I'm 6'2" and 170# and wear a 40L suit. I tried sizes medium and large; the medium fits perfectly, with adequately long sleeves and enough chest room to layer something underneath if you must. Center back length appropriate for my medium tall frame. Beautiful nearly bombproof piece, good for 40F to -10F.

This is one of the most comfortable hoodies I've ever worn. 5'10" 170 pounds and medium is a perfect fit.

i think this is the best jacket ever. before i bought this jacket i was going through a winter jacket every 2-3 years because i couldn't find anything i liked or could keep me warm. i heard extremely good reviews on arcteryx and their products so i looked at them and believe it or not i bought mine because it had the black outside and that dark red inside. once i got it i fell in love with it. i use it every day in canada weather it be going to the mountains to just going to the mall or grocery store. its super warm and i have had it now going on 4 years and it looks and performs as new. BEST JACKET EVER! Highly recommend it!

The best jacket ever, I have tried a lot of different jackets but this is by far the best invest ever. Other jackets are big and clumsy, but the Macai is sporty look, amazing fit, and warm. The materials are amazing and feels like you are getting a hug when you wear it. The details of this jacket speaks for itself. Buy it and try it, you won't regret it.

I totally love this jacket. It's incredibly warm and the combination of down and Gore-Tex is excellent. What I love most about this jacket is the fit/comfort. It honestly fits like a glove. I'm 5'7", medium build and I bought a small. I absolutely love it.

Purchased this jacket last season and haven't looked back. My first Arc'teryx product and now completely converted. A highly versatile, all-in-one winter jacket solution for an array of activities. Hailing from the Canadian Prairies, this piece stands up to our harsh winters. Highly recommended, and a product that has positively contributed to my personal well-being. Thanks Arc'teryx!

I have only tried this jacket on one day during blizzard conditions. Temperatures were about 20F with 55MPH gusts. The resort (mammoth) was in the process of closing down due to dangerous conditions. Visibility was maybe 10-20 feet before you lose track of the person you are following. I was only wearing a next-to-skin base layer with this jacket. While on the lift, I was very comfortable at the beginning (due to heat retention) but a little cold towards the end of the lift. While snowboarding, i was HOT, HOT, HOT!! This is probably the biggest pro (or con). You're going to be hot anytime the temperature is above ~30F. If you want to be nice and toasty during high output activities then this is your perfect jacket. It is really nice to have a single jacket and not worry about wearing multiple layers. Go with a less insulated jacket if you don't like feeling this way. Wind blocking was amazing! As warm as this jacket is, it does not restrict movement. I wore the hood over a helmet and forgotten about it. The hood configuration really turns with your head. You really don't even notice it. Chest pocket is incredibly small. I couldn't figure out what I would use it for. Length is perfect. I have no regrets with it's length (vs the Fissile). I also have the Theta AR to compare to.

This pretty much ticks all the boxes for a resort jacket for all but the warmest of days, enough room for a mid on the coldest of days and keeps the snow out on the miserable days. Had a few black run disasters and the only damage has been to my pride! ;-) Super hard wearing. I would question the chest pockets as I haven't found a use for them and would have liked to see the Slide'n Loc on this and the Chilkoot pants I'm also in a quandary about the sizes, I'm 5'-10" got a genuine 33" waist and a 46" chest. According to the size chart I should wear an extra large. I realise there is supposed to be room for layering but an extra large is like a dress with room for both me and my wife! I also realise I'm a little out of proportion but to get the body and arm length right I've gone with a medium with it only feeling a little snug across the back when wearing a mid layer.

I think it is too expensive, but I love it and find myself wearing it all the time between October and May in the midwest. Soft inside, great over a tee. I've used it under a shell on winter men bike rides and hikes, it works great. Great athletic/regulate fit, 5'9" 160 medium is great. inside hood around chin is a more durable layer that won't pill. Hand warmer pocket has a mesh back, things tend to stay in the pocket vs falling out. It has been a go to item.

I sold my Canada Goose jacket for the Macai, and I couldn't have made a better decision. Although the Canada Goose was warm, it was bulky and the model I had did not have adjustable cuffs. The macai jacket is sleek, giving you a more form fitting appearance and has adjustable wrist cuffs, which I like. I used to sit by the lake in the dead of winter, even throughout blizzards, smoking a cigar by the water with only a tshirt on under this jacket, and was quite warm. Great wind protection. It was worth the price.

This Jacket has been put through several trials..I've hiked with this jacket in -5 F -15 F(with windchill) and at first ,It doesn't give you the impression it will keep you entirely warm on the count that its very light..but looks are truly deceiving this time around. It was so warm ( wearing only a thin base layer)that I had to zip down the jackets-under arm zips and front zips from time to time. There are absolutely no cold spots...The down seems to be very well distributed- although very minimum..the frigid cold does not penetrate. If you are active in this Jacket, you will not feel the wraith of the elements I guarantee it ,but if your just idling ,standing still ( lets say) the cold will eventually creep upon you. This jacket designed was not meant for scientist stationed in Antarctica or pipeline oil workers in Alaska in mind.. Truth be told..But it will definitely keep you warm out doors with 200-gram-300 gram Fleece well below -20 F. One recommendation to the design team who has done amazing job with the engineering of this jacket..:Definitely increase the down fill weight to several more oz.

