Fit well. Have moderate support; less than most hiking or trail shoes I’ve worn; more like a sneaker which I find makes them more suited to wearing day to day than other trail shoes. Seem to perform well enough on the trail, though, meaning they work well as a all around or travel shoe. I wouldn’t do any through hiking or serious technical stuff in theses but for day adventures on the trail or around town they work well. They also look more like a regular city shoe so I can bring them as my one travel shoe and not worry about looking like I’m wearing hiking shoes when I hit the town at night. Not perfect in any one category but a good compromise for an all round shoe.

My husband has been searching for 6 years for new semi sporty semi casual shoes for every day wear. Has bought and rejected multiple pairs. Then I found these for him and total heaven. He adds inserts as he has food problems and needs inserts but says they are like “walking on clouds” and he is super lucky yet adores the look and feel of these shoes. Major win.

Very comfortable. I have foot pain because of neuropathy but these do not aggravate my pain. I ordered another pair in a different color.

I was looking for a pair of fashionable casual sneakers suitable for travel, city walking, and light outdoor adventures/hikes. After many disappointing years with sneakers of this type from Northface (Back-To-Berkeley Low) and Timberland, I decided to give these Merrell's a try. Though they look pretty good and the build quality is great (much better than Northface and Timberland), they're a bit bulky and heavy considering the entire upper is one big piece of surprisingly thick leather (giving the shoe somewhat of an orthotic sneaker/clog vibe, as my wife put it). Because of this bulky thick leather upper these shoes are also very stiff out of the box, forcing my heel up and out of the shoe as I walked. Furthermore, I can only imagine even a light hike on a hot day in these would create some issues with foot sweat and blisters, considering there's really no ventilation. I'm sure the leather would also scuff up really bad, negating the shoes' snappy looks pretty quickly. So, I'd consider this more of a city shoe. I swapped these out for a pair of Merrell Burnt Rock Travel Suede's, which are lighter, more flexible, better ventilated, and much more comfortable out of the box - just about perfect for what I'm looking for, without sacrificing too much style.

I bought the shoes to wear primarily for walking on a treadmill. The fit was perfect and the shoes required absolutely no brake-in. The shoes are stylish enough to use as casual wear when traditional sneakers aren't suitable.

I love the shoe. The quality of the leather and the finish. I had to return it because it was 1/2 size to big. I will order a 1/2 size smaller as soon as the money is returned!

Way too narrow in the front. This seems to be a recent trend across all brands. The midfoot to the rear foot felt great but the instep through the toe box tends to squeeze the heck out of my toes and I have to return them. From Merrell, I still buy the Trail glove about every other season and I keep two pair on deck at all times; one for outdoor workouts & martial arts practice, and one for my commute to work...by bicycle! I don't consider myself a runner at all but I do run laps and sprints to keep in condition for judo. I love the brand so if anyone from Merrell is listening, I would like to stay loyal for most of my footwear needs, even casual/business casual. The trail gloves are still my favorites, especially Trail Glove 4. It doesn't have that wide, "duck foot" profile, it still looks narrow, but I can flex and wiggle my toes around inside. The trail glove is absolutely my favorite shoe but you can't wear them to a trendy NoMad wine bar or a casual company event with a tie and a sport coat. I'm on the east coast but they're even tough to wear in the winter for a quick walk to the supermarket. I'd like to see more fashionable shoes cut a bit wider as a regular practice. I wanted to love these because the materials and styling are top quality and everything from my arches to my heel felt great but the fronts, of not only this but most makers' fashionable shoes, have this (I think, market-created) adherence to a very narrow aesthetic down near the toes. I can't be the only 6'3" person, or person of any size, whose feet aren't skinny and spindly. Come on, guys! Let's be fair to all the consumers out there!

The leather model doesn’t fit like the suede version of this shoe. The toe box is too narrow.
