FINALLY!!! A pair of shoes that fit perfect!
And in nice not gaudy colors! Put these on right out of the box and perfect comfort. Great ankle support and good arch support...room for orthotic if needed. Nice looking and not clunky. Thanks Zappos for all my trial and error returns! I will be ordering a second pair of these. I had given up on new balance but they finally got it right again

these look like they'd be really comfortable. But somehow I didn't know that the shoe doesn't open -- the laces are for show and you have to PULL the shoe on. With a thin pair of sox, I couldn't get the shoe on; there's no pull tab in the back. Probably could have gotten them on if I was willing to spend 15 minutes on each shoe. What a pity. they're on their way back. Would have been helpful to know early that these were pull ons, not regular, lace-up, with a tongue, sneakers.

So happy I found these! A great combination of style, support, cushioning that will be perfect for walking Michigan trails. True to size. The toe box is roomy, midsole feels secure and supportive. These shoes hug my feet and cradle my bunion. Absolutely no pressure or pain. No break-in needed. Some other reviewers have complained (mildly) about the tongue design. The tongue keeps stones and dirt from entering the shoe. It is an innovation that requires just a little bit more time and care to get these shoes on/off. It is well worth the minimal extra effort. The shoe box is roomy enough to accommodate my bunion. I tried numerous trail run shoes, across a wide price range, before finding these. Overall, a worthwhile purchase for me.

I absolutely love the fit of these! I had foot surgery awhile back and also have hammer toes, so I had pretty much given up finding shoes that I can wear for more than an hour. I got these yesterday and wore them right out of the box for 12 hours, pain-free. They have great support all around - I went for a long walk with my dog on some trails and they almost felt bouncy each time my foot hit the ground. I love them! They're very cute too. I was worried that they would look really big & clunky on my feet (I'm a small person with really big wide feet) but they don't at all. I love the colors too-they look like they do on the screen. Zappos service was awesome as always too. Thank you Zappos!!

Fit nice. Since they are terrain they aren’t as soft as your running sneakers but are lightweight

I am writing this review as I saw negative comments about the tongue of the sneaker, that it is attached to the shoe. I love it! Think of it as slipping your foot into a sleeve of sorts, you don't have to worry about it slipping off to one side or the other, and pebbles won't get in your shoe when outside. I'm buying a pair for my son, who is lazy about tying his shoes correctly and when we hike is always stopping to shake out his shoe. The pair I buy for him will be his new hiking shoes! I'm glad I bought them for that reason and they are comfortable. They also make my feet look smaller ;)

Wore them on a 3 mile hike at Carter Caves State Park today. First time I had worn them. The were VERY comfortable, good support on rough terrain, so I was SO glad I bought them. They fit well with socks that are Moderate or Light Heavy..

This shoe was the cutest of the three that I ordered. However, I hated the way they fit. They were very difficult to get on and off. Very tight as the tongue is fixed and the shoe does not open very wide at the top. I have an average width foot. The toe box was way to tight and there was little to no cushioning in the shoe. I have arthritis in my knee and I need a shoe with good cushion. I had to send them back. Zappo's is so good about this that it amazes me. Thank you Zappos!

Very comfortable. I wish the tongue was longer or more stretchy because it is a little hard to get on.

very hard to get on if you have a high Instep, as they don’t have a detachable tongue. Once they are on they are comfortable and decent looking.

Like so many other reviewers, I am having a difficult time just getting these sneakers on. Once my foot is in there, it is okay. Did New Balance have real people try this on? I still have not decided whether to return them or not since I bought them on sale, but I don't want to spend 10 or 15 minutes putting on sneakers. And in addition, I have trouble getting them off! Actually now that I have written this review, I have decided to return them. They are cute but they seem to be for people who have narrow feet and can just easily slip them on.

I wanted to love these shoes, but alas, it was not meant to be. There's no tongue, per se. It is fully attached to each side of the shoe. If you have a high instep like I do, it can make getting your foot in a real choir. If you wear an Ankle Foot Orthotic like I do, there's no way you can get your foot in the shoe. You need a shoe with a tongue that is not attached. Disappointing, so I'll be sending the shoes back.

