Actaully, the 379 'with the heel-loop' measured only a millimeter or two longer then the one without the loop. Felt mostly the same though. Probably just a minor manufacturing erk. My bad on prior review.

Here is a pic of two New Balance 379s in a size 14, next to the same sized Emerica Low-vulc (Reynolds) and the New Balance 255, all aligned exactly on the tape. It seems that the black 379 and the white 379 that both just arrived today, are actually a little different. The black one has a small loop on the heel (reflecting light from the camera flash) and has the word 'NBNumeric' written on the side. The white one does not have those things. (look at the webpage) MORE IMPORTANTLY, the black 379 is just a hair longer then the white one. I believe the 379s with the loop on the back, and the writing on the side, are the newer ones, and were updated from the first run, but I'm just guessing. I also want people to know that the 379s are a tad wider then the 255s. I can actually spread my toes a little, compared to them. So the 379s without the loop on the back, fit almost the same as the 255s length wise. With the loop, they are a hair longer. (unless for some reason I received a defective sized pair, but I doubt it.) - Side note: I ordered the New Balance 232 'All Coasts' (same 379 sole) in the same size a while back, and they were way too big all around, bigger then the Emerica Low-vulcs. (fyi, I bought all of these 14s in the pic, because my foot size is actually a 13.5 wide which nobody makes.) Nike is the only brand I have left to experiment with, but for now, I'm keeping the 379s with the loop, and the Reynolds Low vulc.

I little snug, really strong material, super cool looking. Great for skateboarding.

These shoes are comfortable. I take the insoles out and put my orthotics in them to skate(old guy skate problems),but the insoles they come with look well padded. I would definitely recommend them.

fits my wide foot after sizing up. replaced sporty insole with two flat insoles to add more cushion for front of foot. / fit is similar to the 306s, but without the layers

These are nice. The insole is kind of flat without arch support. I put in my own insoles and they are much better.

The shoe looks great and feels pretty great. The only downside is that the shoe is falling apart a bit on the sides. There's a wraparound piece along the toe of the shoe that runs til about mid-arch on either side. This piece is clearly separating from the rest of the shoe, which is a bummer. I only bought these shoes 6 months ago, and they're already falling apart. I don't wear them any more than the average person, and I've tried gluing the piece back on the shoe to no avail. I'd love if I could get a discount for the failure of the shoe quality.

They run small and are uncomfortable. I can’t even wear them. I’m truly disappointed with the fit more than anything.
