I was trying to decide whether to rebuy the Torin 3 before they disappear or go with the updated 3.5. First, Altra makes sone of the ugliest shoes around. My trainer laughed at me in these bright blue shoes. When I showed her the other color choices, she agreed that they are horrible. The 3.5s don’t fit the same and just didn’t feel right, especially at the back/ankle. For me, the Torins have always worn holes at the back of the shoe, giving me horrible blisters and rendering them useless in a few short months. Maybe they beefed up the padding back there, but they feel too high on the back of my foot. I am returning these and may try the other higher priced Torin 3.5 after my stash of 3s wears out.

I've been a loyal Altra fan for years now. I have bunions and flat narrow feet, so finding shoes that look cute and feel good is a challenge. CHALLENGE. Altras have wonderful space in the toe box and excellent cushioning. Some of the color choices can be a tad headache-inducing, so I usually stick to black or gray. I've been through well over a dozen of pairs and styles. I love them all. Within minutes of putting most other shoes on my feet, I'm in pain. Not with these. I can be on my feet all day through hiking, workouts, etc with no problems. I'm writing this review for the Torin 3.5 specifically. I sized up a half size, which was perfect. The cushioning is fantastic. I immediately bought a second pair for backup, and am considering a third (seriously).

I’ve bought this shoe several times and plan to buy a few more pairs before they are discontinued. Like most have noted, you should go for a full size larger than normal. Love these shoes!

I have been in Altras for a number of years now as I need a zero drop. The past three years I have used the Escalante, but switched to the Torin 3.5 for more cushioning to counter ball-of-the-foot wear and tear issues. I would agree with other reviewers that the shoe runs a little small. The size 7 Torin 3.5 felt a little smaller than the size 7 Escalante. In Clarks and Born, I wear a 6.5.
I find the laces irritating. My brain has not re-wired to figure out how to easily loosen or tighten the laces. I usually immediately take off a running shoe's laces and substitute easy laces (for triathlons and sheer laziness for daily life), but these don't seem designed for that. I haven't tried though. It could be possible.
For running, they seem just fine. They accommodate orthotics (loosen those laces). I put in two 5 mile runs and a 12 mile run and the difference between the Escalante and the Torin didn't jump out at me. I'll say that the Escalante seemed to wear quickly (based on the tread); hopefully the Torin 3.5 will hold up better.
Wish they had better colors for women. Not sure why they have both mesh and fabric for the same shoe. Go for the mesh. Happy running.

I've worn several Torins over the year and noticed I was pronating more. I will return and look for another style that provides the forefoot comfort as well as support for my instep. Lacing design on this shoe has an extra component I found difficult to use. Based on reviews I ordered 1/2 size larger but needed to stay with my usual Altra size. Extra cushioning around foot and ankle makes it feel like a fit until you push feet back into shoe heel.

I walk 3 miles on asphalt and loose dirt every day with my German Shep dogs and love the foot shape of the toe box and how my toes aren't getting crunched anymore, i used to wear nike, never again.

Awesome shoes. I used the run in Brooke's all the time and now I'm obsessed with these. I've had an ACL repair & stress fracture in my lumbar region so running has become difficult as I excel to longer distances and faster times. These shoes have minimized the amount of pressure I feel in my back & knees while I'm running. I'm 23 years old and can say I won't run in another shoe ever again.

On my 3rd pair of this exact shoe. LOVE the Torins! I like these slightly better then the Torin knits because they seem to have a little more structure. Wore these in a 62k race on crushed gravel and they held up great!

This version of the Torin is my favorite Altra road shoe since the old Intuition/Instinct 2.0. The new mesh upper is snug and secure, while still leaving enough room in the toe box for my toes to spread out. My feet don't slide around in these like they did in previous versions of the Torin. The lacing pattern is interesting, but after using it for awhile, I like it. The sole is soft and flexible, just what I expect from a high cushioned Altra shoe.

I was excited to see Altra offering colors other than pink, purple, baby blue, or even worse, a combination of these colors. Now onto fit...Most shoes leave me crying on the side of the road in the fetal position because of how uncomfortable they are. These shoes provide plenty of support and extra toe space for people with hobbit feet like me. These shoes make me feel like the runner version of Michael Phelps. Thank you Altra!

Love the wide toe box and the cushy sole, but wish there were some arch support. I ordered a half size up and that worked well. The lacing system is strange, with little tabs that lock your laces in and make it hard to get the shoe on. I stopped using those tabs, but then the laces were too long, so I have elastic laces in.

I ordered up a half size based on other comments and that worked for me. Love the squishy outsoles but wish there was better arch support inside. As others have mentioned the lacing system is odd and makes it hard to get the shoe on. The lacing tabs act like locks, preventing the tongue from opening enough. I finally abandoned those tabs, but then the laces were too long. Now I'm using some elastic laces.

I have Mortons Neuroma in my feet and I work in retail with many long hours. With these shoes, I feel like I'm walking on a cloud. The open toe box and zero drop is essential for my comfort. I bought a half size bigger than what I normally wear and it's a perfect fit. Highly recommended if you are on your feet all day!!! I wear them until they are worn out. Lol Will continue to purchase these great Torino 3.5 Women's Altra shoes. I got the gray/black ones this past Christmas. You won't be disappointed!!

