I've had this backpack for about a month and used it for edc and I love it. There's nothing I would change about it!

Bought this for work and as a dad bag. I've wanted one for years and it does not disappoint. Very comfortable to wear, looks great, easy to use. Fits laptop, tablet, notebook, water bottle, snacks, and workout clothes for work. In dad bag mode I pull out that stuff and drop in kids' water bottles and a pouch with diapers and wipes. Yesterday it also held two beach towels.
The sternum strap is easily removable; I just keep it in the bag if I need it for a hike or something. I changed the lid compartment zipper pull to a bright yellow cord to distinguish it from the others.
The color is not quite as brown as pictured, more greenish. Looks great, though my bag is supposed to be brown for work.

I use this backpack for work because it looks incredibly clean and professional. As well as, 2 day trips I can fit everything I need in it. I like the elevated spot for my computer as well as the inside pockets. I was concerned at first for no outside pockets but this design actually works better.

Two weeks in and I'm very satisfied with the pack. Carries my 15" MBP and 12.9" iPad with ease, so much so that sometimes I forget they're in the bag. The suspension system seems to be able to handle anything and the back pad keeps me cool, which is hard to do in the South Florida heat. Water bottles store best on the inside sleeves, leaving the outside sleeves for sunglasses and other gear. The top load and top compartment work extremely well and I can yank all day on the zippers without worrying about fouling them up. Slides under any airline seat, including in small commuter planes. Hard to find a fault with the Urban Assault 21.

I bought this backpack a month ago to replace another brand that didn't have as much room.
I'm able to comfortably fit a 15" laptop, the wires, 320z nalgene, a couple books, and some miscellaneous stuff all with ease.

Definitely one of the more unique looking packs out there and is right up there with other high-end bags I've had.
The pack is extremely comfortable to wear. It rides high but this is a definite advantage. I appreciate that the sternum strap is included as in other companies, they often sell it as an accessory.
The only real snag with the pack is that I DO use the inside mesh pockets on either side, and if the items are too heavy, it sort of makes the pack sag in the middle as it is tall and skinny in profile. If those mesh bags are loaded, it makes the rest of the pack sort of buckle in the middle despite the frame sheet helping it keep its form.
The bag is nearly perfect though for a tough pack used for work, EDC, travel or a pleasant combination of all three.
The only changes I made to the pack was using the excellent strap keepers made my Mystery Ranch to keep all the straps nice and tidy, I added a glow pull to the central zipper, and put a paracord wrap on the top handle.
I really would urge MR to make a camo version of the 21L for the 18L urban assault. I would snap that up too!

Super high quality bag, top pocket is my favorite part for sure. The Tri-Zip feature is super useful so you can get into it without having to open a whole clam shell and everything falls out. I do wish it had a little bit more organization underneath the side mesh pockets inside the bag or the mesh pockets were a bit deeper but it isn't a huge deal.

I have owned 5 different mystery ranch bags and i still think the urban assault is my favorite. I have the asap the front and 2 day assault.
I personaly like the simplicity of the bag since you can customize it if you feel like it, but you can also keep it simple for urban low key edc uses, i personaly think the trizip design is perfect for people who need quick acces to their stuff such as medical kits and essential items in the bag wich is also why i love it because you can get to all your items at all times.
Now for the cons.
I dont really like the mesh they use since it will most likely not last as long as the other materials in the bag, and it honestly feels a bit flimsy, but that might be a thing of different taste.
The zippers can be really hard to use sometimes wich can be an issue if your in an situation where your gear cant fail, but after use for a couple weeks or months the zippers work really well
And for the pros
The cordura they use feels extremely solid, and is the best iv'e seen on any packs
The zippers are tough, and will deffinetly last
The design is clean, and the back looks cool at all times
It is extremely comfordable, and carries weight like a champ
It has some really cool colorways
All in all i feel like they could deffinetly change some things, but its still a solid pack:)

I can't say enough about the quality of the materials, hardware and overall design. The pack holds a significant amount of gear and affords me an opportunity to carry sensitive electronics without screaming "TACTICAL" at on lookers. The stitching is bomber and the 3-way zip pull allows for easy access.

I purchased this pack as a "go-to-work" pack as I sometimes carry my iPad along with other small essentials here in SE Alaska. I liked the look of the waxed canvas and the color too boot. The accessibility has to be my most favorite part of the pack though because of the central zip. I didn't think that I would like that but after watching the MR video I was willing to try it out. The 2 fairly large inner mesh pockets making segregation of essentials easy with the pockets sitting high enough to access without unzipping the middle. The top lid pocket is more than enough for things that might need to be accessed sooner than later. There is a key clip in there as well. The harness is of top quality and may even be a little overbuilt for this size of a pack, but I am not complaining. Great product from a great company.

I bought this pack a few months ago in the Eggplant (I'm a sucker for purple). After years of searching for an EDC bag to haul around my Type 1 Diabetes gear, I have finally found it. This pack is well thought out. From the interior zipper pockets, and lid stash pocket, to the 3 way zipper. The 3 way zipper is an absolute game changer for me in carrying my every day medical supplies. I no longer have to open and empty my entire bag to get to my glucose meter or a bottle of juice. Well done, Mystery Ranch. Thank you for a great product. Looks like my paychecks are going to become a little slimmer while I change all my gear over to your brand! Women's Scree 32 is next! And my husband doesn't know it yet, but he is switching packs too!

I recently purchased this pack and the first thing I did was open it up and fill it up with my everyday carry gear. It fit well without being jammed in there. One thing I noticed right away was the zipper stuck repeatedly in the same spot where the Y comes together. When I felt inside it seemed like the zipper pull was getting caught on extra material at the Y junction. After repeated opening and closing it did not improve. Bummer but not a deal breaker either.

Had this bag a few weeks now. Over all its a very well made bag. Tin cloth is nice. Wish the outside had a few more mollie attachments. A pocket would be good but that's all on me for overlooking those things. Makes a great go bag for the truck and fits my CZ Scorpion with mags nicely.

I have an issue. I believe it's specific to the Wildfire variant. Because the zipper guards are different than on other variants (they are glossy). They are peeling off after 2/3 of a year usage (see photos). And it is still continuing on.
I'm considering to buy the plain black one. It's a shame that the zippers on Wildfire are a they are, I like this colorway better.
Otherwise it's one of the best EDC out there. And I'm a backpack junkie.

I love the look and how it sits on my back. The large middle zipper is great for accessing the bag like a duffle. What made me pass was the straps. They are too short for someone with a large chest. I'm a male weightlifter, I don't have an Arnold size chest, but these straps stop at mid pec. The adjustment piece digs into my skin and it's very uncomfortable when the pack has a load. MR, please add two more inches to the stap!
