I spent a year searching for the perfect leather waterproof ankle boot to support my high arches and withstand PNW weather. These boots are PERFECT! The sole is super cushioned and comfortable (unlike Blondos), they have some heft without being too clunky (unlike Blundstones), and so far they don't eat my socks (unlike Sorels). They work great for long walks, work, and nights out. Highly recommend!

These boots were the winners of a wide-ranging audition for Shoes to Take to Ireland in Winter. The materials and construction are very nice and the sole is stitched to the upper - not just glued. The runner-up was the Heather boot by UGG, but the Cove felt more supportive and the larger and more simple silhouette helped to visually balance heavy coat and backpack.
The only issue I’ve had with them is that due to the shaping of the boot, the insoles almost always come out when I take my foot out, but it’s a simple matter to slide the insoles back in. I’ve tromped through cold, wet terrain for the past few weeks and am very happy with my choice.

Good fit, seemed true to size. Super cute, pretty comfy, and easy to get into, unlike a lot of other Chelsea boots (including some Blunnies I bought at the same time).
So why 2 stars? The sock slide.
There is a seam running through the inner top of the boot, right in the middle. That seam, or something else, catches on my socks and causes them to slowly slide forward off my feet. I tried 3 different pairs of socks with the boots, so it's not the socks, it's the boots. Thankfully, Zappos customer service is amazing and gave me a refund. I may donate them or see how much they are to repair. I'm really bummed, because they're cute as heck, but it is awfully awkward to walk when your socks bunch up.

I took these out of the box and wore them the next day on a trip to Pittsburg. I shopped all day in them, walking like 5 miles (according to my phone). The next morning it was icy rain and I had to scrape ice off my windshield. These kept me completely dry. They are a little clunkier than regular born boots (which I've owned probably 15 pairs of over the past 10 years they fit so well), but still make it for biz casual.

Great rugged looking casual boot. I put my custom (3/4) orthotic on top of the removable liner, and my toes still have wiggle room. They’re very comfortable and are great walking on outside concrete and indoor tile/hard flooring. Liked so much that I also ordered the brown pair, as well.

I ordered a 10 and an 11 since Born doesn’t make a 10.5. The difference is size for length was negligible, but the width was much bigger, including the neck of the boot. So, 10 too tight on the toes and 11 totally sloppy. Going back!

I really love this boot. I've been wearing a thinly soled Steve Madden Troopa boot for the last several years, and I honestly never thought I'd get something different. But this year, I decided to change up my style of shoes, and I chose the Born Cove.
Right of the box, these shoes feel great. The soles aren't too thick, the suede leather and color is amazing, and I felt like the boots were already ready to go hiking for hours in—they weren't stiff or uncomfortable. They're warm, stylish, and just look awesome. I'll be able to dress them up or down, go hiking, walking in cities for hours on end, and I don't think my feet will hurt at all.
The hardest part was the size. I'm a size 8.5 in my Steve Madden boots, so I ordered a 8.5 and a 9 to compare sizes (some reviews said the boots were true to size, some said they were too big, and some said they were too small). I ordered both and walked around in both inside my house for about a day. I liked the 8.5 because they didn't have much heel-slip and felt snug—but they were almost too snug. The size 9 boots were the same in length (so no visible differences in size), but they were definitely looser around the in-step area and in the heel—my heel slipped a bit, but the boot felt great overall. I could wear them standing or walking and just felt great. (They're incredibly comfortable.) I usually wear thick Darn Tough socks, so I made sure to try on both boots with thick and thin socks.
In the end (after a day's consideration), I chose the size 9. After doing some research on Chelsea boots, I found that heel-slip is normal, and that you want your in-step (the leather part on the top of your foot) to be snug—like a firm handshake—but not so tight that your feet are in pain (which is honestly how the 8.5 felt—I liked the snugness, but after a moment it always felt like the leather was crushing my feet and cutting off a small amount of circulation).
These boots are awesome, and I can't wait to go on some adventures with them.

