Within the last year I've been getting into the barefoot/zero-drop shoe game and was super excited when I saw these beauties. I've been lifting in converse/vans for the last few years and decided it was time to buy some big girl lifting shoes that were versatile. Magically, these showed up on my Instagram feed and I bought them that day. Being skeptical since there were very limited reviews about these shoes (and none on Altra or Zappos) I wasn't sure if I would like them. However, they are proving to be a great shoe! They are a perfect combination of "barefoot" and still cushioned for hard gym floors. They provide an immense feeling of support and stability in many leg based movements, especially single-leg movements. I have very high arches and these provide just enough support and comfort. I usually wear a 10 in pretty much all shoes (my right foot is more of a 9.5) and a 10 in these are perfect. The open toe box is wonderful and really lets me grip the ground for even more stability. They feel like a nicely made and sturdy shoe and I really look forward to wearing them 4-5 times a week. They add a little more excitement to my workouts and I highly recommend them to someone that wants the zero-drop base as well as a more lifting shoe type feel.

These Altras are AMAZING! I have bunions and finding a comfortable performance shoe has been a challenge. For hiking, my 'go to's' have been pairs of Solomons and Ahnus. For the gym, I have used used Supernova Glides for years. I have had to use a shoe stretcher to widen the toe boxes to break them in. Last week a friend recommended Lone Peak by Altras. Wore them out of the box for a 4 mile hike. SOOOO comfortable and good grip. I decided to give the HIIT XT 2 a try to replace my supernova's for the gym. Also, stupendous right out of the box. Zero drop took no getting used to. Altras -- my new 'go-to' brand::))))

These shoes are great. It is my 1st pair of zero drop shoes and would recommend you give them a try. I have some toe issues and the larger toe box makes the shoes so comfortable. I did break them in at home to adjust and did have slight calf tenderness. Love the green color and the shoes give good support for Zumba.

These shoes felt great when I put them on. They have a unique insole that made my whole foot feel supported. I wore them to teach kickboxing and RIPPED (a cross-training, full-body workout). In the first class, they felt pretty good, but I could tell I’d need to get used to them. By the end of the second class, I was disappointed. They didn’t hold up to my workout - lateral movement, high impact moves, burpees, etc. They would be great for weightlifting and low impact workouts, but that’s just not me. I sent them back. THANKS FOR BEING AWESOME, ZAPPOS!!!

So ,so happy to have found this style. I have a wider toe box( 7 1/2 M) and I just can’t wear brands from my past. These shoes were comfortable from the beginning. My feet are happy again. Have ordered a 2nd pair!

Just the style I’ve been looking for. I need a somewhat wider toe box. Personally the fit, padding, inserts will most definitely make for a better workout! Will definitely order more of this style.

Love these. My toes had been falling asleep when I was working out... first workout with these and they were perfect!

Good padding and support, but felt too heavy and stiff for me as a beginner in XFit. I have flat, wide, pronating feet. Too heavy so I sent them back.

I have 2 other pairs of Altra's - one for pavement and one for trails. I like them because the wide forefoot accommodates my bunions and I like the zero-drop. I needed to replace my gym workout shoes and turned to these Altra's. Unfortunately they do not accommodate my bunions like my other two pairs. They are just a tad too narrow. I like the support and soles, but alas, returned them due to the narrower forefoot

I deal with nerve pain in my foot and have a hard time keeping any kind of shoe on. My doctor recommended these. The toe box is not as tight as other sneakers and I am able to wear these much longer than other sneakers. I am very happy with my purchase!

I first ordered a size 8, thought they were too small. Ordered size 8.5, too big. I realized I had to open the laces up the entire way, then help my heel in. I guess I expected them to fit another pair of Altra I have, which are all fabric. The HII XT 2 have a lot more rubber, and it's going to take a while to break them in. I'm not into any activity, just an older lady with back problems and bad feet. The blue/raspberry also has teal parts, which are colors I wear a lot. To me, they don't look like sneakers at all, just a colorful cute pair of shoes.

I have the size 7 -- my typical size in athletic shoes. Length is good. Toebox width is generous yet narrower than other Altra shoes... this is desirable because it offers lateral support for studio and HIIT classes... an overly spacious toebox would've been sloppy for those classes (and might lead to injury). The shoe does slide a bit on artificial turf, so just be aware of that if you workout on turf.

I have very sensitive feet, with no "padding" on the tops. I am also developing bunions and crossed toes. The delights of aging. The Altras are the most comfortable shoe I have had in years straight out of the box. The width and depth of the toe box, neutral height and arch support are almost perfect. The tongue is sewn down-that makes a huge difference for me as any slight shift in the tongue of a shoe can literally cause a sore spot to develop for me. Are they "cute"? Not really, the color I got is fun, but they remind me of Birkies or the old fashioned Earth shoes. Comfort is more important to me. My husband's crossed toes and hammer toes are pretty bad, and he is sold on Altras now too. Someone was paying attention.

I have some Altra Lone Peaks that I absolutely love. Oddly, this shoe is noticeably narrower in the toe, and actually rubs my little toes. It also has very little cushioning. Most disappointing.

My son has a pair of these shoes and they work really well for his slightly narrow foot. I have been told by my physical therapist that more cushion in my footbed might be better for my feet (I only wear barefoot shoes, and they often have little padding, if any). However, these were far too narrow for my wide feet. I'll have to check out the versions for men, but if their website is any indication, the arch and the heel won't fit quite right. I wish that instead of offering so many different styles of shoes, that Altra would offer some of their styles in a wide (and narrow) foot. These shoes won't fit either type of foot very well, only those with "normal" foot widths.

Was pretty narrow for me, but maybe I have giant feet. I absolutely love the Altra Lone Peaks and wanted something comparable. My arch really fell over the arch support which hit me in the wrong spot, but I'm a little flat footed. Length was spot on though I'd say.

I had trouble with socks slipping at the heal. I ended up having to wear thicker socks with a thicker band around the ankle. Once I got the socks situated I really liked the shoe but then they started falling apart. The seams are coming apart along the soles and inside toe area. I have had them almost three months and wear them for my 30 minute HIIT class 6 days a week. I don’t run in them or wear them for any other workouts. I will not be purchasing them again.

After seeing doctor about knee pain he suggested I get better sneakers for my active cross-training regimen. These just didn't do it for me. As soon as I took them out of the box I knew they were too narrow, and I've never had to get shoes in a wide. The colors were fun but I wasn't crazy about the square toe shape. I sent them back and am going to try Reebok's Nano 9. I think I just need something more traditional from a brand I know.

The stability I feel when lifting in these shoes is fantastic! I have a wide foot, these shoes give my toes plenty of room to spread out. I have no problem running short distances in these. I love them. My favorite shoe off all time!

Love these sneakers - second pair! They have zero drop and allow for your toes to spread when you run.
