This is a great hiking boot for when support and water protection are paramount. They aren't as light as a trail running shoe and they aren't meant to be. If you need something that is solid and lasts, this should be your go-to.

First pair of these for me. Very comfortable straight out the box, once you've found the right size (12.5 for me - I'm normally a 12 but sized up as advised). Lightweight and feel like slippers after a few miles. Would highly recommend.

I've owned these for over 9 months now so I feel I can report accurately on how they've been. I used them as casual boots around town, as full on hiking boots in the very wet highlands and even at work whilst working on a rescue hovercraft on the coast. They've been waterproof without question, super comfortable and true to size and even after heavy use have remained in remarkably good condition. The only criticisms I can really level at them are that the laces have started to fray a bit where they pass through the metal eyelets and the side of the tongue on both boots is starting to fray but it's not noticeable when the boots are done up and being worn. If you're looking for a first class general outdoors/hiking/waterproof/trekking about boot then I don't think you could do a lot better than these. Good work Arcteryx.

Finished up my first spring/summer season on these boots. Great fit right out of the box and a minimal break-in period. I've used these on all sorts of approaches; from snowy slippery rocks, and lichen-covered granite, to desert sandstone. They have stood up to the abuse I've thrown at them. My only qualm is the laces. After a season of use, the laces have shredded where they go through the clamp. I will eventually replace it with a more rugged dyneema lace. For an approach/backpacking boot it does come with the benefit of style and design. As a casual boot, they have worked as well with being a black colorway and don't attract attention like your standard "technical bootwear". Overall it's been a positive experience with these boots so far. I have a wider foot and the 9 is a good fit.

This is the issued boot for Fire Fighters on the North Shore of North Van, who conduct hundreds of rescues a year. Zero warranty issues and the boots show little wear. I 100% rec'd these boots.

Was in a bit of a bind so got these boots last minute before a 5 day trek and didn't have time to break them in... Needless to say they were perfect! I didn't get a single blister (which I am prone to normally) and they were so lightweight so I didn't feel like I was constantly lifting bricks on my feet:) Highly highly recommend these boots!

I have used this boots as winter shoes and they are pretty good at that. The feet does get little cold as these are hiking shoes and not winter but still no complaint at all except the fact that I had to put new laces after a month of use. And this pair has gone way beyond my expectations.

I've put countless miles on these boots over the last 24 months. They are without a doubt, THE BEST HIKING BOOTS I HAVE EVER OWNED. Extremely light for their burliness, super comfortable, zero hotspots in hundreds of rocky trail miles. On my children's eyes, these boots required ZERO break-in. Super compliant, yet amazingly supportive on the rockiest trails. Don't know how Arcteryx does it, but these are a Masterwork of technical footwear engineering. The materials are amazing. The synthetic uppers are made from some kind of super durable Kevlar like material that honestly looks and feels like lizard skin with little beads. Wonderfully flexible yet virtually impossible to puncture or mar. These things still look amazing with all those rocks and miles and clean-up really easy with a wet washcloth. Even the rubber toe cap is hard to scratch for Christ's sake! High confidence grippy soles, even on wet, seriously angled broad granite boulder surfaces. These things are the hiking bomb, period, end-of-story.

Bought these boots with a rugged northern Ontario (La Cloche Silhouette Trail) fall hike in mind, have put about 130km on them between that trip, practice day hikes, and one rainy long hike 20km in eastern Quebec. I typically hike in trail runners, with the Norvan VT2's being a previous Arcteryx favorite for rocky terrain. Ordered size based of the Norvan's and fit was good for me - as I like lighter socks (e.g. smartwool approach). Did not get as much break-in as I would prefer, but zero issues with blistering or hotspots. Support was solid - and they were comfortable over rocky terrain on 16-20km days with a 25lb+load. Good protection on/around loose rocks, or jamming feet into cracks. Super impressed with waterproofing - got caught in a thunderstorm on the backpacking trip, and rained all day on the Quebec day hike with trails turning into streams, and both times feet were surprisingly dry. Would definitely be too hot for summer hiking, and laces are a little finicky. Also found debris working it's way into the tongue/laces. They're heavier than I normally like to hike, but surprisingly nimble for a boot though. Still, these are pretty minimal complaints, and I expect these boots to be a good companion provided the upper durability pans out - and I feel like weight/heat issues would be worse with the leather upper competitors.

They're great boots. My only issue is that the laces seem to be starched and don't stay done up. I'll probably buy some better ones.

This hiking boot is well designed and perfect for non technical hiking. I had gone away from hiking boots and was using shoes. Now that I have come back to the hiking boot side of things I am blown away. the lateral support, the edging while side hilling, the waterproofness. Everything combines to make a perfect hiking boot. the kevlar like material looks really burly and I know these will last for years to come.

I have worn lowa, Danner, red wing, you name it and I have given them my torture test. I have been trying boots for twenty years. Now on to my review: absolutely nothing I have worn is as light as these boots. The fabric exterior has been bumped against raw steel by accident, no marks on the surface. They felt like an old pair of slippers from day one (if you like that sort of thing) I walk 3 to 5 miles a day indoors on concrete. No worries. I look down to see old pair of boots they are that comfortable, yet what I see are the amazing super boots. The look is not for everyone, but they also don't purchase arcteryx either. Can't say enough how impressive they are .

Mine will be going on a year soon and still in great condition. I use them for trail work, so sometimes they get hit with tools and put through different terrains and still holding up amazingly!!! Also use for hiking and backpacking too. Just took some time to break them in and recommend doing so!!!

Bought these last winter and took them on two long backpack trips this summer and fall: 80 miles and 40 miles, respectively, with about 25K feet of elevation gain in total. The boots were comfortable (no blisters at all), extremely light weight, with good ankle support. They were also completely waterproof, and incredibly durable--the toe cap rubber isn't separating from the fabric (as happens in so many boots of this design), and there's no sign of wear and tear. The bottom set of eyelets have a great locking feature, which makes it easy to set the tightness just right for your feet, even if you want more freedom of motion around your ankles. I also noticed that they don't come untied, even without double-knotting. Altogether a great pair of boots.

My wife and I purchased the Acrux TR GTX boots for men and women prior to our adventure trip to Arizona and Utah. Fresh out of the box both of us were surprised at how amazingly comfortable the boots were! We hiked camelback mountain, devils bridge, bright angel trail and the narrows in these awesome boots. Our feet never blistered and always felt comfortable! The boots also clean up and dry very quickly! We highly recommend these boots to anyone who puts the miles in!! Thank you Arc'teryx for designing such a high quality and comfortable boot!
