I purchased these last minute for a White Mountain treck. I wanted to purchase the Salomon LTR GTX size 5, because they are a perfect roomy fit for my typically 5.5 foot, but they were sold out. So, in comparison, these did well- no blisters on the first time out. They are more heavyduty than the LTRs, and the toebox is bigger- I would say better for coldweather hiking. The lacelocks were great, but I had to learn to loosen the top ties as my ankles were getting bruised by the stiffer and higher material. The tongue also wasn't as padded, but a thicker pair of socks would do the trick. Personally, I preferred the slightly smaller fit and lightness of the LTRs better, but these are certainly servicable.

i bought these boots about 6 months ago for all my dog walking around the pennines and was initially loved them. They are comfortable and light as advertised but since discovered that when they get wet on the outside the fabric holds on to the water and seems to spread it around the inside and outside of the boot through capillary action. They withstand wading through pools of water i.e are waterproof and have no signs of those tell tale pinpoint leaks, so I can get home with relatively dry feet, however when I leave them to dry overnight on a heated floor (21oC), next to the dehumidifier, in the morning they're still soaking wet through on the outside and the inside of the boot is now also soaked throughout, which means I can't wear them the following day! It takes about 4-5 days to dry this synthetic boot on a heated floor in summer!? So I need 5 pairs to wear on rotation for my daily dog walks if I'm to start each day with dry footwear? That's not good! This is clearly a fabric design issue. A great shame, I've worn Solomons for 30years without an issue.

I like the LTR GTX and thought I would give these a try. The lacing system is excellent, the tread is great and there is plenty of toe room. Unfortunately, my heel slid up and down for no apparent reason. I had the ankles laced tightly but that didn't stop the problem. I will continue with my LTR's (wishing they came in more colors).

I bought these a year ago and have worn them many times. They are my go-to hiking boots as they are the most comfortable boots I own. They are rugged and have gone bushwhacking several times. My feet do not get wet in them. The fabric on the outside will retain a bit of water. The sole has great grip. My feet are a bit wide and these give ample room. I hope they keep this style around so I can get another pair once mine wear out.

I purchased the competitor's hiking boots (for over 10 years because they were the best hiking boots). Then when I became vegan, I had to look for something else. These hiking boots had no leather so purchased them. While they were a bit higher than my other hiking boots and were a bit more stiff, they are now my favourite pair of boots. Even though I still have the other hiking boots, I always go to this pair to wear. SO I realized it was pure LOVE for these boots!

Love these boots. I've worn them hunting quite a few times already. Never once complained about feet hurting, especially during gruesome hikes.

They took a little time to break in around the ankles but I love the advanced chassis and roomy toe box. As with all GTX shoes, breathability is as good as can be expected with a waterproof membrane. Solid when carrying a full pack and helped to reduce foot fatigue. I've used them so far mostly in very wet, muddy spring conditions and they held up well. The outsole is medium for traction over slippery roots. Good job Salomon!

these seem to be serious hiking boots. more than I would need for a week in the alps. I would have kept them except that the material inside my right ankle pressed in a painful way. I think it is my foot and Salomons because I had same discomfort with other Salomon models. nice wide toe box. not as much arch support as I would have liked.

Helaas vind ik de bovenkant van de schoen stug. Waardoor het bij het lopen zeer doet boven mijn enkel. Verder valt de schoen om de voet goed.

Great light boots but wore them 5 times already and still getting blisters at the back of my heel. Tried insoles and moleskin but nothing works. Not sure how to correct this.

I wanted to like this boot, but worried that the metal lacing eyelets would eventually wear through the lining and rub. Also, my physical therapist was thumbs down on these boots because there is no support for the sides of the feet. The shoe design is poor and and the material doesn't offer stability and support. Way too soft. For me, these boots won't do for long hikes, so I'm returning them.

I really wanted to like this boot, but it didn't work for my feet at all. It's lighter than the other Solomon's I've tried (a good thing) and doesn't run quite as large/wide. But just not made for my feet.
