After Brooks altered the design of the GTS 17 I had to start looking for a sneaker that would correct my overpronation, so I can avoid knee pain. Manufacturers are slaves to fashion and the current trend is to lose the structure of the upper because that's what's in style. But it's not what makes a stable shoe. In my search I came across this NB shoe and so far it checks all the boxes. It has visible and feelable overpronation correction. The heel is built up on the inside as it should be. There is additional outside structure on the inside of the shoe from the arch to the instep where the shoe laces, providing additional support. The heel is stable. The upper is still light and flexible so I don't feel like I'm wearing my great grandmother's orthopedic shoes. The gray is a nice understated color and the logo blends in nicely with it. I was worried that the sock cuff would mean lack of ankle support but in this case it doesn't. It does run large compared to other brands, so I'm just waiting to see if I should stick with the size I ordered or the smaller one that's on the way. I will keep one or the other for sure, and probably order an additional pair for when they are inevitably replaced by the newer model. I wish they came in more colors. I don't care for the bright white N on the black or burgundy. All in all though, it's an excellent shoe that does with it claims to do and I'm grateful to New Balance for making it available.

I. Love. This. Shoe. I am a nurse. I walk for 12 hours a day on concrete floors, and these shoes feel awesome all day long. I ordered a second pair for when these wear out. I feel like hoarding more for later. If you are like me: 5'9," 154 pounds, female, slim legs and ankles, large flat feet with a tailor's bunion (don't my feet sound gorgeous!) give these shoes a try!

I really wanted to love the shoes but am sending them back because:
- the tongue is designed to mimic a sock but the material is not right for a sock so it irritates my ankles
- I suffer from overpronation (flat feet). There isn’t any arch support.
- the uppers don’t provide enough structure. It’s like wearing a sock attached to a 1-inch platform.
- for the price, the shoes should be better. Feels like a $30-$50 shoe. For over $100 I expect better so I’m returning.

I was disappointed that this shoe did not work for me. It is amazingly supportive, cushiony and corrects over pronation. However, I have a high instep and because this shoe has a wrap around design and a high tongue, it was uncomfortable and begins to dig in to the top of my foot. If you have a flat, lower profile foot it is a fantastic shoe. I loved the design (black/white). I hope NB might come out with this model with the traditional opening/lacing system and shorter tongue so there is room for adjustment for those with higher instep/arch.

I love New Balance and have worn for years without ever getting a blister. I wore these for 1 mile and got a blister and my daughter had the same problem.

As one who loved the 860’s until they changed them with the v10, I was on the hunt for a supportive shoe for my overpronation. I wore these for the first time on a 16 mile run and they did not disappoint. Very supportive, comfortable and stylish. My only complaint is the sock-like built in. It rubs the front of my ankle and while not noticeable on short runs, it is super annoying around mile 10-11. I did 17 miles yesterday then put them on today for a recovery run and the area it rubbed felt bruised. Still a 5 star shoe but I hope they change that feature in the next version!

I was worried about these shoes looking too bulky, but I really needed something with intense support for over-pronation. To my surprise, they actually look really great on, and they're not heavy at all. I have gotten several compliments on them. The sock-like interior instead of a traditional tongue makes it a little harder to easily slip on, but once they're on they feel great. I also wish the heel went up a little higher in the back, but this is just nit-picking. If you struggle with over-pronation these are a great option, or if you just generally want a really stable shoe.

The actual shoe fits well, but the tongue/sock like thing is super annoying. I can’t just slip my foot in, it’s a bit of a process to wiggle my foot in if I’m wearing socks. Small thing, but just a little hassle.

my foot is narrow, and this is a medium width - but it's not - bec of the sock part of the sneaker - it's actually a little hard to put on. i had to buy a shoe horn to get it on. but overall, it is VERY COMFORTABLE!! i cooked in them on friday from 6am to 4pm -- and was not anymore tired than when i'm standing only a couple of hours. and i didn't get a spasm that night. so overall and A+++++

I wanted to love these shoes. New Balance is all I wear. I have flat feet and saw other people mention they had flat feet and liked these shoes. However, I had three issues. First, as others have mentioned, I could feel the outside edges of the shoe, even when I put in my own New Balance orthotic. Second, I felt like I was walking on the outside of my feet. And last while the shoes themself seemed comfortable, I could tell by walking across my living room floor that they were not right for my feet and the structural issues I have. I did not feel the support that I feel with New Balance shoes that have a Roll Bar. So for people who don't need the added stability and support these are probably terrific shoes.

