I think OR could take down the patagonia torrentshell or snap-t pullover with a different version of this jacket. How about pullover and more styling with colors. Go two-tone or three-tone. Give the guys some purple! I would like a slimmer fit purple/grey pullover (no hood or hideaway)...just saying. Lightweight (slim fit/minimal zippers-1/4 zip to a kangaroo pocket and maybe pit zips with drawstring waist), water proof, stylish.

I carry this with me daily in SE Alaska. It is a great light-weight rain jacket. It is completely waterproof and tough enough for serious hiking. I am 5'7", 200 lb and I bought size L. The sleeves are long on me and it is a little tight at the shoulders. The length and fit in the mid section are just right. For a waterproof jacket that is light and comfortable enough to wear every day, the price cannot be beat.

Packed this in my day pack for a trip to El Salvador. When it rained (everyday) I kept dry with Jacket. I only wish the rest of my clothing was as waterproof. It kept phones and batteries dry in a torrential downpour one night. I was glad I decided to make the purchase!

I live on the Great Plains where severe thunderstorms can manifest unexpectedly and it's lightweight portability and waterproofing means that I can easily bring it along on trips and that it will keep me dry. Lots of features like pit-zips and cinches to keep me cool or to fit more snugly make it a flexible addition to my gear and even though it's not the lightest jacket out there, it can easily double as a windbreaker.

I bought this jacket to replace an old OR rain jacket and was worried that this new version wouldn't compare. I was wrong....have used it in several thunder storms already as well as to protect from strong winds and it worked great. Still love that it's fully packable into one of the pockets!

I love the color combination, looks great equally in town as on the trail. Well made, comfortable, weather tight, yet light and pack-able. I hope it gives me many years of service. Good value for the money.

This is a comfortable and well-featured rain jacket that can serve double duty as a winter shell. It is well featured with all of the capabilities that you'd expect in a technical shell, but at a fraction of the price because it uses OR's proprietary breathable layer and not more expensive Gore-tex. In my opinion Outdoor Research makes the best hiking rain gear in my experience and the Apollo Jacket is another great product!

This is a light weight rain and windproof jacket. The pockets are placed well and are actually useful, hood is nicely adjustable and fits well if you want to wear a fleece or something thicker underneath. Perfect for everyday use or summer hikes in the mountains if the weather is iffy.

This is my second Apollo, and recent design updates have improved an already great jacket. Most notably, the mesh-lined pockets. If you put your keys there from time to time, as I do, you'll appreciate their resistance to abrasion (breathability considerations notwithstanding). Raglan sleeves are a must-have, as far I'm concerned, as are the pit zips. The sleeves are just long enough to pull my hands into when the elements are harsh. I appreciate OR's choice to minimize fuss on hood construction and delegate some structure and coverage to your probable cap. While I love the Apollo's light weight and packability, the pocket it packs into is curiously deep for my use. (You could stash a large map in there if traveling the backcountry.) The only improvement I can imagine is a two-way zipper. If the cost doesn't warrant the benefit, I'd happily sacrifice the elastic hem drawcord.

I work outside in heavy rain and this has kept my under layers dry in some downpours. It's definitely the best jacket in this price range as far as protection from rain that I've tried. It definitely isn't super breathable so it's not ideal when you're working hard or if it's warm outside but it has vents that help if you get to hot which I like. Most important it stops long periods of heavy rain for a good price.

They best thing I like about the jacket or that not only serves as an rain jacket it also provided protection against wind so it's perfect when your hiking for a longest time and you reach the windy peaks. I like to have it with me because it's lightweight and easy to pack.

I moved from the PNW to a less-saturated environment, but still need a water protection layer from time to time. This shell fits well and does what you need it to - it sheds water.

Have probably used it for over 100 miles of running in rain, snow, and heavy wind. This jacket is very durable and the underarm zips are fantastic for dumping heat
