I have worn mesh and suede Barrados for many years and still have about eight pairs. A 7.5 fits me perfectly and I have found them wonderful for travel and everyday casual wear. So I was very unhappy when several years ago they became unavailable, except occasionally in mesh black or pale beige (which I promptly bought more of). Accordingly, I was glad to see the leather Barrado Luxe available for the first time and ordered a pair. Sadly, I have had to return them because the leather was uncomfortably stiff and the top hit me painfully right under my ankle bones, unlike the suede and mesh Barrados I wear almost daily. I think the cut of the uppers must be subtly higher than in the mesh and suede versions, and the stiff leather exacerbates the problem.

I purchased this shoe years ago and have so elated to have found it again. I love this shoe. I am a barefoot style wearer, so they are perfect. Adjusting to the zero drop, barefoot style was difficult at first, but my foot pain is so much less, once the transition was made. These shoe have traveled all over the US and Europe with me. I can dress them up or even hike in them. I literally wash mine in the washing machine. Ordering a new pair today, although the old pair is still in great shape.

I have always had good luck with the Merrill brand. I like the ones that look more like shoes than athletic shoes. This is a good example . After reading the comments on this site about the zippers, I put a little WD-40 on the zipper before wearing the shoes. Works fine. I'm happy with the shoes.

Second time around with these casual everyday shoes. Very comfortable and easy to pair with many casual outfits.

The shoe ran true to size for me. I like the style and feel that it offers good support. The leather on the pair I just bought seems a bit stiffer than the suede of the last pair I had but is still very comfortable.

I hoped to love these but they do not compare to the previous mesh ones. These do not have the arch support or the comfort of the mesh shoes. Also prefer mesh because I feel they would not be so hot as all leather. The sole on these also feel harder. After wearing the mesh shoes for years, cannot compromise with these shoes. Will return them.

These shoes are adorable, fashionable, AND comfortable! I love the athletic style. They have a fairly stiff and flat sole, which took a little time to get used to, but they seem to have decent arch support. I didn't have the trouble with the zippers that other reviewers mentioned. Overall, very happy with this shoe!

I am recovering from a cracked bone in my foot. I bought this shoe and also the Barrado. I have had 4 pair of this Merrill shoe, and cey everytime I wear the pair out. Love this shoe. Hope they never discontinue this style. Thank you Zappos for bring ing my favorite shoes to me!!! I am a senior citizen and have had dizzy spells off and on. The Merrill Barrado is my go to shoes for walking the dog, shopping,climbing, etc. They keep me safe!

I bought these for my skeptical fiancée after years of being a Merrell fan myself. He works in Construction Management and needs comfort, arch support, but also something appropriate for client meetings. I’m pleased to report that as soon as he put them on, he was won over. I did have to explain that part of the beauty of Merrell is how they customize with wear to one’s foot (much like the old Levi’s 501’s) He’s been wearing them all week and is highly satisfied. I’m happy he’s wearing something that will support his podiatric health, that also looks great!

I have been buying Merrells for a long time and find them to be a great shoe. This one is no exception. I bought it one half bigger to accommodate socks in the cooler weather. My only complaint is why did they have to print Merrell in bright white right down the middle of the shoe in front. Every time I look down I see the name. The only thing I can do is use a black marker and blacken it out. I have never had this problem with my other Merrells. Why now?

The toe space is too long and it does not have any arch support. The zipper is too tight for people with higher arches. All together, it is a nice pair of shoes, but feels like it is designed for long and 'flat' feet.

The shoes fit true to size. Since they are made from full grain leather they required breaking in. I was able to use a Kaps Ballerin 3/4 orthonic leather insole over the provided insole (they are quite thin) for additional metatarsal arch support. I wore them part of the day for about a week breaking them in. They are comfortable now that they are broken in but I do get a squeak on the right shoe when I walk. I'm trying various things for that such as leather lotion to soften the leather. I like the style but wish they were still made with suede. I had no problem with the zippers.

I've been wearing the regular Barrado for years, many pairs. It is the only shoe that is consistently supportive of my back. I can rely on them always to fit and be comfortable. Unfortunately the Barrado Luxe has to go back. It is very narrow and I'm not able to wear it at all.

Had to return these because I could hardly move the zipper up and down.

No inner soles, nothing to support the arch or foot. Very uncomfortable. Never before have I seen this in a shoe.

The soles are so thin that I can uncomfortably feel every small protrusion in the pavement. Also, I've high arches and the top feels pretty tight.

Wanted to love this shoe but when walking the top material cut into my shin. But a perfect shoe otherwise.

I ordered my usual Merrell size 10.5/42 but this shoe was just too large, overall. Not much padding anywhere. Would definitely need to wear socks. And it just wasn't very attractive on my feet. Am finding a lot of inconsistency in Merrell sizing lately, some of the styles are just coming out too big now. Disappointing.

Narrow toe box, comfortable sole, not very attractive shoe in the smooth black leather. Looks kind of orthopedic. Returned.

I am an 8.5 usually, i ordered a 9 in this shoe and could not get it on at all!!! They run at least 2 sizes small and are very narrow! I am VERY unhappy with a Merrill purchase for the first time in my life!!

This shoe was stiff and as one other reviewer said the zipper was a bit hard to work. I can't say too much as I was unable to get my foot into the shoe.

This was a second pair. It is extremely comfortable and looks good.

snug and tidy fit. use for working out in the gym (not running but elliptical and other equipment) and floor exercises and they're perfect. once we travel again they'll be the ideal lightweight packable gym shoes.

They fit beautifully. They are similar to, but not identical to, the two pairs I previously had. I hope they stand up as well - I've worn out the soles of the first pair, and the second pair is well on its way. They did slowly stretch out a little, but I wore them pretty much daily for years as a teacher - on my feet most of the day, walking (running!) to the train station, like that. They are the quintessence of flats, but they look nice, stay on well, I feel professional without feeling fussy in them. When I'm expecting the Superintendent - no, Then I wear heels. For everyday, long days - these are the go-to shoes.

I have a pair of the Merrel Barrdos already and so ordered the Luxe version because I liked the fact that they are leather. They are not nearly as comfortable out of the box as the others. Will take some breaking in. Other than that a great casual shoe.
