I just received these boots. They are absolutely gorgeous! The leather is very soft and supple. I purchased the "bitter chocolate" . I normally wear size 8 1/2, but I could have probably gotten away with size 8. I will keep the 8 1/2 and add an "inner sole" to fill in the extra space. I would recommend this boot to anyone looking for a nice boot that can be dressed up or down. They don't look like the "typical" riding boot. They have an "upgraded" look. I am looking forward to wearing them.

The boots are beautiful. The leather is gorgeous. The tops of the boots stick out slightly on the sides and I was looking for a sleek and more fitted look. Sadly I will return.

I really hate to give these gorgeous boots only two stars, but since they came up in a wide calf search, I have to ding them for not living up to that billing. My calves are not gargantuan, about 14 1/2 inches, and I could not even get these boots on. They are beautiful; very thick, stiff, high-quality leather that would take some breaking in, but the boots would obviously last a lifetime. I'm surprised at the review that said they were huge in the calf (though it had been very encouraging to me before I ordered); that woman must have awfully thin legs!

I was looking for a well made boot with a low heel that I could wear all day. These have worked out great. An added plus is that the boot fits nicely around my calf- not too wide and lose like most that I have tried in the past.

Love them. The boot shaft is high which i wanted. True to size. A little hard to get off but worth it.

These are beautiful boots, great quality and styling. I wish they were a true 17" shaft, it's actually 16.5". Unfortunately for me, they fit a little tight through the ankle and are really hard to get off. I think if the inside zipper were an inch or two longer that would help. So I'm returning (thank you Zappos policy!) but I really love the look of them!

I do not have wide calves or foot and I had a very hard time getting them on. I was able to zip them up, but they would not pull up enough so it was all scrunched and stuff around the ankles. This made them very uncomfortable so I had to return them. They are very nice looking. I think if it was full zipper, they would have worked out better. They fit fine on my feet.

Calf was way too small. These boots were really pretty and actually looked like they were quality leather. The sizing was fine for the actually boot but the shaft was way too small for my calves. Probably needed another inch and a half and I don’t typically need wide calf boots. Such a disappointment.

I did not like these boots. They are gorgeous, but the zipper is only at the ankle and they were a bear to get on my feet. The shafts have no give and they are quite snug. Not the fit I like in a boot. I returned them.

The boot is beautiful and classy in style. My foot is usually a true 8 medium. The toe is a bit short and tight and while the calf is wide, the ankle is not, so I can't wear a thick sock with the boot. I will just manage with stockings. The inner sole is adequate, but not for high arches like mine. I think a larger size would accommodate socks and orthotic innersoles, but I'm sticking with my 8!

Love. This. Boot. I ordered a 10.5, even though I am an 11 sometimes, and they fit wonderfully. They are perfectly snug and the color is a nice blend.

I love these! They are so stylish and go with many different outfits. I have very muscular calves and it's hard for me to find boots that aren't too tight around my calves and these are perfect with leggings and jeans both. This is my first pair of Cole Haan boots; I tried Frye because those are my favorite. But the dressier black Frye boots were not wide enough around my calves. I love these! (Oops. I said that already!)

I loved these boots! I lamented over returning them for quite awhile - but ultimately my legs just were not long enough to pull off these boots. Short girl problems.

When I first put them on, they were snug, but the leather quickly (within hours) conformed to my foot.

I don’t have big calves and so they were a little wife but with jeans tucked in they looked good.

These size 9 boots are perfect in every way for me.

These boots fit perfectly! I was looking for a pair of boots with little to no heel, that were also not flashy. These boots were that and more!

I liked that the calf on these boots is not very wide. I have thin legs so most boots are too wide at the top for me. I was surprised how narrow these boots are. I usually wear a size 8 and these boots were narrow and small. I will need to order a size 9, I believe. The leather is nice. The actual foot bed seems average. I didn't notice any extra padding so I doubt that they will be very comfortable on long days on my feet.

I was on the fence in reference to sizing, as most of my Cole Haan's are high heel pointy shoes, so I went with an 8.5, which turned out to be too large. When I received the 8 the fit was fine. These are a nice riding boot, but overall, I'm a bit disappointed with the quality of the leather in this boot. It is very stiff around the ankle and feels like it is less expense pair of boots. I returned in lieu of a pair of Born riding boots, same price, and nicer leather.

I wanted to keep these boots - the warm, rich color, the nice leather, the clean elegant look... but the non-starter for me after trying them on, wearing around the house then removing them: the pull-on with half-zip closure. For me, it was difficult to get them half zip closed with skinny jeans and difficult to remove the boot. They are equally difficult to removing my Kamik rainboots (which I love, but need assistance pulling off on occasion). If you prefer the ease of a full zip this is not the style for you. If the challenge or putting on and pulling off does not phase you, excellent, buy this style!

disappointed that these gapped at the top. sadly they will be returned

A solid pair of boots. Not overly stylish but still fit the bill.
