I have had my eye on these for a while and finally ordered them. After reading the reviews, I decided to order my usual size 9 and an 8.5 since some of the reviews said to go a half size smaller. The 8.5 was perfect. Another thing noted in the reviews I read said that they were very slick and had no traction. That they were slipping and sliding all over. That’s one thing that kept me from ordering originally. When I tried the 9’s on they fell like a good fit, however, when I walked across the carpet I nearly slipped and fell. I turned them over and the bottoms were smooth, completely without traction. I decided to take the 8.5’s out to see the difference in sizing. The leather was a bit softer, not as stiff as the other pair. I turned them over and these had more traction. (I’ve included a picture of the difference in the bottoms on the two different sizes) I tried them on and there was only a negligible difference in sizing. They worked, and I didn’t slip at all. Definitely keeping these. The slick pair are going back. The leather is gorgeous, though differing on both pairs. They are comfortable right out of the box. Highly recommended getting these before they’re gone!

Sigh. Beautiful boot, style, leather, fit, comfort...but no tread or grip on the sole. I was slipping all over the place and had to return.

I love these booties!! I’ve been scoping out different brands since I didn’t have a pair of ankle boots in my wardrobe. I had concerns about the heel material for some of the contenders - paper or fabric wrapped, which just doesn’t work for me! I have had to break in all of my other Frye’s (so worth it), but not the Carson piping bootie. These were comfortable right out of the box. If you’re on the fence over the price, don’t be - Frye quality is second to none. These are my 5th pair of Frye’s (2x Veronica Slouch, 1 Harness 12R, 1 Billy Short), and I’m sure they won’t be my last.

I really like the look of this shoe. I was debating this shoe with the Carly Double Zip. I ordered 7.5. It had a smooth fit. No problem. The fit was excellent even though I could have used a little bit more room in the forefoot. I'm not a wide but I definitely need just a bit of room in the forefoot. The shoe has a sleek look with the boot height providing a little bit more style to it. I like the extra detailing in the leather. I ordered the Carly Double Zip and the Carson Piping Bootie to be with straight leg pants and they both really looked great. Unfortunately, the toe width was the deal breaker for me. If you don't have any problem in that area, you'll be fine. The boot is beautiful, it has a great feel. If I had been able to keep them, I would not have been able to wear a thin sock with them. Something sheer.

Beautiful boots. Unfortunately, the toe box is too tight and the heel is too loose. Have to return.

These booties are wonderful. The leather is a beautiful brown and they break in really fast. I'm usually anywhere from a 6-7 in Frye and I got a 7 in these. Would definitely recommend.

This style of Frye bootie is perfect for jeans! Short enough that it doesn't interfere with length of jeans and has no annoying pull tab in the back which always get caught on back of jean legs. Also super nice with casual dresses. True to size as I am a size 8 1/2 and the fit is perfect and comfortable. I have a medium foot...if your foot is wide, you may have a problem with the width. But, they do stretch with time. Beautiful tan leather. Such a winner! Was so fortunate to get them on sale! Thank you Zappos!

I wanted a simple good quality pair of leather short boots in a cognac color to sort of disappear at the hem of pants, while providing a quality well-heeled foundation. These are great. Frye has always been a well made leather shoe. I did note that these are not a thick leather, though the kind of oiled finish is good and they are lined with leather and have leather soles. They'd be too thin a leather for working in the field (like my other Frye high boots can do while looking stylish), but these are city boots for looking well dressed. So . . . they fit the bill perfectly. They are comfy, though the toe box could use a tiny bit more room, but not enough that it's an issue; probably just noticing it because they're new. They are the same toe shape as my older Frye boots that are heaven to wear. I would like to note that a number of reviewers have complained about the lack of traction. These boots have leather soles, not rubber. That means they are better and will last longer. You can have leather soles redone as they wear, which takes much longer than rubber soles. All you have to do, is remember that they are a bit slick in the beginning, and take them outside and walk around on pavement until they are no longer slick. That will rough them up enough enough AND you still be able to dance in them without sticking to the floor like a cheaper rubber soled shoe will do. The best made mens dress shoes have leather soles. That's the old, better quality way of making shoes. You need rubber for some things - sneakers, snow/ice traction, for example, but a leather sole is a sign of better quality and the show will likely wear longer. I was looking for that feature (I like to dance), and Frye is my go-to for that. I hope they continue making them this way.

