I felt like circulation was being cut off. I have never had this experience with any other boot/shoe. So strange.

Got it for traveling and hiking. Love it! It has a tight like a glove fit. Very comfortable.

These do run a whole size to half size smaller in cloud 5 I wear 10.5 got an 11 in these to wear better thicker socks.

I ordered up a 1/2 size and they fit perfect. I had no break in time before walking 6 miles with 2000ft elevation gain and they felt GREAT! I had no sore spots the next day when so put them back on. They are lightweight and flexible. I love these boots!

I really love ON shoes. This is my 5th pair and am very happy with the hiking boot style. They are light weight and look really nice, very comfortable. I both stretch shoe laces for these and they look great!

the tongue allowed moisture in but this is the first running boot that has kept my socks dry at my toes this came in wide yet fit i usually wear a medium but my oh my what a great fit 5 stars

Fits nicely and is comfortable for hiking. Have not yet checked as to how waterproof it is.

I went up a half size larger than I normally wear due to the other reviews. I normally wear a 6.5 - 7 in ladies, so I ordered a 7.5. This boot ended up being HUGE on me. Now I have to return for my true size 6.5.

The shoe is a perfect fit, feel, look, everything EXCEPT, unfortunately the top inside rivet on, inside of shoe, left foot, pressed/rubbed terribly on ankle bone was so disappointed, beautiful boot. Ironically, my girlfriend bought the same shoe direct from ON and experienced the same problem. I wear a size 8.5 normally, bought size 9, a little long but perfect with winter socks.

I was looking for shoe with a sturdy, inflexible sole at the forefront due to a previous foot injury. This is a good looking shoe, especially for a hiking boot! The sole was more flexible than i wanted or expected it to be, but obviously the whole sole is pretty thick. They do feel more narrow than other hiking boots of the same size that I've tried so size up.

Much heavier than On Cloud running shoes, wasn't what I expected.
