I bought my first pair of these shoes in 2005. I just bought the grey version, but I am still wearing the ones I bought in 2005. If you want a hiking, rock climbing, around the town, sporty shoe, this is the one. The leather upper stretches over time to give the best support in a shoe possible and the rubber soles have stood up to 14 years of abuse. They are almost perfectly smooth. Is, but still have grip.

I have owned 6 pairs of this shoe and love them. I hate the new colors though. Can you guys bring back the original colors?

I have worn many pairs of this shoe over many years. It continues to be a comfortable shoe for easy climbing, scrambling, and hanging out. I will definitely continue to wear it in the future.

Best shoes I've ever owned. I've had them for 3 years and have walked to many crags and they are still going strong.

The shoes are great! BUT for the love of all that's good in the world please change the colour. I daily these shoes and nobody wants to wear an orange shoe everyday.

love the shoe, have had several pairs. - this pair, the left sole is noticeably uneven and un-usable. returning them as defective // toe of this La SPortive model is a bit too pointed for me but soft enough that I can wear them. The inside is luxuriously soft and absorptive, sockless pleasure!

I have had this shoe a while. I actually have a lot of different shoes as I am one of those people that constantly look for something better. I am not sure there is anything better if you want good grip and protection, especially protection. If you are going to be on your feet for very long or on a lot of rough terrain getting to that technical climb, these shoes are worth their weight in spades. My only complaint is that I would like to see some of the colors they have in Europe!

I've had 4-5 pairs of these over the years and worn them until the soles are worn through. They are so comfortable (once broken in) I wear them for work or play. I've bought a pair for my 3 adult children and they all like them for hiking.

So far so good. Feel quite burley and durable in construction. Vibram soles are essentially a must for me for approach shoes and these are as expected sticky and sturdy. Kind of a hiking boot in shoe form. Haven’t had a chance to boulder or lod grade climb in them but I can tell they would handle 5.8-5.9 gym stuff just fine. I measure on a shoe device between 9-9.5 and the 9.5 are right for me in this shoe. Still snug enough for climbing purposes (vasque approach, I wear a 9. ASICS and Mizuno running 9.5. Sportiva miura 8.5 (but that was initially painfully small now broken in and perfect)).
Interesting as someone pointed out these have same unique lacing system as the Mythos climbing shoes. Too early to tell if that will prematurely wear out laces as some have said. If it does, a little hack I’ve used is paracord for replacement bomber laces. The lace length is also decent, maybe a little short. The TX4s that I returned by comparison were so short, I couldn’t really tie them adequately (also these have a nice webbing heel loop compare to flimsy one on TX4s).
A few days of wear and they’re already more comfortable with a little break in. These would handle a decent backpack load (35-45 lbs) well for a hike, backpacking, or approach.
Happy so far!

Be specific about your likes and dislikes. How was the fit and size? What does the material feel like? How awesome (or not) do you feel wearing them?

Hope these are never canceled as lighter weight shoes are in vogue. These scramble well and protect your feet.

Ive been wearing my eddie bauer hiking boots for the past two years and to say the least my lady game has been weak at best:( As soon as i confirmed the order for my new LA Sportiva Boulder X the ladies have knocking at my door! Already got half a phone number in a week #newrecord. I believe the unique charcoal and blue color combinination speaks the language of love to the females.

This is my second pair. I am a picky shoe person when it comes to fit and function. I've used my first pair every day for the last six months while working at a resort as well as for hiking and cycling. They grip well and dont where out very fast. Unless the design is changed I'll be back for a third pair.

I wore these this summer, July-Aug 2018, on a climbing trip into the Cirque of the Towers, Wind River Range, Wyoming. With 60+ pound pack of a week's food, climbing equipment, ropes, etc. This shoe performed better than my heavy duty Montagne's the year before. They were outstanding in how they gripped the rock, cushioned my feet, and kept my feet pretty dry during a two hour downpour/hailstorm on the hike out.
On approaches they also performed well. I felt like I had real control over my foot placements, and I had no fear of the rubber slipping, no matter what the conditions were.
My one complaint--they're too bulky and heavy to carry up a long, alpine route for the hike/rappel down. No matter though, I love these shoes! I wear my souped up Teva's (climbing rubber on the bottom) for light carrying up long routes.: )

These shoes are heavy and durable. It takes a bit of time to break them in, and once you do the fit is still snug but comfortable. They climb really well. I've hiked, scrambled, short-roped, and led in these. My feet have stayed dry after two days in steady rain wearing these shoes. The only thing I wouldn't recommend would be carrying these in a pack up a route to wear for the descent. I've got a pair of super-light TX2s for that. But for burly approaches, aid climbing, 3rd and 4th class, these are awesome.

A-fantastic in every way except the sticky rubber wears out way too fast - the lacing and fit is perfect and this would be perfect do everything shoe if they updated it with less sticky and harder wearing rubber - i went thru a sole in 8 months wearing them as my everyday shoe - otherwise prob the best shoe on the market

I have worn through shoes after one Zion wall. This is the first shoe that has held up to standing in aiders all day, hiking miles with a pack, and route setting in the local climbing gym.

Wore them all weekend in Joshua Tree, held great in class 3 scrambling, free soloed some low class 5 stuff and finished off with a 10 mile hike on the last of three days. My feet felt great all day and the day after. Great Shoe.

Did the West Coast trail (British Columbia, Canada). Very slippery wet terrain. Great shoe for the rugged forest trails/beach/boulders/slippery boardwalks. Dried quick enough.

Great shoe, support, and comfort in the roughest trail conditions. 6 miles or 12 miles, this shoe is up for it. Proven in Colorado and the Bavarian Alps. Have just bought a second pair. Please carry replacement laces for this shoe, for my first pair!

Superb performance on steep scrambles / low grade technical climbs. Stiff through the forefoot, able to jam the toe into cracks, medial edging better than lateral. I broke an ankle and have been wearing these around town while I learn how to walk again; the stability they provide is most welcome, the lacing system is thoughtful and flexible enough to accommodate tape / splints. Rubber has been durable within reason for how sticky it is, stable on wet rock and snow. Excellent shoe for the price. Took a while to break in.

I live in CO and spend time in the Gore Range which has a lot of gnarly ridges and approaches. Lightweight approach shoes don't work for me. This shoe does what it is advertised to do. There is great support all around and it is a burly shoe, but not a cluncky old-school feeling. Sensitive enough to handle class 4 or 5 climbing. Like the sole and rubber is sticky, and yes it handles wet rock very well. I can manage smaller snow sections that don't require crampons. They don't breathe well with leather tongue but in the mountains that shouldn't be a problem, and it stays in place without flopping to one side. Once the laces are adjusted and tied they are set and don't need constant adjustment, like the lacing wrapping around the back of the ankle. Shoes will need a longer break-in time so wear them around town a little before heading up. One minor complaint is the rubber rand fully wraps around the shoe and this offers a lot of protection, but it is thin in the toe. It should be thicker in my opinion in the evolution of this shoe. Overall, nice work LaSportiva!
