Note: Ankle is high -- I love Josef Seibel's shoes, but this one was a replacement for a few pairs I've traveled the world with... the issue is the bad ankle area is too high. I started getting a blister on one foot immediately just walking around in my kitchen. I *really* don't want to return them but they just aren't what 3 years ago shoes were made like. They did not have a high ankle area at all... it was all a neutral height. PLEASE please Josef... go back to what was working. (Red are the new version)

These were not comfortable for my feet with high arch, narrow heels and with need for room for toes.

I wore these, straight out of the box without any break-in period, for our trip to Europe. I brought two pair of shoes, but the other pair proved unusable for any kind of sightseeing, so these were worn for about 18 days straight. We did typical sightseeing in the cities (walking 15k+ steps per day) as well as some traipsing around in forests and bogs. I had no issues with them; no blisters or sore feet in any way. These look more stylish than typical sneakers (but are just as comfortable, if not more) so I felt put together. I wore them with jeans, a maxi dress and capris. After we got home, I washed the laces, used a magic eraser on the rubber, polished the leather and they look great still. I almost always wear a size 10. I ordered a size 41.

These shoes were really cute. I ordered the yellow in size 38. I'm a US size 7, normal width and found these shoes too long and a little too wide. I would have to order the 37. I decided against the re-order as I bought these shoes based on their reputation for being a great walking shoe and having arch support. I wanted a stylish walking shoe for an upcoming vacation. In the end, I didn't think they were comfortable enough to log in many miles and had very little to no arch support. I did try a shoe insert/orthotic with them, but this actually only highlighted how little cushion the shoe has. So, to sum up, if you are looking for a cute, stylish, tennis shoe alternative for just everyday, casual use, these would be ok. If you want a tennis shoe to log miles in, look elsewhere.

Soft leather, so well-cushioned you could almost go jogging in them, and the camel color is fun. Sizing doesn't work for me. I tried the 40 and the 41. The 40 feels slightly too short, and by now I've learned my lesson about buying shoes that feel slightly too short --- they end up donated after one wear. On the other hand, the 41 is a little big. I compared the length to a couple pairs of size 10 running shoes and the sole is about the same length if not a hair longer. They are definitely longer than all my street shoes, including a pair of size 41 Eccos. This means they make my feet look bigger than I want them to look in non-athletic shoes. They are a little too wide --- the leather starts to wrinkle if I lace them on as tightly as I need to. The heel is not 100% secure, though it would probably work, which makes me think this shoe would actually do well on a lot of different foot types. I just wish they came in 40.5.

These shoes have wonderful support for walking. The arch support could be better; however since the insole can be removed I was able to put my own orthotic in. Perfect. The leather is soft, and the camel is beautiful. I wear 9-9 1/2 sneaker in Brooks, and the 9- 9 1/2 fir perfectly. Thanks Zappos!

So cute, and they were initially comfortable. However, I have never had a casual shoe cause blisters so quickly. I wear good socks and never have blisters in other daily shoes, buy my heels were bleeding by the end of the day.

I am very happy with the fit of Caren 01. The toe box does not pinch, as is the case with some other shoes of this style that I have tried. The leather is soft and has a sheen to it. I have a fairly narrow foot, so I like a lace up that I can tighten to fit perfectly and this shoe does the trick.

I have skinny, shallow and very hard to fit feet. These shoes are a dream and will be wonderful traipsing all over Europe in. I love it that not only are they comfortable but stylish too!

I have the most difficult feet to fit. After many years searching and buying tons of non comfortable walking shoes I found the Joseph Seibel’s Caren. It wasn’t a casual “ athletic” type shoe but a classy leather lace up. It holds my narrow heel in place without slipping out and it’s roomy in toe box for my wide flaring baby toe. I bought my second pair from Zappos and now I have red and platin colors. I am very pleased! I purchase a size 38. I have room for socks. It’s comfortable without added arch support.