I chose these boots for a trip to Paris in January after considering many, many other brands. I hear a lot of great things about Blundstone, but they just didn't fit me well and I couldn't risk my comfort by hoping they'd break in in time.
These Born boots, however, fit me well right out of the box. I initially wanted black, but the olive suede surprised me by coordinating well with the clothes I plan to bring on the trip. They fit me well in the forefoot, not too tight, as well as over the instep which is where my problems were with the other brands.
I did purchase a pair of Superfeet insoles for extra cushioning (the Born insoles are removeable) and I will treat them with extra waterproofing spray to keep the suede looking good.
I saw that other reviewers referred to them as "sock eaters" so I am auditioning a variety of socks to see which work best. So far, I like my Smartwool ankle socks. They stay up and you can just barely see them. All in all, I am pleased with these and think they will be great travel shoes.

I’ve tried several brands of pull-on Chelsea style boots, but no bueno. I have a high arch and wider forefoot across the ball of foot, and a narrow heel. I ordered up a size to an 8 so I can wear them (hopefully!) with a thicker wool sock. Just pulled them and and while they are snug across the instep, they are no where near as tight (and painful!) as the pair of Blundstones I tried in the same size. Pretty sure that once they loosen up a bit they will be just right. Love the grey suede! Not as harsh as black, but dark enough grey so they won’t show a ton of dirt. I do wish Born offered their shoes/boots in multiple widths.

Dear Born: I LOVE your shoes. So why, oh why, do you hate women with size 10.5 feet? 11 is too big, 10 is too small. I regret having to send back both pairs. (Sad face.)

This is the most perfect bootie ever. Comfortable enough to stand all day at work and walk my pup 2 miles in the evening. I get so many complements on the style and color (green). I pair it with tapered pants or jeans and tights. After a week I ordered my mom a pair as well and she’s worn them everyday since she got them in the mail. Very warm and perfect for rainy weather as well. I’ll be purchasing this bootie again in more colors.

Like many women, I have a wide toe area and narrow heel. I need a decent arch support so my foot doesn't slide forward and cram my toes. In desperate need of casual, but office-appropriate, waterproof boots, I tried Ariats, Sorrells, Merrels and this pair of Borns. The Born was the winner. The fit is good -- no toe squeezing and little to no heel slipping. The gray is dark enough to go well with black pants, brown tones, and jeans. I can't yet comment on the waterproof nature, but I'm hopeful about that. I typically wear a 7.5 or 8. In this case, the 8 works best. All in all, this is a winner.

Extraordinarily comfortable, good looking and warm boot — I wore these all over Boston during a cold snap and they were delightful right out of the box! I have high arches and I prefer a roomier toe box - these were perfect.

Ive already written a review but i wrote that review straight out of the box, it was a positive review. But after wearing these boots for over 2 months now, thru rainy and snowy days at the Great Smokey Mountains, Id like to say they are exactly what they say they are, waterproof and comfortable. I suffer plantar fasciitis and I thought for sure my feet would suffer wearing these cute boots. Much to my surprise they offer sufficient support and kept my feet pretty darn comfortable. Im so happy i ordered them. I wear a 7.5, but in boots I've learned i wear a 8 to be able to get my wide foot in there comfortably and for whatever crazy reason they are never to big. If they are to big its at the heel, it slides a tiny bit but not enough that it drives me crazy, mostly i don't even notice that slide. The low heel easily makes them a everyday kinda boot. Im really happy with my purchase.

Beautiful shoes! Born has updated their sizing however... That said - as an 8 Wide - I had to order up to an 8 1/2 to accommodate the width of my feet and my bunion. Luckily the 8 1/2 is only a bit longer than the 8 - the bigger size is comfortable and I can even pull out the Born insole and add my own orthotics!
Suede is beautiful and I'm glad it is waterproof...

My first pair of Born's. The size is pretty close to what i'm used to, its a wee bit big in the heel, but not uncomfortably. The leather bc its new and either the boot is maybe just a wee bit narrow or my feet are a wee bit fat LOL they ever so slightly put my feet to sleep - from arch to toe area. Im walking around my house to break them in. I suspect after I get the leather broke in I will no longer have numbness in my feet which is really slight. Definitely keepers. They look really great, the quality of the leather really shines through.
I originally came in to purchase the Blundstone Original boot. I chose this boot for a few reasons. 1. These Born Cove look really similar to the Blundstone, which i still love the look of. 2. These are about $50 cheaper 3. the most important, The Born Cove had so many great reviews. Most reviews spoke of pretty good arch support, I can not buy a pair of any kind of shoe with out decent arch support. I plan on putting these boots to the paces in The Great Smoky Mountains come November, with all the great reviews thru rain and muck i suspect they be just great.