I'm an expert level skier who recently moved to Calgary during a night below -30 and needed something fast. This jacket stood out for its versatility and functionality. I'm not the biggest fan of layering, either. I am between a M & L due to my chest - just over 180lbs at 5'11 with an athletic build. This seems to be a rather common issue with the jacket. Tight on the chest and too too baggy on the waistline. That said, I got the large and I do love it. I wish I could tapper it a bit. Skiing: Beautiful and ergonomic. I forget I have the thing on. The outer chest pocket could be larger so that it has more functions. Might also put it on both sides of the jacket - looked like it did initially and that threw me off. When putting the hood over a helmet the jacket pulls up quite a bit and this creates pressure on my head when I wear my backpack in the back country. 24/7 work: The black keeps it looking professional in the banking industry and the red adds a touch of character - honestly, we do need to wear less black and trench coats. If you need to block wind and keep warm without the concern of the feathers getting wet then this is a beauty. A nice small package for its punch and I do not think another jacket rivals this yet. Canadian Goose does give some more warmth, but you lose ergonomics, tighter and classier fit, and it is vulnerable in wet conditions. Can: Warmth said, you could add some more stylish/hidden vents to help dump heat. Where Calgary is changing its mind on weather every day it is easy to be wearing this jacket when it jumps to a warmer temperature. Some fur on the hood - even synthetic- would be classy and help keep the face warm. I do travel this world quite a bit and will look forward to abusing it. Thank you for making Skiing and life in the Calgary cold comfortable.

I was looking for a jacket that was going to be warm, relatively lightweight, and just looked really cool (love the Aruna colour!). Likes: - Great fit, I'm 5'10", 180lbs with an athletic body type. I tried a medium and large, an in between size would've been perfect but I am very happy with the large I went with. - Pit-zip is a must have feature for me since I tend to overheat. - The adjustable hood is perfect. I sized it up so that it fit my head snug, perfect for those windy days. The brim is a nice touch too. - Perfect length, cutting off just below my bum. Good for keeping warm but not feeling like a parka. Suggestions: - Removable hood - Storm cuffs - More pockets, larger chest pocket - Inside pocket design to accommodate headphone cords - Smoother zippers for the pit-zip. While wearing the jacket I can easily unzip the pit-zip halfway before I need to skillfully maneuver my arm and sleeve to finish unzipping. Not a big deal, it's probably the WaterTight feature that makes the zipper a bit more rigid. I'm comparing this to how easy it was for me in my outgoing Descente jacket. Overall I am very happy with this jacket. I bought it to be my daily jacket for subzero temps and it's been great. We just had a week of -10 with a wind chill of -20 in Toronto and my body is very warm and comfortable in this weather. If you're looking for a winter jacket that is not bulky, Canada Goose, or fur-trimmed, then this is the jacket for you!

I've ordered another. enough said. epic warm insulated snowboarding jacket. used it last year in the cascades and whistler in variable conditions and it performed like a champ. so glad arcteryx is sticking with this jacket for another season - recommend without any reservation. my daily wear go-to canada goose pales in comparison and I find myself wearing this to work on super cold days as well.

I'd been waiting for Arc'teryx to bring out something very warm yet stylish enough for urban as well as mountain use. Patagonia a poor fit for me. The Macai was not available in the UK except from Arc'teryx, but I saw it in Zermatt and it was perfect. For that amount of money you'd want to try it on first! I'm 6'2" tall, 42" chest, 34" waist, and a L, cinched in a wee bit at the drawcord, is perfect. Beautifully cut, not as loose at the waist as some warm jackets. Perfect for standing watching my daughter slalom training, and waterproof enough for Scottish rain. Could have a bit more bling (I bought the black one), taking understatement to extremes, but a great jacket. I think the pockets are fine. My favourite jacket.

I have been trying to find the right all around winter coat for almost 5 years and I have finally found it! Most recently I have tried a Canada Goose, and Helly Hansen Enigma. Neither one can match the overall balance of warmth, venting and light weight. In the Goose, I would overheat if I did anything more than stand still and it was extremely heavy and bulky. I had to move my seat back just to drive. The Enigma was also quite heavy, did not feel as durable, and was not as wind proof as they say. I have been able to stand around doing nothing in the recent Alberta cold front (-40c) with just a base layer and the excellent hood cinched up as well as do moderate activity with only a t-shirt on with the pit zips open in -15c. The warmth to weight ratio is incredible, venting is quite good, the hood is awesome and the build quality is beyond perfect. Basically I have a Goose that I carry around most of the time as it is too warm without any venting and is super heavy and an Enigma that gets left in the closet when it's below -15c due to poor wind resistance. Both cost exactly the same as the Macai. Money very much wasted. Because of the cut and look of the jacket, I have worn it downtown, on occasion, for customer meetings in a business casual setting. Sure beats trying to pretend like I am warm in my wool coats :) I am 5'6, 155lbs muscular/athletic build and fit a medium. Only a couple of small issues with this jacket: 1. for my body type is the small was too tight around the chest/shoulders, but the sleeves are a bit too long on the medium. Not a problem from a usage perspective with the velcro closures on the wrists, but the sleeves bunch a bit 2. I can see this being a bit too warm for those that run really hot. I am pretty average in this department. Great job on this one Arc'teryx!

I bought this jacket hoping for extreme warmth but still usable in active situations. Doesn't matter if I'm standing around or snowboarding, this coat has done it all perfectly for me. Great fit for someone wanting warmth, with much less bulk than Canada Goose. I would never return to Canada Goose after seeing the superior design of this coat. so far, it has been durable, and the GORE-TEX is just another huge bonus to add to the Macai .

The Macai Jacket is comfortable, well made and warm. It has one downfall, the zippers. The zippers are not designed very well to use with a gloved hand. The front zip is not too bad, but the pocket and pit zips require to remove my gloves or ask a friend to assist by holding the end of the zipper while it is opened or closed.
