This shoe is so versatile. I can't say enough regarding the overall quality and performance of the upper materials combined with the midsole and outsole. Salomon really knows how to build quality products that perform well beyond the majority of the industry standard and other major brands. The toe box is a good size, I wouldn't call it narrow, and doesn't crowd your piggies. Keep in mind that Salomon's typically run a little lower volume and slightly narrow in the instep area of the foot; so, if you like a high volume shoe then this might be a little snug in this area of the foot for you. I'm not overly crazy about the lacing system but it does work very well; but, Salomon needs to make the lace pocket open from the top of their tongue like they do on some of their competition models because once you properly tighten the laces you can't readily access the pocket from below because the laces are holding it shut; so, you can simply put the lace excess through the little pull tab at the top of the tongue to keep it out of the way if need be. Due to the increased stack height and improved combination of materials used in the midsole these shoes produce a very, very stable ride with great protection combined with really good cushion. I wish the lug depth was a little deeper but Salomon has a great performing outsole and this is no exception, excellent all around traction in wet or dry conditions. On or off the trail this shoe can take on whatever you need and keep your foot well protected due to the stack height combined with the film insert/rock plate. If your looking for 4wd for your feet in a shoe instead of a boot this may be the shoe for you. Happy trails.

Dear Salomon Sense Max 2: "How do I love thee, let me count the ways?" ... I am a female who normally wears a women's size 12 M and in this Salomon shoe I am very comfortable in a men's 11 M with plenty of room in the toe box and perfect width. I over pronate severely and there is room for my 3/4 inch arch inserts. The grip under the shoe is fabulous. I wear a light to medium weight sock with this shoe and it fits just great. My feet just say "ahhhh" when I wear them and they are very happy. *** If Salomon would make this shoe in some female friendly colors, like basic navy blue and ruby red, I would buy them as well. And I am so glad Salomon does not make shoes with those horrific white cheap-looking soles.I want to thank Salomon for improving the fit in the length and the width with this new shoe. Please keep it up with your other new styles in the design process.
