These are like walking on clouds. I need to go with a 17 in a Nike to get enough room for my toes to splay. In these I am fine in a 16 due to the properly shaped toe box. The overall shape of these is almost identical to my Keen Austins, also a size 16. Love em. Planning to get some more.
I'd also recommend:

My husband is sold on this shoe. He runs 5-10k every day and is on his feet for work. He now ends his runs with more energy and less leg fatigue, because of the zero drop. He sized up for this brand. He wears a 10.5 for most runners (Brooks, Karhu) for Altra the 11 fits. The shoe looks huge because of the wider toe box, but works for him on road and sand. I like the roomy toe box design and will give them a try.

My feet measure 121/2’’ but wear a 13’’. Ordered a 13’’ but certain toes on right foot hit the front just standing. Would try a 13 1/2 if available but looks like a 14’’ will have to do.

I had a difficult time finding a comfortable shoe size. After reading the reviews, I started with my normal size (size 10) and it was too tight and too narrow (especially around the midfoot area). Went up half a size and it felt pretty good but the midfoot area continued to feel too narrow (got a few blisters on the arches of my feet) and the length was slightly too short. Lastly went up a full size and it felt okay but not great. The shoes felt too wide and slightly too long. No blisters but the midfoot continued to be a challenge despite my efforts of trying to keep the laces loose. These shoes do provide lot of cushion to keep those knees and feet feeling happy but it's challenging to find a good balance with the sizing and the narrow midfoot area because of the new lacing system Altra designed with these shoes. It always left the midfoot feeling very narrow and squished no matter the size of the shoe. It also seemed these shoes were very heavy for a road shoe and the tops of the shoes came up too high kind of reminding me of basketball shoes. I really did love the grey and neon yellow color and wished the women's line had more colorful choices like this. Overall, despite my effort trying to make these shoes work they just didn't fit the bill and left my feet feeling heavy and my midfoot feeling squished causing numb toes and blisters on my arches.

Altra tops my list for everyday wear and especially at the gym. The wide toe box and zero drop have not been embraced by many other companies. So excited to find alternate color choices in my design of choice!

This is my 4th pair of Torin's. I love them. They are so comfortable and very easy to break in when new.

If you have Morton's Neuroma from running, these shoes are fabulous. Once adapted to zero drop shoes, these are truly great shoes with a wide, natural toe box. Would give six stars if possible.

I had been using the Altra One for years (which i liked, but the sides would blow out often) then switched to the knit Escalantes. unfortunately i found the fit on that shoe to be a bit too sloppy laterally. after reading reviews of this shoe, made the jump and have been very very pleased. They are extremely light feeling on the feet, have all the benefits of minimalism w/r/t to zero drop and toe space, but with enough cushioning for a larger runner like myself (5'11", 200lbs). dont' change this shoe. and make a trail version! (if there already is one, please let me know which model!)

I really liked the natural footshape of the Altras. They are very light weight with good build quality. The lacing systems makes it a little difficault to get into especially getting the heel in but that is minor. Most of all the buying experience with Zappo was fantastic. I will highly recommend them to friends. Craig

This is my second pair. I absolutely love these shoes. So many of the major shoes I’ve worn for years have narrow toe boxes which gives me toe rubbing problems. The shape of these shoes solves my problem. Plus, they are extremely comfortable.

These are my first Altras and first zero drop running shoes. I'm only 4 runs in, but thumbs up on all fronts. The ride on the Torin is plush and comfortable. My calves and achilles have been a little sore after the first few runs, but already improving after run #4. I suspect that'll be gone soon once the legs adjust to the slightly different running style. Very happy so far.

I had a pair of Altra Sampsons years ago that I wore til they fell apart. Since then Altra hasn't been making much in a 16. I gave these a try and am sooo glad I did. Super comfortable. Like walking on clouds. I found these fit true to size. I put them next to a size 16 Keen Austin and they are almost identical in shape, and fit very similarly. I hope Altra keeps up the great work and makes more size 16s. Peace!

These are the first pair of Altras that I have purchased. I debated between the mesh and the knit version. After reading some other reviews I decided to go with the mesh version. I chose the mesh version due to the extra padding in the tongue(I have long thinner feet). It took me about 25-30 miles before my achilles finally gave in to the zero drop and I haven't looked back. The one downside with the mesh is they do get hot when it's a warm run. I have over 200 miles on my Torin 3.5s and they still feel like the first time I put them on! I look forward to trying other Altras in the future.

