Customer Reviews New Balance Fresh Foam Hierro v4

I've owned all 4 versions of the Hierro and these rate 2nd. v1 were great but the sole was slippery and dangerous on wet surfaces. v2 were my favorite and I still use them to slip on when I'm running errands. v3 started using the "bootie construction" which eliminated the possibility of slipping them on, but they fit comfortably once you get them on - but they're a bit bulky. I specifically got the first two versions because they were one of the only Fresh Foam styles that didn't use the bootie construction. v4 is an improvement in terms of bulkiness and still feel great, but it's a workout to get them on. I've switched to the 574v2 for daily use but they aren't nearly as comfortable. Ditch the bootie and go back to the v1/v2 with an updated style!

The Hierro v4 is built tough ! This shoe is a trail killer. The Vibram outsole has deep lugs and will give you above average traction in any weather... The Fresh Foam midsole is beefy and will offer plenty of cushioning for the long haul. A glove like fit from the Hyposkin upper will hug your foot nicely . Runs a hair small so I went a half size and the fit is perfect. This shoe also offers a fairly roomy toe box. The Hierro v4 is a trail beast !!

Fit was sized correctly. Bought these shoes just days before going to Las Vegas for a week. First time I've ever gone to Vegas without wearing shoes and breaking them in first. These have been one of the most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever worn. We walked and walked and walked................ Lol Spent a day on hiking trails at Red Rock Canyon and another at Valley of Fire, plus a lot of walking on concrete up and down the strip. Not one blister or any discomfort the entire trip. Would highly recommend these.

I love these shoes. It feels like you are walking on clouds. I've recently had a change in my life after a terrible ACL injury, surgery and recovery. My Physical therapist helped me select these shoes for light running on trails Imagine gravel or dirt versus single track as I'm not there yet. I've grown to love wearing these shoes all the time and they are remarkably comfortable. I live in the PNW so trail shoes are fashionable and can get away wearing them about, but, don't confuse this shoe with a lifestyle sneaker. It's truly a great performer.

Never worn NB shoes before. Never had a BETTER fit & feel right out of the box. Put them on & went for an 8 mile run on dirt & road mix. These shoes absolutely RULE. Rugged, super comfy & supportive. If there is 1 critique it would be that the sock-style collar is a bit of a different feel & slightly harder to get into—but barely. After my first run, I was like: these shoes are so good I should write a review. Now I've but another 60 miles on them & I may never go back to adidas BOOST or Nike Zoom.

I’ve worn new balance for several year and liked their fit and build. Went with the 2E (normally go D width)?and fits well.

Fit, size and looks were good, but the shoe squeaked. Wore them around the house, but they still served as an early warning system for those around me. Purchased another pair--New Balance--and they don't squeak.

Initial fit is good...had to go with the WIDE size to get enough room in the toe box. I am looking forward to seeing how they do as I get more miles on them.

I ordered these in a size 15, which is what I normally wear for New Balance shoes. I really like the looks and the very chunky sole on these, but the strange stretchy liner around the opening of the shoe made thee unwearable. I already have large feet, and it was almost impossible to get this shoe on past the heel. The opening simply isn't large enough for a large foot.

The sock opening is almost impossible to get on, but worth the struggle. Order the 2E wide, almost too wide, which is a good thing, but could probably do ok with normal size.

These shoes are very small. I usually order a half size larger than needed for a little extra width, but my toes were still smashed against the front. The shoes also felt narrow, but It may have been the sock-type inner.

These are nice-looking shoes with a great, chunky sole for outdoor activities, but I couldn't even get these on my feet. The narrow elastic opening would not open large enough for me to fit my heel in them. I ordered a size 15, and they may fit a size 15 foot, but they didn't include a size 15 opening. Very disappointed because I liked the appearance of these a lot.

It’s good the sock part is hard to put on. I bet it gets better over time. It’s a boxy looking shoes it’s for trail hiking.

These were impossible to get on my foot. The opening was to small and with the tongue of the shoe being sewn in to the shoe, there was no way to open the shoe wide enough to put my foot wholly into the shoe. This appears to be a very poor design.