I love these booties. I ordered several other, cheaper pairs, hoping to be able to avoid buying an expensive pair, but there was just no comparison in the style, fit and comfort of these Fryes. This is my second pair of Frye boots and they are worth it (if you can get them on sale). As soon as I put them on, I knew the others weren't going to make the cut. They fit perfect and were comfortable right out of the box. I wore them all day today and no complaints. I can see these being go-tos, so they will be worth the money. They are cute and quality and will hopefully last forever.

I was soooo excited about these when I ordered them, but I just didn’t love them once I got them in. They are gorgeous quality, but felt and looked sloppy and clunky on my feet. Sent them back and will keep looking for cute, quality black booties.

I was very disappointed in the leather. After a few wears it became so scuffed I had to polish. I used the same products I use on any other leather products and these are completely dulled. I can't find anything to shine them up again. I don't want them shiny, but it's like they lost a protective coat and are raw leather now. Even the color is entirely different, less rich.

I love these boots. I bought them in the sea pine color and it is so unusual and beautiful! I get complimented on them every time I wear them. They're roomy, but I wear them with socks and they're not falling off or anything. I would highly recommend them. They're worth the price.

I love these boots. I almost always wear a size 8 and it was no different with these boots. I think the beige color is great with a little bit of an intentional distressed look and simple details. The shoe feels like typical durable Frye quality and the leather is soft and comfy. Frye’s typical lack of padding in the footbed is also present, but they’re still comfortable to wear. The opening around the ankle finds that sweet spot between being so wide that your socks are on display and rubbing your ankle every step you take from being too tight. I also love the more rounded toe area since I don’t have to worry about squished toes. I’m obviously a big fan.

I ordered a size 10, because I am between sizes at 10.5. They were too tight through the toes so I am returning and will order size 11. Beautiful boots.

I have a high instep, and couldn't get my foot in even with the zipper all the way down. Too bad, because it's a gorgeous simple bootie with smooth, supple leather.

Very nice boot, comfy and goes with everything. I've not worn it yet but it does feel comfortable right out of the box. I have a wide foot and the width feels very roomy, perhaps it might be a bit too wide for those with a more narrow foot?

These boots were exactly what I was looking for. Color was great and I loved the style. Unfortunately, they run about 1/2 size....maybe even a full size.....too large. My foot was slipping around like crazy. Hopefully, my size will be in stock soon.

Ran about a half size large. I generally wear an 8 in boots snd a 7.5 in shoes. These were too large in size 8. Leather was good quality but I did not feel the footed had much cushioning. I found my older Fryes had more cushioning. I sadly returned.

These are terribly soft boots, and overall lovely, but the fit must have been at least a full size too large. At least for this pair which was sent to me.

These are HUGE! I have an old pair of Frye's in an 8.5 and they fit perfectly. I ordered the Carson Piping in an 8.5 and honestly it felt like a 9 or 10! I reordered in a size 8 and though it's a bit smaller it's still way too big and very long in the toe. I can only assume there must be some manufacturing issue.

Great style that looks good with boot cut, straight, or ankle jeans. The western style heel adds the right amount of height but still works for my constant city walking. The stitch detail adds a nice touch and the zipper makes on/off easy. In my experience Frye is always dependable for quality.

These boots fit the bill for what I was looking for- something to wear with spring dresses that looks a little more modern/cool than wearing flats or heels. They look good and are comfortable to wear. Happy with them.