LOOOOOVE these running shoes - absolutely ecstatic. Been running for 40+ years, never had a shoe so EXTREMELY cushioned, so perfectly shaped in the toe box to be both snug and roomy at the same time, love the chunky look of the shoe (I've got the black with neon-yellow lightning bolts.) But most of all, love what these shoes do for my joints - I've got serious hip, knee, ankle osteoarthritis (I shouldn't be running, I know) so shoes REALLY super matter for me; shoes make all the difference between pain or even disability - or - a comfortable, supported, healthy-alignment, muscle/joint-loving run. I love them, can't say enough. I'd wear them to bed if my husband didn't object lol. THANK YOU ALTRA! AND ZAPPOS!

I've been running in Torins since version 1.0 and I can honestly say this is the best version yet. By far! The integrated tongue gives my foot a perfect fit bear hug so I didn't spend ANY time locking in my laces. Simply amazing! The heel lock is tons better too. Just a really great update to an already great shoe. I run 5k to marathons in Torins averaging about 1100 miles a year. I'm not your typical runner's build at 185lbs yet I find them to be the Goldilocks fit for me.Highly recommended!

My 1st pair of Altra shoes, like the big toe area the most. Next is the weight, like wearing nothing on my feet. The cushioning inside is great, an the sole is spongy too. I stand on concrete all day, these are holding up really good.

I had heard really good things about Altra, and especially the new Torin 3.5. Their wide toe-box is no joke, and I don't think my feet have ever been this comfortable in a running shoe. These shoes do come in two styles, a knit and the mesh. The knit was said to run a little hot, so be wary of that. I feel like I could run forever in these shoes and you are doing yourself a disservice by not at least giving these shoes a try.

I wanted to get some mileage on these before leaving a review. After 50 miles i can say I love these shoes! I have been through several shoe brands trying to find what my feet liked. The Torin 3.5 is that shoe. Extremely comfortable and move with your foot.

Tried on 2 pair to get the right size. After Bloomsday I determined that I needed these a bit bigger, unfortunately I lost my receipt. I found someone to buy my used ones and will buy another 1/2 size bigger. They are that comfortable that I'm willing to pay for a second pair!

The Torin 3.5 is my 2nd favorite road shoe ever (the first is Escalante, hard to beat :)). The new lacing system supports a glove-like fit and the stack height/sole material delivers a soft, smoth ride. Fresh out of the box, they helped support a half-marathon PR--there aren't too many shoes I would've rolled the dice with there and won...

I started with too little cushion when switched to zero drop, and my Achilles was getting lit up. The medium cushion of the Instinct just wasn't enough for my screwed up feet and shortened heel cord. After switching to the new Torin, the inflammation is more or less gone but mileage and pace are up.This shoe is wide and stable with a locked down heel, lightyears away from the slippery Instinct. The "Inner Flex" feature gives it quite a bit of rebound too. Tread is slightly more significant than previous footpad designs, and the look of the shoe is much better in person. I think Altra is addressing the flaws that customers noticed in some of the older designs and really hit a homerun with this new Torin.

I had the 2.5 and loved it, my only concerns were durability. The 3.5.... wow. My one and only gripe is the traction could be more durable for wet conditions. Other than that, the perfect shoe. Near PR 5k, PR half marathon, and PR marathon. All in the same shoe. It gives superb support, never feels heavy, and is enough balance between responsive and cushion that it really is a do-it-all shoe, anywhere from trying to PR a 5k to surviving a 100 mile trail race. logged a ton of miles in them (maybe 400 or 500 now?), and except for the tread being beat to submission, the shoe itself is fine. No tears in the upper, heel cup only began to show signs of wear less than a month ago. The exposed EVA foam isn't the issue with tread - it's the rubber itself. It holds its own for the first one to two hundred miles, but when worn down after is extremely slippery in anything wet. Fix that issue..... and you've got the perfect shoe. So Altra, please please please, in the update, only change the tread and the color options. The rest is already perfect!

This is my third pair of ultras. Second pair of torins they are my favorite running shoes. I did try another brand between my torins. Deffinetly like the ultras better. I love most of the upgrades to the 3.5s. But one big disappointment is the heal tab. After about 3 miles into a long run it starts rubbing and causes blisters. I really hope they fix this before the next version.

I love these shoes, they are the first shoes I've found that keep my ankle from turning outward (supinating or underpronating) so I've been able to walk longer distances again. I wish they had a thicker sole like the Olympus though. I will say that Altra seems to be shrinking the width of their shoes, I had to buy mens to get a wider fit, the women shoes are just to narrow and I'm still trying to decide if I need to buy a 1/2 size larger in the mens version.
