Everyone needs to know that these shoes are not supposed to have support and built-in archs - They are BAREFOOT style shoes! When you're wearing them, you really do feel like your feet are connected to the ground and that you are in control of your motion. Yes, you do have to be careful of rocks because the soles are minimal as described. VAPOR GLOVE is a good description. Also, the bottoms wear very well. I love these shoes and am looking forward to getting these in leather. Glad they are finally offering them in all black and leather so they can fit in better with regular casual wear and not look overly sporty. Now, if you want some support, Merrell has Bare Access line which is zero-drop but has an arch and more substantial sole and upper, but not too much - (except for me, the arch is too much), and then they also have models with more cushioning and a few mm of heel height. After wearing barefoot shoes and having a more natural posture, you will find regular style gymshoes with greater heel-toe differential to feel as though they are pushing you forward and off balance and be surprised you never realized.

Gave my husband a pair of the black cotton Vapor Glove Luna's a few years ago, and he loves them. They have worn well, but he needed a new pair so I ordered him both a cotton pair and a leather pair. I liked the look of the black leather, but it really is more of a suede finish which my husband thought would look bad too quickly. He did keep the cotton pair and actually prefers the dusty olive color to the black cotton.

I bought these for my son because he likes minimalist shoes. He always wears a size 11, however these had too much room in the toe so we ordered a 10.5. Those were also too long and we ordered a size 10. He kept the size 10s but he said that he could have still gone down to a 9 1/2 ! One caveat is that his feet are on the narrow side so maybe someone with a wide foot would need more toe room. Great shoes, but they run long.

My husband has just discovered this shoe and loves it. Trying to learn barefoot walking to help his back and neck pain. It runs roomy enough in the footbed to comfortably accommodate his usually 10W foot. Nice style, good quality suede, light color will blend with khaki pants etc for summer. We will try to replace the laces for a color that blends in better.

The fit was perfect. The shoes are very comfortable and I am already wearing them more than expected because of the comfort.

I like to wear minimalist shoes, but these have no arch support or cushioning to speak of, so if you need that these are not the shoes for you. I like the wider toe box. I hate having my toes crammed together. I have the vapor glove running shoes but they have a mesh top to help keep your feet cool while running. I wanted the same fit, but wanted the leather top to keep my foot dry in the winter rain. This fit the bill, and are stylish. I've gotten compliments on them.

These shoes are a dream! I'm 66 years old and these shoes make me feel as groggy as a teenager. They provide a marvelous feel for the ground, are super lightweight and are more comfortable than bedroom slippers.

It's a Vapor Glove 3; if you use them for running, you know exactly what you're getting. The difference is that this is a less "sporty" style that can be comfortably and confidently worn in casual environments. The fit is consistent with other Merrell shoes - just in case, I ordered a half-size down in addition to this one based on other reviews saying they could wear a smaller size in the Luna Leather, and found the concern unnecessary. As it's a barefoot-style shoe, the wearer needs to take care of sharp ground protrusions; there's no padding. But the shoe is comfortable, and even with the leather upper the shoe breathes well. It would probably behoove the buyer to also pick up some sort of leather protector, otherwise the real world has the potential do ruin the otherwise very nice shoes (water, mud, etc.). They're definitely best for indoor or short, clean city-wear. Couldn't ask for more, really.

Great minimalist shoes that are somewhat stylish for wearing around town/informal work attire. Not as good as the old Tough Glove on all accounts. These are simple leather uppers (YES!) with a bit of lining around the opening only, and a sole that for me has a good balance between a very slight bit of cushion (for walking on concrete--let's face it, not a "natural" condition) and ground feel. Still, they are pretty thin, and the sole has good grip on concrete. I feel spry but also comfortable enough to teach class (I don't like to dress up). I liked the dark brown leather upper and the sole of the tough glove better, but alas these are a decent stand-in, when the other option is no stand-in at all, as Merrell had abandoned every-day wear minimalist shoes for some time. At this moment there are very few other minimalist options that fit this specific niche. Comfortable, the left shoe made a clicking noise every time I stepped for about 1.5 weeks until the leather broke in. This is (suedesque) nubuck leather, as opposed to the slick and surprisingly water resistant full grain leather on the old Tough Glove.

