This jacket is perfect for spring weather. And the elastic cuffs are a great touch. The jacket is a flattering fit and fits a little longer in my opinion. I got a size small 36" bust 25" waist 5'2"

This has become my "never leave the house without it" hoody. Its perfect for all-day wear and is decently wind and water repellant. The Proton FL packs up light and small and handles abrasion much better than other layers I have tried. It is significantly warmer than its weight would have you believe. A new favorite piece for me!

Recently purchased this for spring through fall endeavors. The jacket seems great and breathable.
The sunlust color is almost a rust or mustard. See attached pic of jacket with indoor lighting next to my bf's orange jacket.

I got the Proton FL today in Sunlust colour, size L. I am 5'2, 140 lbs. The size was just right, although the sleeves could be a bit roomier. I took it immediately for xcountry skiing. I wanted to compare it with the older version of the jacket that I used up to now.
It was about -5C and high winds. As a base layer, I had the Rho Lt under this jacket. That's it!!! I was surprised how soft and light the fabric is, and yet, I didn't feel cold. I sweat a lot on skis, but this jacket kept me relatively dry. The fabric inside of the jacket is "patterned fluff". I don't know how else to call it. It is so pleasant to touch that I wanted to keep my hand in the pockets all the time. Thanks to this jacket, I enjoyed the xcountry skiing much more that at some other time. The jacket felt like I had nothing on, so light. And minimal sweat. So, how does the new Proton Lt compare with the old version of self? It is lighter, inside fabric is a "patterned fluff", it takes the sweat away more efficiently...it is almost perfect. I say almost, because the new jacket has only one breast pocket. The old jacket had two, and it was better that way. I wish you can add the second breast pocket to it in the future. But still, it is one of the best products from Arcteryx.

I bought this jacket for ski touring. I find the Atom to be clammy when I'm doing high output activities, especially the inner fabric. I run decently hot when doing activity. I wore the Proton FL last weekend on my first outing of the season. It was -14. I was able to wear my Proton FL the entire tour! I was really impressed that I didn't overheat or feel to sweaty or clammy. It does the exact job I want it to.
I am 5'7", 155lbs and got it in a large. I wear a medium in the Sentinel and Atom hoody. I read it was a snug fit so I sized up and it is roomy enough to fit a fleece and baselayer underneath comfortably. I likely could have worn a medium it would just be a snug fit. My only change to it would be a brighter colour! I got the cobalt and its beautiful, but hard to see in the backcountry.

Love this jacket! It's a four season piece, despite having a ton of coats it's the one I reach for all the time for almost everything. Breathes well during high output activities, stays dry against your body, is more water repellant than the Atom.
I am consistently a small in Arc tops, but I had to size up to a medium for full mobility in the shoulders. It is cut a little longer and leaner. There's good bum coverage for some warmth.
I would probably buy a second in a fun bright colour.

Since I own Arc'teryx down and waterproof shell jackets already, I wanted a lighter insulated jacket for hiking in the Spring and Fall.
The Proton FL hoody is perfect for the latter as it keeps off the chill, but doesn't allow you to overheat once you get moving. The face fabric is as durable as a waterproof shell without the crunchy feel to it. I like the slim cut, the unique design at the cuffs and zippered side pockets. This is a great jacket for just knocking around town too!

Bought this last year in navy blue and I wore it for literally EVERY ski tour all winter, spring, and summer. It has a bit of wear from my beacon, but nothing serious yet. LOVE the double chest pockets, so practical, and the more durable chest fabric. I'm between a S/M with Arcteryx, and went with the small so I could layer this under a bigger puffy if needed and it was the right call. I've also been wearing this on cool, fall runs in the mountains and am pretty happy with it there too. I'd love to see more colours in this, maybe brighter?, so I could have a backup for wash day.

Ok, so I need more than one? Probably not BUT I NEED A BACKUP. Just in case it ever stops being made. I love this jacket. It's perfect for climbing, ski touring, hiking, cold running, cold biking. You name it. The fit is *chefs kiss* for high output activities. I wear a trim base layer underneath and it is seriously perfect. Sometimes I'll throw on a Delta LT zip neck if I'm feeling frisky / frigid. I wear a size small / 6 in everything Arc'teryx except my ski shell (an old Shashka that I layer over an Atom LT). I have a Beta LT in a size small too. The double pockets are to die for. So much room for snacks! Pretty please make more non-blue colors. I have black sapphire which is also blue. Make this in Rhapsody or Tatsu! Or whatever wine and olive color names are hip next season.