Yikes. I wish I could return these shoes. I have a narrow foot, and mild over-pronation. I thought I would really like these for circuit training. It has an enormous amount of cushion, which I thought would be good. Unfortunately, they hurt my feet-specifically the arch area- because they slideall over the place within the shoe. Also, it is extremely wide toe box and causes a weird "buckle." I took a picture for reference. I'm upset because these were so expensive!

Grest sneakers. I had a post-tibial tendon transfer four years ago and these are the first sneakers (with an OTC orthotic)that made stairs a snap. The toe box on a wide is very wide. The fabric is supportive without being rigid. The part of the sneaker against the top of the foot could be a bit smoother inside the shoe. They come up very high on the foot due to the built in sock feature. But I hate wearing socks so these are a good alternative for me. Great shoe for any pronaters. Highly recommend.

For some reason despite having fairly narrow feet I could feel the edges of the insert or perhaps the guide bars of the shoe against the outer edges of the soles of my feet. Returned because of the uncomfortable fit.

I loved these shoes...BUT, had to return them because the built-in tongue they have in this version came up too high on me, rubbing my skin and therefore being quite annoying. I wish they had a tongue more like the Omni.

These are very comfortable but run about a half size longer than normal (for other shoes and for this brand). The collar is a bit tight, despite it being elastic material. Elastic laces can be adjusted. Cool and lightweight.
I am going to try the half size down -

I have very narrow feet, but the regular width is pretty wide. Wider than the standard regular width in my opinion. The cushion is amazing and I replaced the insoles with my favorite ones meant for high arches. The insoles lift my foot a little too high in the shoe for the support on either side of the heel to matter, so keep that in mind if you’re planning on replacing the insoles. Altogether, this is a great shoe for standing, walking, and jogging!

I have previously had the Vongo v2 which was great! The Vongo 4 is way too small. The new 'sock-like' liner (replacing the tongue) made it almost impossible to get the shoe on - your sock grabs the liner).

Normally wear an 8 1/2 in a running shoe. Ordered these in an 8 and fit fine. Only been on a couple runs.... not in love with this shoe yet.

I should have heeded the warning from a review that the tongue of this sneaker is attached and getting your foot into the shoe is next to impossible. No room for orthotics, nor socks. Not enough arch support for overpronation. For the high price of these shoes, it's "criminal" they are so cheaply made.

They fit like a glove. The only issue is that although the liner is removable, the shoes aren’t deep enough to accommodate my ortho inserts. The arch is very supportive though.

Had a recent injury and noticed that current shoe size at 5&1/2 were fitting too tight due to swelling, especially at the toe box. Bought these at size 6 and they fit perfect! The comfort and support given were excellent especially given that I’m an overpronater. The arch support is perfect for me, too high of an arch doesn’t work for me since my arch tends to disappear when I walk so I need push back at the arch without the height. My only complaint is that the toe box looks wide, kind of like duck feet, however with my current issues that is what I need, so I’ll take comfort over style any day!

I have a very high arch and run/walk about 5-9 miles a day. These are helping me recover from some bad shoes (for my feet). Not a fan of the inner sock liner bc it makes it much harder to slip on with a high arch and a thin sock ...these seem great as far as cushioning and arch support and my knees do not hurt after wearing them although I am experiencing a little outer ankle tension near the end of the sessions.

These are certainly not as good as any of my previous New Balance running shoes. The insole is hard as a rock at the toe. Little arch support.