I guess the third time is the charm. Based on trying the Platin color (which I did not like) in 40 and 41, I ordered the Grigio in 41 when it became available. It was about half a size too long, so I ordered the 40 and it just arrived. I am still in trial mode, but I think these will be keepers. The Grigio is a greyish brown. It looks more brown than grey, but the effect is different depending upon what you wear them with. This means they are a good darkish neutral for me.

I got it right, hopefully on second try. First ordered this in camel to be conservative, yet, it was kind of boring. I do not like to purchase made in China as these are, yet sometimes make exceptions. This shoe is supportive and seems well made and with Zappos return policies a safe bet if not OK, i.e. not holding up. I reordered in yellow, and it's fun. I take a 9, 9 fits well. It has good heel support which is important for someone who walks a ton daily, plus it's cute as just stated. Now we'll see how it does. :) I do have a narrowish foot and it can be adjusted just fine.

Poor quality materials. Heel tore with less than a month of wear. I will return for different shoe.

I ordered many many shoes to figure out what I wanted to take as my primary walking shoe for our trip to Europe. We were there almost 3 weeks. I ended up choosing these and wore them most of the time on the trip. I didn't think to "break them in" beforehand; thankfully that didn't matter. We walked a ton. Never once did my feet hurt with these shoes. On the occasions that I wore the other shoes I brought, my feet were not happy. I don't wear these shoes as frequently as I did on that trip, but when I put them on, I'm reminded once again of how comfortable they are.

These shoes are surprisingly comfortable for my arthritic toes. I normally wear an 8/8.5 in US sizing. The color I wanted was out in size 39, so I took a chance and ordered the 38's and they fit great! The heal is loose like I've read in other reviews but it doesn't bother me.

I cannot say enough about how much I like this shoe. I’m back on Zappos buying more in new colors partly because I want more and partly because my seventeen year old daughter seems to have stolen them from me! I can wear and walk in these shoes all day and they look so much better than my running shoes which is really the only other shoe I can wear like that! I wear 9.5-10 in a dress shoe and 10.5 in a running shoe and bought the 41. I can fit in the 40s but they’re not as comfortable to wear all day. The 41s do not feel too big.

I ordered this shoe in my size. It was marked my size, but in fact it was a full size larger. A good inch longer and 1/2 inch wider. I called Zappos and returned it. They suggested ordering it again so I did. Same thing. A full size larger. (It looked huge). What a pain.

I've worn Josef Seibel shoes for years. I love them because they are comfortable right out of the box. After one day of wearing they mold to your feet and are even better. This pair saved my vacation to Disneyland. My feet seeme to have grown as I age and I discovered that the pair I was going to bring was suddenly a little too short and my toe rubbed. I quickly ordered the Caren 01 in the next size and they fit perfectly. I wore them all four days in Disneyland. On one day we walked 22,000 steps and my feet were fine. I can't recommend them enough!

Love these shoes. They are my second pair so I knew what size to order. I bought a size 38 and I wear a size 8 in US shoe size.

I love how true red they are. They look a bit long on my foot, but I can live with it. I get lots of compliments on them.

Going down a half size. I was swimming in these, I have a pair from last year and it is a 40. Ordering 39 instead. That being said these are my go to shoes. So comfortable, right out of the box.

I had a pair of these before. Bought at Nordstroms a few years ago. These did not have the same fit. And quality was not there either.

I ordered these shoes in a European 39. I normally wear that size in a wide variety of brands. It was marked EU 39, but it was a full size larger and a good inch longer. I returned them. Too bad, because the leather was gorgeous (Camel).

Super comfortable, true to size, and there’s no break-in period. Wore for a full day upon receipt. Love the color and this particular brand makes a great walking shoe.

These are my most comfortable footwear. Hadn't reviewed earlier, but doing it now. The toe box is roomy without appearing to be so. Cannot think of a single negative, and since they're over a year old, I should probably order more to store in case they stop making them.
