I purchased my pair of Phaserbound 2 Tall boots in August 2020 primarily for hiking and hunting. I have completed an intense elk hunt in Colorado, as well as general upland hunting and hiking since then and now into June 2021. The boot for me is very comfortable and stability is good. While this boot is "tall", the top eyelet sits a bit low so lateral ankle support is not great, especially on slopes. My pair has little to no water protection and certainly are not "waterproof" at all. If I walk in wet grass for more than a few minutes my feet get wet. They are quite noisy, making squeaks and groans like an old rocking chair. I contacted support and the advice I received was to put powder between the removable instep and the boot sole. This does nothing as the noise comes from within the heel of the boot, not under the removable insert. it seems like something is coming apart in there.

After wearing these boots for one summer hiking and light yard work the toe and soles became in glued and had to be repaired. They didn't last very long... my advice would be not to buy boots with glued toes go with a pair of boots that has the sole stitched on..

I got these boots for hiking at work (I work in the woods) and hunting. unfortunately they have some major flaws.
One is that they are not waterproof. After about 4 hours of hiking through a 1/4 in of snow and some ankle high shrubs with ice on them they were soaked through. They also take a very long time to dry because of the high amount of fabric inside the boot.
Two I can't get my heel to lock down. This led to pretty bad blisters on both heels. I think this is because they don't have a locking eyelet, instead the boots have a ring on webbing and if I cinch the top laces down the laces below keep tightening.
Three the boots have almost no forefoot cushioning and they bend in a strange spot. The sole is stiffer than typical Merrells, which is fine, but after hiking about 10 miles off trail the balls of my feet were numb and I almost had a blister on the ball of my left foot. I have owned a lot of boots and have never gotten a blister there before.
The construction does seems sturdier than other Merrells but these have major comfort and usability issues.

Bought these in Dec 2019, one heel sole is completely off and other one is starting. Just my estimation, but there does not seem to be enough glue on the soles

The phase bound 2 angle cut for ankle support sucks. It's to loose and hard to keep laces tight. They should have kept it z straight cut like the originals phasbound was. It took me a long time to find a great boot and it's not it was 4 years ago when I purchased my first phase bound original.

I have been wearing Merrell's for nearly 20 years and was always happy with the fit and performance. I have owned over a dozen pair but lately the quality has dropped dramatically. The last two pairs that I have had have fallen apart. Side stitching split within 6 months and sole separated in less than a year. I thought the first pair might have been a fluke, but same thing happened on next pair. Sad to say that I will not be trying another.

Split at the seams just after warranty period. Not waterproof, even before split.

These boots are overpriced for the quality and longevity of the product. My husband has been wearing these around home for three months and the seam on the right foot has split. Outside of a 60 day warranty but not by a whole lot. Disappointing!

I bought these waterproof boots and found the first time I used them my feet were wet in one hour. I was walking after a rain storm. One month later the stitching was failing. Don't waste your money. Worst boots I have ever worn.

Day one and two of hiking was dry. The boot felt very comfortable. Day three was very foggy with a light drizzle so the grass was wet. The boot got soaked. Didn't even have a chance to step in a puddle to test what M-Dry is all about; I found out the hard way in the middle of the hike.
Sadly on hikes number 4 and 5 is when I found out that the boot is not designed for the actual reason I bought it for: climb Mt Kenya to 16000 ft. Upon descent my big and little toes on both feet have suffered extreme damage (I will refrain describing the pain) to the point that I fear wearing this pair of boots again.
What started as very high hopes is ending today with a pair of boots that are retired after 5 hikes. I don't think I have much to be thankful for, thus risking to being unfair to many other good qualities of the boot.

Owned 2 separate pairs of these. Both pairs started falling apart after very minimal wear. Because of this boot I would defer from buying Merrill products as they clearly don't test their products the way they say they do. I'd give it a 0/5 if I could. Don't buy.

Worst pair of Merrels I have ever bought. Sloppy fit in heal and damp grass resulted in wet feet. Pretty disappointed.