These shoes are light weight, very cushy and breath!
My feet are very small, so finding shoes that aren't too long, is a huge challenge, and becoming a REAL problem! Thank you Altra for going a bit small on this style!
I don't usually even look at shoes size 5.5, because they are too big most of the time. These 5.5 are a tiny bit too big and a tad too wide. But easily fixed in my usual way, by adding a thicker or extra inserts in the shoes.
I haven't had the 3.5 Torins long enough to say how well they hold up. I can say I'm still wearing 1 of my pairs of Torin 2.5 almost every day. They don't have any holes or failing seams. The soles are worn down to just about no tread and they aren't as cushy as they used to be, which was why I got new ones!
Now I can retire the old ones and enjoy my new Torins!

I have really bad knees and haven't been able to find anything that is comfortable for me to run in. I was having trouble with my knees after running 15mi or so a week. Found these and my life has changed. Once you go Altra, you can't go back! Slowly moving the rest of my sneakers to these. Will buy every edition, I am on my second!

I wear these walking and running, other cardio workouts, outside and inside. On the trail and playing b-ball too. These shoes saved my feet. I've been suffering forever from plantar fasciitis and coming off a fusion surgery to correct a bunion in January. It's been a painful year of recovery until I found these babies. I also wear these to work and for everyday. Only negative thing I have to say about them is that they seem to be made of material that can wear down pretty quick , especially if you do a lot of road running. But these are so perfectly squishy and supportive at the same time, my plantar fasciitis pain no longer exists. Thank you Altra

Being new to the Altra brand, I bought the Intuition 4.5 and Torin 3.5.
My preference is Torin. It has more cushion, which is nice, but the selling point was how it perfectly molded to my feet. It fits differently than other running shoes. The material extends closer to my ankles, which requires me to unlace the shoe to get in on/off.
The toebox is very roomy and wider than the Intuition. The shoe looks bigger than Intuition. I prefer the material of the Torin which seems more durable with less knit/mesh. I'm not a fan of the knit material since I run on sand and sometimes in rain.
My first run in Torin was 4 miles, no issues. I was a little tired towards the end, due to muscles adapting to the zero-drop. I didn't find them to be too big or bulky to run in. They felt great on road and sand. I'll definitely try other Altra models so I can have two alternating Altra's. Torin is now my #1 pick.
I typically wear a 9 in running shoes and I ordered a 9.5 in these, which is perfect.
I'd also recommend:

I have worn different styles of Altra footwear. These are by far my favorites. Like putting on a pair of slippers.

I’m new to the “zero drop” world; these are amazing! It took me a few days to get used to the but I love them. Very comfortable, very supportive, and strangely very quiet. Definitely order a full size larger! Enjoy!

These sneakers gave me my life back. I have always been a walker but once I developed neuroma, I couldn't walk due to the pain. I tried every sneaker imaginable, including wide widths, but nothing worked. I got cortisone shots and orthodics, all to no avail. Now that I have these sneakers, I am able to walk miles without pain! I am so happy; over the past two years I gained 40 lbs thanks to my neuroma but now that I have these sneakers, I am back to walking and taking off the lbs. I am so happy and so grateful to this company. Thank you for giving me my life back!! I will buy a couple more pair to make sure that I always have them. They are worth every dollar!!!

After well over 500 miles on my old Torins I decided to upgrade. I've never been happier. These new torins are super responsive, the new heel fit is incredible, and the extra cushioning is so perfect for those long run days. Went with the Black option and have had several compliments already. Love them!

These were comfortable and required no break in and the uppers have been fairly durable. My only small gripe is with the durability of the midsole. I'm a heavier gal and I put a TON of miles on my shoes so I generally only expect them to last about 3 months anyway, however these started losing cushion in 2 months. While they were supporting me I loved them, but at almost exactly 2 months I started noticing the characteristic knee and shin pain that always tells me my midsole is starting to compress. Not quite as long as I'd have liked to get out of them, but I'm still happy.

I started wearing the intuition 2 and loved the feel of the goofy looking shoes, then I was not impressed with the intuition 3 so I tried the Torin 2.5 and was pretty happy , then tried the 3 and it was sized smaller and narrower. I in the end have Altras all over. But I tried the white Torin 3.5 and aside from the fact that they absorbed the muddy water I ended up walking thru ( turned a brown off white color) they are the best fitting of all of them on my weird bony feet. I have no issues with my bunions or my plantar fasciitis. The only negative I can say is the softer material on the outside toe portion of the sole, it wears out faster than the rest of the sole. I bought the last two pairs after the sizes started selling out so my first pair are my normal 9.5 and the last 2 are 10s. When I first got the 9.5 I did think they were running small but didn't cause my toes to be irritated in any way but the 10s are just a smidge bigger and fit just fine. I wear them every where and only walk no running. But they are life savers for me. I usually wait till the shoes are on sale because of the price but I have bought them at full price when needed. I was having all sort of foot problems before these shoes. I am very happy. Still would love for them to bring back the intuition 2 style, got used to looking at my toddler clown feet.