These might be the most comfortable boots I've ever owned. I ordered my usual 7 and they're true to size, maybe ever so slightly smaller than my other Born boots but the brand tends to run a bit large. They have great support and were very comfortable to walk in straight out of the box. The waterproofing is very practical and I've already been able to test it out several times in the rainy PNW. I wouldn't mind a slightly dressier style, but as a casual boot they're pretty cute and look good with pants and leggings.

I’m from the PNW and I’ve been looking for a pair of black Chelsea boots for awhile and I’ve had such a hard time finding a pair that was both comfy and practical, but also stylish. Too many boots were too narrow and had little to no cushioning. These however are amazing. My feet are on the wider side and I have slightly higher arches and these fit amazing. They aren’t too tight and there is room for thicker socks. They were immediately comfy out of the box and there was no break in period! I was able to wear them the next day for over 12 hours and my feet still felt amazing. I highly recommend these and bonus points to being waterproof!

If you love these boots then you might have to order a few pairs and try them out. I wanted to write this review to thank Zappos for its AMAZING return policy. It makes it so easy to find the right pair when ordering online, it’s honestly almost as easy as trying on in a store. I am normally a 10.5 and bought these in a size 10. Too small. Taupe was out of stock in 11 so I ordered black. Then the day before the black ones arrived, taupe 11 came back in stock and I grabbed them. When the black 11’s came, they were still just a smidge too tight across the top of my foot so I was so sad to say goodbye to them because they were perfect in every other way. But the taupe 11’s came and I tried them on just for good measure. They fit a bit looser than the same size black pair, just enough to be perfect! The taupe are the winners and my new everyday boots. I definitely would not have been able to do this trial and error to find the perfect pair without Zappos’ customer friendly returns process!

What you need to know about me: (1) I'm old, (2) I have a dog, (3) I live in the midwest. That means I'm going out a minimum of 3 times a day so I need boots that are warm but easy to take on and off and walk through snow and ice. These are the boots. The tab at the back means I don't have to struggle to pull them on & off, and for a bonus they look sleek not chunky and are waterproof. Born has never let me down!

These boots are comfortable right out of the box and get even more comfortable the more you wear them. I originally ordered the black leather but exchanged for the black suede because the leather style looked a little bit clunkier and I was searching for a winter boot...that didn't look like a winter boot. These work great with skinny jeans, skirts, dresses, you name it. They're incredibly stylish and don't feel like a clunky boot. Have only tested a little bit in the New England winter months but so far, they're holding up very well. Any bits of salt that get onto the boot are easily brushed off, surprising since suede usually soaks that right up. Really loving these! Ordered my true size and they fit perfectly.

I LOVE this shoe. It is so comfortable and durable. It was comfy from the moment I put it on. I wear them almost every day, and they feel great and wear great. So comfy with socks, without socks. I love it. The only downside for me is that the insole comes out when I take them off, but it’s a small price to pay for all the rest of the awesomeness that comes with these shoes. Don’t hesitate if you’re looking for a cute, practical, durable, warm, WATERPROOF chelsea. Try it !

Eats socks, but still excellent. I tried these and a pair of Blundstone, but those rubbed the back of my leg on one side and the blotchy brown color is rather conspicuous.
The Born Cove fit true to size, or ever so slightly small. I wear between a 7-7.5 and tried these on in both sizes. The 7s were slightly tight across the ball of the fit, but I thought they might stretch. The 7.5 were slightly loose with thin socks, but great with slightly thicker socks. So, I went with the 7.5 and am glad that I did. As other reviewers have mentioned, the insole has a tendency to come out when removing the boot, which is moderately annoying. What bother me more is that, unless I am wearing socks that are tight around the ankle, this boot will completely pull the sock down, which is SUPER annoying. So, minus a star for that.
Overall a great boot that I've been wearing non-stop now that fall is here. They are super comfortable, slide on/off easily, look great, and the green is very versatile.

I have very narrow feet and these fit perfectly. Good arch support, as well. I can see them being a tough fit if you have wide feet, though. Love the mossy green color and the fact that they're waterproof, despite the suede finish.
