A few problems with this purchase. First, the size is too large. I had to send the first pair back and then order one size smaller than I typically order in men's pants. Second, the button at the front popped off the first time I wore the pants and it landed in the urinal. Needless to say, I didn't retrieve it, and am now headed to the sewing store to buy a new button. The pants are comfortable and stylist, but very stretchy. I put my phone in the side cargo pocket and it leaned out due to the stretchy fabric. Once I get the button fixed, I'll probably wear these pants occasionally, but they'll never be my favorites.

I have a old pair ( about four years old) and they are way better. New ones have too tight a fit around the leg /quads (even though its the exact same size), new ones are thinner material ie weaker, back pockets no longer have zippers, over all still a good pant but sad to see a great pair of pants get cheaper and less amazing...

I'm 6' tall and normally wear a 29x32 in all other pants. Since these are stretchy I went with size 28waist. Unfortunately, the inseam length is only 28"!!!! The sizes listed on the website are bogus. I got out a seamstress measuring tape to confirm. The inseam is exactly 28" for the 28" waist Ferrosi pants. Why are all their pants so stinking short?!? Apparently Outdoor Research is designing pants for the Asian market. I'm very disappointed since I have so much trouble finding hiking pants in my size and have once again been let down. Other than the length problem they're great.

I bought a pair of these pants in march of 2016 (I'm 5'7 and 195 lbs and got a size large that fit awesome) and was told by my friends that they were the best pants around for backpacking, climbing, etc. I work in a profession where I consistently am doing that type of stuff and am teaching troubled teens how to do it. I have got to say that they held up really well for the first 6 months and I had nothing but compliments to give these pants, however after not having them for even a year they're already causing me some trouble. I have worn the pants probably 45+ days and now the stiching is coming undone literally everywhere. The back pocket stitching is falling apart, the stiching in the crotch area is coming undone and I am pretty confident that within the next 5 or so times of wearing these pants they will no longer be functional. I love all my OR gear and expected these pants to do well, however in my eyes they fell short of my expectations in a big way.

I bought these in November (2014) and have worn them to work probably 2 dozen times. My first issue is the fit. I bought a size 32, but these are 3 inches too big, even out of the wash. EVERY pair of soft shell pants I currently own are a 32 and fit wonderfully, except these. As an instructor and outdoor educator, I need to have a professional look about me. I bought these specifically for work because they looked great, though now they look as though I have been cllimbing granite off/widths in them. The knee to thigh area on both legs have completely peeled. I am sceptical that they would withstand the torments of the alpine environments and technical pursuits that I live for.

After 5 wearings : Seam stiches started to fail in several places. Fabric pilling by pockets and front. Waistband does not hold shape too filmsy. Need better length options.

These pants are great material for hiking; however, the 32" are way too long, and the "30 are way too short! Overall, Outdoor Research needs to do a better job with small sizes, including creating a M's XS tops. Will consider other brands until they get better.

They totally changed the product, no longer cinch at bottom of legs, very disappointed. Bought from Backcountry but informed they did not know of the change at all, and calling OR direct, said, yep things have changed, and no responsibility what so ever.

Very snug in the thigh. The pocket was sewn over the leg seam and tightened the pant in that region on the right leg specifically.

After a day of wear, these pants lost all integrity and sagged so badly that I can't wear them. Do not buy these. I'm 5'7" and 160 lbs. They gained 2-3 inches in length and lost all shape to them.

In 2018 I ordered 3 pair of Mens Ferrosi pants and absolutely loved them. So much so that I wore them out and needed to order some new ones. I just received 3 new pair in the email and to my disappointment OR has changed the style. Different fit, no zippers on rear pockets, no cuff drawstring but they kept they same name. If it aint broke dont fix it. OR certainly failed with this new version of the Ferossi pant. Bring back the old style or else change the name on the new...lesser quality pant that doesnt deserve the Ferossi name. Im sure they have had a lot of returns for this very reason, mine will certainly be going back!

I wanted to love these. The material is top notch and the design was perfect. However while the waist fits as it should, the rest from there down feels tight...uncomfortably tight. Skinny fit is not my jam, and I had hoped that these were not so tight as to be painted on. I was wrong sadly. The search for a lightweight non convertible pant continues.

Whoa! OR REALLY messed up this time... The first generation of these pants were phenomenal. However, now the second generation of these pants are missing the crucial items from the first Gen that set these pants apart from their competitors. Cons: - The pants are missing the rear zip pockets, and due to the lightweight material of the pants, your wallet will fall out when you sit down!... Or jumping around outside... And don't even think about keeping it back there for when you're on a bike. - Missing the double stitching - Glue on pocket failed right away - No reinforced knees Did the material change too?! OR, for heavens sake, PLEASE go back to what use to make these pants great.

So disappointed in the Ferrosi pants and shorts. They are supposed to fit true to size but not even close. Measured flat, they are 17.25" across and a 34.5" waist. My waist is 32" and typically size 32 pants still fit large due to companies not going true to size. I typically have to size down one size to a 31. However, OR even confirmed by "Kassie" in the Discussions section of the Ferrosi 10" shorts: Q: My waist measures pretty much exactly 32". Should I order the size 31 or 32? I want these to fit well without a belt, and I find that most size 32 pants and shorts are more like 33" or greater. In Prana for example, size 31 fits my waist perfectly, and 32 is way too loose. So I'm leaning towards ordering the 31, but would appreciate some confirmation! Asked on 5/26/2019 by Dan from NY Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer CUSTOMER CARE A: our ferrosi shorts are true to list size and don't run large as most companies do, you should be good to go with the 32! Answered on 6/5/2019 by Kassie from Outdoor Research Not the case here! I can fit my fist between my stomach and the waist of the pants!

The new updates on this pant are a complete failure. The old ferrosi pants were perfect. I own 5 pairs and wear them daily. They were perfect for everything from work, casual, travel ,hiking, climbing, etc. They were outdoor pants that didn't look like outdoor pants and fit in everywhere. 1) The old pants had a perfectly sized side pocket with vertical zipper which was great for getting your phone in and out of while seated or at a belay station without having to dig into the pocket or worry about dropping your phone. The side pocket was even laminated so it didn't stand out like a "cargo pant." The new side pocket Is awful. It's too small for a phone, has a tiny top zipper, and a seam that sticks out. 2) The old pants also had small zippers on the rear pockets. Super nice for traveling and climbing when you don't want to loose anything. The new pockets don't have zippers. The old ferrosi pants were very popular and had great reviews and won awards. I would imagine that any good reviews on these new pants are only from people who've used the old version. I love OR, but this is a huge disappointment. DONT FIX WHAT ISNT BROKEN!

1 year out from buying these. I did not wear them many times. I wore them mostly last summer, and switched to warmer pants during fall through this spring. I only wore them on 1 climb this year before retiring them. They starting pilling only after a few washes. But that wasnt too big of a deal to me. The bigger deal is that they started to become rubbed and thinned after only a handful of climbs. At this point, they are barely wearable. They have tons of dirt stains that wont come out, many small holes, and large sections of the fabric is rubbed and damaged. I have never owned a pair of pants that are less durable.

Hey outdoor research. Not all your customers are millennial skinny jean wearers. These new pants are horrible. If you're over six feet tall don't buy them. The old ones that had more of a relaxed fit were so much better. Won't buy these or your shorty shorts anymore.
