As a fan of Red Wing Heritage boots, I thought it was a great idea to buy these for my wife; I was mistaken. I have four different pairs of men's Iron Rangers (among other models) and I can say unequivocally, the women's Iron Ranger is NOT built to the same standard as the men's. I feel like they swapped durability and longevity for comfort and style. Now, while I can understand this to some extent, the price tag doesn't reflect it - the men's and women's are the same price.
The leather on my (men's) amber harness Iron Rangers feels thicker, tougher. When I hold my boot in my hand, it feels like a good boot. The amber harness women's boot feels cheap. It's very light. The leather feels thinner. The insole isn't a full slab of veg tanned leather like in the men's, it's a piece of soft leather lined squishy foam. On top of that, besides the cheaper insole material, there is a large gap around the outer edge of the insole between it and the actual leather of the shoe that my wife's little toe was falling into.
Maybe her pair was an anomaly, maybe it was a Friday at 4:55pm boot, I don't know. Overall, pretty disappointing for a $320 USA made boot.

Sturdy and stylish! I tagged these as narrow because they fit my narrow foot perfectly. Give these a try!
PS: to whomever returned these first… shame on you for stealing the manufacturer box, the felt protective covers and the certificate of authenticity and getting all your money back! And come on Zappos, sending me merchandise in a junky box with no documentation? For $300+, you can do better than that!

My normal foot size is 6-1.2 but I usually order a 7 in shoes/boots that run narrow. I read the reviews about the Iron Ranger (and Red Wing Heritage for women) and decided to go up another 1/2 size to a 7-1/2. My foot is a wide by 1 pink, so I don't need a wide width unless the foot bed is cut narrow.
These boots fit perfectly. The leather is gorgeous, and it does stretch. The fit was a bit tight at first but within 5 minutes of walking around the house in these boots, they are conforming to my feet. Beautiful beautiful footwear. And Made In The USA label on the inside tip of the tongue.

I’m a 9.5. Ordered a 9.5. Length was accurate. I have a narrow heel but wide-ish forefoot. Not usually wide enough to necessitate buying wide shoes as long as the design isn’t tapered/pointy in the toe box. These felt nicely snug around my mid foot, but a little too snug around my 4th, 5th, and “6th” toe bone. Not terrible, but not quite enough space to be comfortable.
Leather feels rich a supple, but the amber harness brown wasn’t as interesting as the copper rough and tough offered in the Silversmith style (it’s hard to tell in pictures, but that leather shows lovely orangey-copper creases as the leather bends, creases and breaks in- making it just look richer and better over time). However it might be a better choice if you want the boot to look “new” or more polished.

These boots fit like a glove. The reviews state that there isn't a lot of wiggle room either in the heel or toe box and that's true. They are not tight, however. They are very comfortable with mid-weight wool socks. It took only one short walk to my office to decide they are perfect and worth the cost. I love how the tongue is sewed farther up the sides than some boots. It stays in place without needing a loop on the front.

I absolutely love these boots! The break-in period is definitely no joke and was absolutely painful so be prepared. Took about 2 weeks of wearing them to really feel good. It's been 2 months now and they fit perfectly. They looks great and the leather feels nice and soft. Tempted on buying them in all colors.

I would recommend these boots. I have had mine for almost a year, and they have held up really well. I wear them pretty much everyday its under 55/60 degrees (in Wisconsin, that's a lot). They were comfy when I got them and still are. I condition the leather about every month or two and it's held up really well, and looks only lightly used.

I normally wear a size 8 or 8.5 in sneakers, decided to get these in size 8 and they fit snug (but not uncomfortable) around the toe area. I've read reviews on reddit that say you're suppose to have a snug fit because the leather will stretch as you wear them out. I have narrow feet, so I can't comment much about the width. The build quality of these boots are amazing. I can smell the strong scent of leather when I took them out of the box and when I put them on my feet, I can really tell that these were built to last. For me, these were a bit stiff, but still comfortable right out of the box. After wearing them out for 2 weeks, the forefoot area has gotten significantly more comfortable when my toes bend as I walk. I agree with a previous reviewer, the leather around the ankle might take some time to break in (b/c there isn't much movement in that area normally). I just wear a pair of long socks and they have given me no problem at all. I expect these to last me many years to come!

I normally wear a 9.5 to 10, and found the 9.5 to be a better fit. It's a little snug, but the leather stretches as you break them in. The break in period is pretty rough, but after a couple weeks they'll be the most comfortable boot you own! Mine have held up amazingly well over the years, and are still fairly waterproof, though I definitely recommend the occasional cleaning and conditioning. These are boots built to last and very comfortable after the break-in period!