This is one of the few truly 'trim fit' items left in the insulated jackets, as most others have been revised in recent years to a 'relaxed fit'. Please don't revise this one too - leave a few items for those of us who were first drawn to Arcteryx by its beautifully fitted clothing! Functionality of this jacket is excellent as expected, and it's my favourite shoulder season jacket - keeping me warm when walking without making me overheat. All round super.

Bought this a year ago and have been using it ever since. It's a perfect mid-layer for skiing in the -20s or outer layer in milder temperatures (-10 to 10C ish) when running, hiking, biking, camping, x-country skiing etc. Way more stylish (in my humble opinion) than the Atom LT (if that was possible), a bit more slim-fitting. Hood is super cute and fits a helmet. Fabric is way more robust than the Atom; no mean wind gusts up your sides, and doesn't catch on rock faces. I'm in love.
I did not find any discrepancy in sizes, contrary to another reviews mentioned; I'm normally an XS and this XS fits perfectly.

I use this jacket when its too warm to use a Proton Lt or Atom Lt. This jacket is the perfect choice if you tend to run hot during activities. Amazing breathability yet just enough insulation. This jackets has two chest pockets as well as the normal hand pockets. I find the extra pockets to be very useful. The jacket is lightweight and perfect to stuff in your pack if it suddenly gets cold while you wear a thinner layer. This feels much more durable than the fabric on the Atoms. Again, I will recommend looking at the proton line for durability and breathabilyt

My standard hiking layering system is a lightweight long-sleeve tech shirt and Atom SL vest with my Atom LT and Imber rain coat in my backpack to use if the weather turns.
My only complaint was the Atom LT was a bit warm and lacked breathability during the summer. I'd put it on and take it off multiple times. I bought this looking for a jacket to use instead that would be a bit lighter and breathe better, and so far I'm really happy with the result. I waffled back and forth between the FL and LT but am happy I went with this one because it's warmer than I expected. Personally I love the uninsulated hood because it layers better but is nice to have to deflect light rain drops without having to pull out my rain coat. My only complaint - I wish there were more colors! Oh, and I wish they made a women's AR version for winter use.

I love this jacket. I originally was looking at the Atom series but I have a long torso and found that model short on me. The staff suggested the Proton FL and it fit my length so much better. I hesitated as well as it feels so light weight I wasn't sure it would add much to my layering for multi pitch climbing but it has proven to be so warm despite its' light weight and I wear it all the time. It is super! I wish it was in more colours! Get it!! The only downside is that the top half of the hood has no insulation but it's minor.

If you sweat a lot like during skinning up some high mountain, this is the jacket to have. It takes the moisture away. I own lots of Arcteryx jacket, but this one does the best job at keeping you dry on the inside. However, it runs small. It is not possible to put too much of layering under it. Also, I wish the engineers at Arcteryx took into consideration to make the sleeves wider. They are too narrow and tight. This is also true for some other items such as the Rho AR base layer. I had to upsize 2!!! sizes on this one. I am 5'2 but I had to buy size XL to comfortably fit into the sleeves with my base layers.

So far a great jacket, been using this jacket for fat biking temp so far temp around -7C to 0C and its just the right amount of breathability and wind resistance. Love it so far...curious how it will perform in temp below -7C. Only disappointment is I've bought a number of Arc-teryx items in women's medium and found this jacket tight around the chest (I'm a b-cup), so I had to go up to a large. It's a lil roomier then I'd like but it works. Not sure why there is was a size difference (ie. Atom SL). I'd describe my body type between curvy /athletic.

I was excited to try the new Proton FL jacket. It fit just slightly slimmer than my Atom LT in the same size. I could fit a baselayer under it with room for a medium fleece, and even a heavier weight fleece worked, making the jacket fitted, since there is a little stretch to the Proton fabric. I liked the direct insulation, and it would make it a good jacket to wear just over a short sleeve top, since the lining feels nice on bare arms. The hood is a little different in that it only has insulation part way up. I'm sure that's for breathability. My only concern was that I could see tearing right through it if I hung the jacket by the hood on a hook. Of course that could be avoided. I would have kept the jacket, if it wasn't for the fact that when zipped up all the way with the hood up, the front came clear up over my mouth. That's a good feature in a rain jacket, but it's not something I want in a lightweight jacket/mid-layer like this. With the hood down, I could push it under my chin, but then it ballooned out and the zipper was uncomfortable against my neck. You can actually see that it fits the same way on the model in the photos (see the photo of it zipped up under her chin). To some people the tall collar is probably an advantage, and it may not fit other people the same way as me and the model , so I do recommend the jacket if you're considering it.