Very supportive material. Very happy I decided to get a half size bigger and wide width. This is my first shoe since foot surgery and I'm happy with my decision to purchase these.

This is a great-looking, mostly comfortable shoe. I had to size up from 11 to 12, but had there been an 11 1/2 (there never is) it would have been better. But I have plenty of room in the toe box and space for warm socks. I wore them hiking today and they offer great support for uneven trails. The collar rubbed on my ankle bone on uneven terrain and the arch support could be a little better, but I have fairly high arches. Overall they were comfortable for a moderately rugged hike and will do the trick.

I love the comfort it offers to my ailing arch. I have flat arch and I needed shoes that could some how hold the arch together. Though no tongue, it's hard to put them on. Usually I wear size 9.5W, but I decided to purchase 10.5, thanks to some reviews I read. The only struggle I have is putting the shoes on. Otherwise shoes are solid, light and comfortable. Happy I bought the pair!

Looks-wise, the marblehead/magnet color is probably the best designed tennis/light hiking shoe I've ever seen. (I'm an artist, I can be easily swayed by good design.) Without a tongue ???, the shoe is a bit tough to get on, but they do go on and I suspect the built up sides and back would lend more stability to the ankle. The high back is a bit stiff but it doesn't seem to matter with socks on, and seems like it will soften up. I've only worn them around the house since it is below zero outside, but they are plenty comfy. I ordered half size up to fit socks in and summer swelling of feet when you're hiking and they feel good. It actually concerns me that these shoe weren't as expensive (and I got them on sale) as good, supportive tennis shoes usually are, but for the price and the looks I'm going to keep them and have faith they will be fabulous on the trails in Sedona.
I'd also recommend:
Only New Balance for tennis shoes with a wide foot and Cobb Hill for boots.

I ordered a size 7 regular width. This shoe is at least a half size smaller than another pair of New Balance fresh foam shoes that I have in the same size. This shoe is also really narrow compared to the other shoe. I don't have wide feet either. In fact my feet are pretty narrow. I'm going to send this shoe back and I have already ordered and received a size 7 wide and they fit much better. Because there is no tongue in this shoe style it is harder to get on without a shoe horn. The wider width also makes it much easier to get on my foot as well as add an insert that I wear from time to time.

I wanted to love these shoes. They look good, both on the site and on my foot (in an 11W that's not a given). And they are comfortable. But I had one problem. I have wide forefeet. By the time I got my right foot into the shoe (it does take a bit of work) my sock was displaced and it was binding on my toes. I removed and replaced the shoe several times with the same result. My right foot is wider due to a bunion. The left shoe went on fine, a bit of work to do it but the sock stayed in place. I may try a few more times, but if I can't solve this problem the shoes will be going back.

Love them. Ordered a 9 the first time and it was ever so slightly too short--just enough that it bugged the tips of my toes. Went up to a 9.5 and they're perfect. Good support, great look and feel sturdy--like they won't wear out super fast. All in all, could not be more pleased.

I purchased these shoes for a waterfall hike in Puerto Rico and ultimately they did the job. The higher back and the way the shoe tongue is all one piece prevented debris from getting into my shoes. The soles provided good traction on dirt, mud, and dry rocks (and I was having to use a rope to pull myself up the rock, so a pretty steep incline). The one place I felt unsure was on the wet rock, but as long as I stepped flat, the soles provided good traction again.
The one drawback for me is the shoe was not comfortable, arch-wise, without adding insoles, but I have very high arches. Other than that, these are a good trail/paved walking shoe and I can walk 5-6 miles at a time without my feet getting sore or exhausted.

If only they were wider! These came so close to being the perfect hikers. Really good amount of cushion, super comfy upper, and high enough on ankle that you can lace them tight for downhill and your toes won't slam into the end of the shoe. Traction looks great. But I ordered them in wide and they are still a bit narrow because the toe isn't rounded enough. I'm sad. If they come out with a truly wide shoe I will be buying it!

This is a NICE looking shoe. It was very comfortable once I got it on. However, my feet are wide and have a high arch so it was difficult to put on with the smaller opening of the "built-in" sock. It would be fine if my feet weren't so big.
