I have bunion and ordered extra extra wide. Shoes are comfortable and do not hurt my bunion. They are true size. I wear size 6.5 and ordered 6.5 and fit perfectly. Love the shoes.

Shoes are light weight yet very comfortable. I have tried many shoes and many brands. These shoes are perfect out of the box. There is no break-in period. My inserts fit easily inside the shoes.

These shoes had everything I was looking for except for one thing. I have custom orthotics and even after removing their insert, the shoes weren’t deep enough for my orthotics. They actually came in narrow and god traction.

I have plantar fasciitis and achilles tendinitis. For years I wore Asics and they were great. Then Asics changed their design they didn't work for me so I tried all the brands recommended for plantar fasciitis. This shoe is the best I've found so far when I use it with my Sole inserts. It's true what the other reviewers have said. The shoelaces are too short. I can tie them but just barely. But I can walk almost pain free so I kept them.

I've been struggling with a Posterior Tibial Tendonitis injury. New Balance 1540v3 were recommended by various websites . I ordered my usual size and width for athletic shoes and was surprised that my orthotic inserts fit as they are fairly high. The only problem is my feet look red where the laces were tightened when I take the shoes off. The podiatrist said to lace them up so they are supportive for my PTTD. I ordered oval 63" grey laces to replace the bright blue ones that come with the light grey (Polaris). I like to double knot them. They are very sturdy and I've worn them so much that I ordered a second pair. If you have a need for supportive shoes you might try these.

I have worn the 1540 for 7 years, but this version is so cheaply made. I purchased these on February 9 2022 from Zappos, and by May the lining fabric was falling apart at the heels and also at the top of the laces. Previous versions of this shoe lasted me for years! I like this style because it gives my flat feet lots of support and accommodates my orthotics. But this version 3 is truly an expensive disappointment.

Wide sole helps keep my feet stable and prevents me from over pronating. I’m on my feet all day and at the end of the day my feet are very happy. The mesh keeps my feet cooler and they reflect great at night. They are very supportive and wide enough to accommodate my prescription orthotics. The tongue rubs though and has caused premature wear and tear on the shoe. I had to return the grey choice after wearing only a few months because it really wore out faster than it should have. Zappos has excellent return policy. I’m have to keep these b/c I cannot find another pair of shoes that help w/pronation.

Fit was perfect. Shoe bed felt like wood. Very stiff. No way you could run in these shoes.

These are my fourth or fifth pair of the v3. They are ugly shoes in colors I guess the designer thought would appeal to boring old people. However, they work with my super wide feet and still allow me to use my custom orthotics. Very few shoes can do that for me. The stiff sole is very supportive for long walks and long days on my feet. These were recommended by my podiatrist/pedorthist and they allow me to be active without triggering my plantar fasciitis. I hope when NB designs v4 that they make the heel narrower, add more padding to the tongue and provide longer laces.

Been buying this version for a few years. Just bought again after wearing out my previous pair and reminded just how good these feel for my problem feet: wide and with plantar fasciitis. Immediate relief for my heels. My only gripe is that the shoelaces loosen easily - I always have to double knot.

This is my third pair of the 1540 series. They are my favourite shoe!
I got the first pair (1540v2) after a knee surgery. I did a lot of research into good shoes for plus size people. These seemed to be very popular, and the rollbar appealed to me for walking around, making sure I wasn't over or under pronating while trying to heal. I still have them, but my feet have changed and they don't fit right right now.
The second pair I got were a fail. I ordered based off the first pair, which was not smart on my part. They were very tight. I thought the toe boxes were being made smaller, but turns out my feet had changed and I ordered too small. I gave them to my friend and she is still wearing them.
This pair I got for work. I work on my feet all day, I work a lot of overtime and I wear orthotics. These have not been the magical cure. I have other foot issues to deal with so my feet are always sore after work, but these have definitely improved the amount of pain a lot. I don't get sore in my ankles, knees or hips anymore.
I wore a pair of Fresh Foam runners before these ones, and although they are a bit lighter and more flexible, not all of us benefit from that. I'm sooo happy I tried these again, sized to what my feet are now.
They are expensive, but worth it. From the rollbar in the heel giving me great stability, to the wider toe box, to the large range of sizes, I believe I will always be a New Balance customer.

this is my 4th pair of 1540v3 women's shoes. this is my everyday shoe. this shoe was recommended to me by my orthotist who also wears them. i appreciate less side to side movement with this show. i use it for riding my bike, walking, out and about shoe. i like them a lot. this current shoe is a charcoal color and shows less dirt. i am sure i will buy them again.

I have narrow feet and this shoe is great! New Balance is one of the few (if not only) company making narrow shoes. The fit, the colors, the life of this shoe is excellent.
