After reading some of the reviews I was skeptical about buying these boots, but I'm glad I did. When I pulled them out of the box, the leather did feel a little stiff and I was concerned that there would be a break-in period. I wore them all day the day after I received them and didn't get one blister. As a matter of fact, at the end of the day I realized nothing hurt. So pleasantly surprised is an understatement. I'm so glad I stuck with my knowledge that I've never had an uncomfortable Born boot and bought these boots. They're great and I love them!

I love the quality and padding in the construction but didn’t really like the cowboy boot look and the leather will be easily scuffed. The strap on the back of one boot was stretched out.

Unfortunately these have a very very wide calf with a huge gap:( won’t work :(

I originally sized up, bought an 8 1/2, instead of 8 based on reviews. They felt ok, a little big in the heel. I wore them once and the zipper separated. It turns out they were defective. Zappos customer service was awesome and took them back easy-peasy. They didn’t have an 8 1/2 so I tried the 8 and I love them even more. The ankle is wider than some of my other born boots, but that’s no big deal. The leather is some of the best quality that I’ve bought in a boot. I have wide calves (over 15.5 inches) and often can’t get a knee high boot zipped, but with a little tug on the zipper they went up.

I just wanted to chime in on these because the reviews were so mixed. These indeed felt slippery when I first tried them on but as I wore them, this passed. Not sure if there was some sort of residue on the sole making them slippery? Anyway 1 month later, the only part of the sole that is still a bit slippery is the heel. So I am not wearing them if it's super icy out, but have worn them in regular snow and they are fine. I really like the more rustic look of these boots, definitely a more fun boot than your standard riding boots. These do not have a warm lining so I have been wearing wool socks, and that's worked well. Very comfortable, like most Born shoes. These are my favorite boots now!

The leather is amazing quality- so soft and smells amazing. Putting this on is like slipping a glove onto your foot- the comfort is like no other boot I own!

I thought it was comfortable but it looked too distressed right out of the box. I wanted something newer looking. 5’3” and the height of the boot was good and not too wide in the circumference.

I loved these but the calf was smaller than advertised, I have another pair of boots with a smaller calf and they fit perfectly. Disappointed because I really wanted to love them!

Beautiful boots! But something strange has happened to women's boot sizes since I bought my last pair of Borns about three years ago. My feet are still a size 9 like I was then. And those older size 9 boots still fit fine. I bought these 9.5 as an exchange for the size 9 of this same brand and style that did not fit. But these size 9.5 are still too small--I could get my feet inside but they didn't want to stay there--too cramped. They're almost half an inch shorter than my old Born size 9 boots. Finally, I got the 10s and they fit. This is crazy! The exact same size problems happened with the Timberland Banfields.

Nice quality boots made in Mexico. I wanted to love them when I opened the box. But they were a little narrow for me and a bit too wide in the calf, so I am returning.

I liked these but they were too big. The buckle at the top is adjustable - I tightened it all the way and that helped the calf area from being too big on me but my feet were swimming in them. I have a narrow-ish foot with a high arch. Ordered a 9 but an 8.5 would've been better. These seemed slightly big in the ankles too, the leather bunched up there in a strange way and I wondered if it would be uncomfortable over time. On the right boot at the top of the calf in the front there was a fairly large scuff mark on the leather that looked sort of like a defect. Otherwise, I thought they were very cute and the foot bed was quite comfortable. The color was accurate to the pic.

Ordered two Born boots same size and similar style. This one was smaller and tighter - I returned it.

Shaft was too long; I am finding that there are a lot of 'fit' details you need to know to get a boot to fit property. In addition, the boots just looked too clunky on my feet; I was looking for something more streamlined. Nice boot if you want a chunkier looking boot. Unfortunately I must return. Three stars on comfort because I didn't have a chance to wear them long enough to find out. The true test of comfort is being able to wear them at work all day.

Wider calf/ankle than expected. The ankle was super wide for me and they made me feel sloppy. My ankles are on the smaller side and I purchase a pair of born boots that fit perfectly and these looked like they would fit the same way. However.... They were very comfortable! The leather felt like it would break in well but wasn’t too tight on my high arches. I would have kept them just for walking the dog but I already have a similar fitting pair.

Zipper get's stuck on the seam by the ankle. Not great quality. My toes were too scrunched so back they go. Need more room in the toe box so I can wiggle my little piggies.

I love Born boots and these are beautiful. I love the color and how high they are, just below the knee. They are a bit stiff and wide around the ankles, but I think that will break in eventually. They aren't as comfortable out of the box as my other Born boots though. The biggest issue for me is that unlike other Born boots, the soles are not as rubbery and so they are slippery. I hate that. I haven't wiped out yet but I am a little concerned it could happen.

I have slim calves and these were definitely too big.

The shoe was too small, and the quality was terrible. You could see were the leather was sloppily trimmed where it was sown to the footbed and the zipper would stick. I couldn't even close the zipper after removing the boot. Will be returning.

This is the third pair of boots I have tried. I don't think I have big calves, but apparently I do because even the wide ones don't fit :0( I really liked this style, but unfortunately they are going back too. Also, the zipper on this pair doesn't care to zip.