I have EIGHT (yes, 8) pairs of this shoe in 11M, but WOMEN’s! I have them in every color combination. For this particular order, I mistakenly ordered the men’s 11, so this review is actually for the shoe in general. My foot is quite narrow, and these shoes have a roomy toe box, but allow me to synch the laces across my high arch. Also worth noting is that I have hard inserts which fit just fine. It seems to me that the soles are thicker today than in my first pairs a couple of years ago, which makes them comfortable now to wear on my walks around the neighborhood. (My only comment is that I would love a RED pair!)

I really like these shoes for around the house and running errands. They are my go to run-around shoes. However, they are “Barefoot”-style shoes. They don’t have any arch support. They are very much like a glove. If you like barefoot-style shoes, you will love these. If need to have significant arch support in your shoes...you probably should look elsewhere. But these are the holy grail for a casual, barefoot-style shoe that can be worn out and not look out of place.

I love these shoes. I’ve been a fan of vapor gloves for several years, but my last pair purchased in November lost some traction after daily work use, causing me to slip on some wet pavement. These have a different sole pattern, so more teeth, and the sueded leather upper takes it down from sporty into more sleek minimalist.

Look great and comfortable. I wear them from the office to the street to the gym and they just work. I get compliments asking what they are and how light/ comfortable they look. Tru to size if you use European size chart. I had to order 1/2 size smaller than my US size. I just might buy every color

I use as slip on/off casual no sox in hot weather shoes for protection of real bare feet and not for long walks or standing. I got 1 size extra large for comfort and added a Dr Scholls insert for added cushion. Fits my needs perfectly. This is my second pair.

Ultimately, do not buy these if you're looking for a cushy shoe with arch support - these are meant to be flat, thin soled, zero drop shoes, and that's exactly what they are! Perfect! I wear barefoot shoes exclusively, and Merrell Vapor Gloves have been among my favorite shoes since they first introduced the Vapor Gloves years ago. I wore through two pairs over the years (I walk 100+ miles on sidewalks a month), and it was time to buy a new pair. Then I discovered this leather version! I was so thrilled. I loved my old mesh-topped pairs, but the last one wore out on both top and bottom, and the mesh upper was too informal. The black leather upper is perfect for work and cooler weather. I love the wide toe box and simple design. I normally wear a 40 (Women's 9, Men's 7) and the 40 in these fit perfectly. Although I am female, I opted for the men's version of this shoe because the sole on the women's version is a hideous brown. The grey sole on these is far better.

I bought these to compliment my pair of "normal" Vapor Gloves. I love those shoes, but they look like athletic shoes. These look more casual, pairing great with jeans. The fit is the same, requiring no break in to feel like an extension of my foot. I'll keep buying these as long as Merrell makes them!

I wear US Men's 11 and still own a pair of Vapor Glove 2s in that size. They were always a smidge too large. Ordered 10.5 instead this time as recommended by others in the comments, and they fit perfectly. I love the Vapor Glove 2s, but wanted something with an upper that lasted longer. I've previously owned Inov8 and Vivo Barefoots and enjoyed them, but the soles on the Vapor Gloves are much more grippy on slick surfaces, and the toebox is way more durable. I wouldn't recommend doing any rope climbing in these vs., the Inov8s, however. Initial quality seems good, not a single defect is visible though time will tell on how well they hold up. I generally work in an office environment, but sometimes volunteer in a kitchen, so that will be a nice test. I'll provide updates as necessary time goes on. If you're on the fence about trying barefoot shoes, I feel these are a nice introduction. They're not as fragile feeling as Vivos and less wild looking vs. Inov8s (if you do climbing however, buy the Inov8s). Their soles aren't too thin vs. others' designs, though you will still have to watch for smaller stones as your feet toughen up. They will definitely encourage the development of stronger ankles, feet and calves since your feet aren't basically in a splint as with regular shoes. If you switch to regular shoes for a while and come back, you will feel your body have to adjust and compensate as your muscles get used to working harder again - which is a good thing.

I was looking for a solid black flexible barefoot type shoe to wear to work. Couldn't find black in women's so I needed a size 7 in Men's. This was the only place I could get this size. The size is perfect and they are very flexible - just what I was looking for. These shoes offer no support - they are meant for minimalist who are looking to improve strength and flexibility in feet. The only con to these is the price.

I usually wear 8.5 on my casual shoes. It is a good fit with a little wiggle room. I went for size 8 with this and it was perfect! I love the way they look and my feet and I see people checking them out when I wore it at the gym this morning. Will be getting one more pair in a different color.