These boots are so beautiful. I wore them to my job and got multiple compliments! They take a bit to break in, so I may feel better about the comfort soon. Recommend mink oil to help the breaking in process.

I ordered the Red Wing Heritage Iron Ranger boot in black. I can tell these boots are sturdy and well made (in the USA!) and I like the polished, tailored look. The fit is perfect for my size 9.5 regular width feet. I need a stiff sole and this boot has it. The arch support is medium; more than the typical shoe but less than a Birkenstock. The only thing I’d change is to allow the footbed/insole to be removed. I am unable to use my orthotic in these boots, but because the sole is so stiff and there is some arch support, it should be okay for me.

this is a stiffer boot made for exactly what you would think to hike , walk. Beautifully made. I bought a size 6 and I wear a size 51/2 It is perfect with a heavier sock which is what I wanted. The quality is excellent. You will need to walk around a bit to break them in. Overall excellent

Feel and look good on feet. All day comfort out of the box working 8 hrs on concrete floors day 1. The Clove acampos is what I would describe as a ginger bread like color. The rough out is interesting and rugged. Love them so far !

I just got these but haven't worn them out and about yet. Really well made and heavier than I was expecting (in a good way). My only gripe is that they didn't come in the original box. It was an Amazon-esque "frustration free" package, claiming the original box was damaged in shipment. The boots weren't stuffed with paper like I would expect on new boots, but they seem to be unworn upon inspection. For $300+ for a pair of boots, I'd expect pristine packaging. I bet they were a return which kind of icks me out... but... they were the last pair left in my size, so hey, sounds good! (I'd have recycled the box anyhow.)

Had to size UP hapf a size because the first pair I ordered in my regular 6.5 was an incredibly tight, narrow squeeze. Maybe it was a defective pair because I’ve never returned shoes for being too narrow before. This pair, though, size 7, are beautifully made and just such a timeless style. Love them!

Absolutely the cutest! I have a small foot so some shoes look too chunky or clodhoppery. I chose the brown so the natural leather would show. These look so cool and although a little stiff at first they’ve already softened. The leather is such good quality that should wear well for years. I’m so pleased that I don’t mind the price...got what I paid for! Looking forward to wearing these with skirts, jeans, and leggings.

Make no mistake, this is a lovely boot. I returned as I thought leather above my ankle would take a long time to break in. The leather, the color, the sole and craftsman ship was beautiful.

I love these boots. They both fit and felt comfortable right out of the box. I wore them all day without any problem at all. Better yet, they are beautifully made and better looking than shown online. I bought them to replace a pair of Frye boots that I wore for over a decade but are no longer made. I expect these boots will last as long as my Frye boots, if not longer, especially since I can send them back to Red Wing for new soles when the time comes.

I love these boots. I typically wear a 10 1/2 women’s and ordered the size 10 and they fit great. I love that they are narrow too. Great for work or walking around town.

Amazing quality leather, design and construction. Leather is very stiff so expect a break in period. I always struggle with size, and this was no different: I normally wear a 5.5 and the 6 was huge on me. The 5.5 was also too big.

These were beautiful, leather looked great, they just didn't fit my foot right. No matter which socks I put on my heel was slipping but my toes were being squeezed from the sides. My feet fit most shoes well but they are narrow at the heal and wider at the toes which can make shoes that run narrow difficult.

I've had a pair of red wing slides (bought in Red wing MN) for 11 years and always wanted to get Red Wing boots, but did not get them due to the cost. I finally felt I was able to afford a pair due them being on sale. On first seeing the boots out of the box, I thought they would fit super tight on me, but I got them on and it's snug but not bad. I had to clip my toenails down to nothing though because one dug into my middle toe while walking with the in them. My heels slip up a little so I haven't walked more than 1.75 miles yet. I'm hoping that with usage, they will soon be my favorite boots and that I'll still be wearing 20 years from now. I have patience. They may be better for casual wear than for long walks and travel, though. We'll see. I think the work boots with the orangish leather and white heels look like they'd have more toe room than the Iron Rangers.

I usually wear an 8.5 in Red Wings, but i could barely get this shoe on my foot, let alone have it be comfortable. Beautiful boots, and perfectly made, just surprisingly too small for me. I will be exchanging to try a larger size.

Wore them around the house 30 minutes. The leather felt nice and formed to my feet. But as expensive as they are, they felt a bit too narrow in the forefoot for me to feel I could keep them.
