I waited to write my review after wearing this jacket for a few weeks of skiing in the white mountains of NH in January. I have been cold historically when skiing. I have tried a lot of ways to stay warm- hotronics electric boot heaters in my ski boots, three layers on the bottom, three layers on the top. Yet, I remained cold and often needed to go in to warm up. But Eureka, not anymore! I paired this jacket with insulated bibs (good ones are hard to find if you are reading this Arcteryx design folks, wide open market.) The last two weekends have featured winds in the 35-50mph range and a real feel temp of -10 to -15 Fahrenheit. I was actually sweating when doing powdery bump runs and my hair was sticking to the back of my neck. So I am here to tell you, if you love to ski but get cold, this is the jacket for you. I know the price is steep but I had my last shell for nine years and pretty sure I won't regret buying this. One more comment, I love that the hood fits over my helmet, it is another way to stay warm. The arm zipper is perfect for a credit card and car key. One more thing, this shell is NOT super crunchy and stiff. Not quite buttery smooth but definitely not stiff like a hard shell.

Purchased the jacket last year in black size S. It is a pretty warm jacket and has kept me dry in rough conditions. Recommend going a size up if you're someone that likes to layer. I like that there is a card zipper on the lower arm sleeve which makes scanning my lift pass easy. I do find if you're someone that puts things in your pockets (inner and outer) I do find the jacket bulks up a litte weird and feels tight. The downside of this jacket is that it needs more colours. Not necessarily "feminine/infant' colours, but just greater variety like green and blue. While the jacket was intended for snowboarding, on rainy days, it's my go to jacket when walking around town.

This is a very warm jacket. I was eying the Andessa jacket for a few years now but it was only available up to size large previously. I was glad to see they added extra large this year. I find it's warm enough to wear just a base layer underneath on even the coldest days . Construction is top notch and the Gore-Tex shell keeps you nice and dry. Being almost 6 feet tall I find the jacket a bit on the shorter side for a ski jacket. I ordered Black size in XL and chose to pair it with Sentinel LT bibs in the color Anecdote for maximum coverage. If you are tall I would definitely recommend wearing bibs with this jacket.

A toasty warm jacket for cold or damp west coast weather on the local mountains.

Love this jacket for the cold outdoors where I am moving around. It does exactly what is advertised and looks great with a midlayer underneath. It is warm, but better suited for being active than standing still. I would buy a puffer if looking for warmth for general use. Other reviewers said it runs small and I found this to be true. I am 5'7, 150 lbs and I am always a Medium. I had to buy a Large for the Andessa because the chest was too tight (and I am small chested)! Even though the fit is trim, I would still recommend sizing up if you want to wear layers.

Beautiful, lightweight jacket. Easy to roll up and pack. I like the warmth of the puffy, down interior paired with the waterproof exterior.

This is a great jacket. I took it up with me when I went up to Nunavut and it was able to keep me warm. It is also super lightweight, making it easy to move around in. I found the number of pockets super useful in holding heating packs, gloves, toques, and they were easy to access. I had an xs and it was slightly roomy. It allowed me to layer up underneath comfortably. Definitely recommend

Wore my new jacket for the first time and it didn't disappoint! I didn't feel cold or wind at all and thoroughly enjoyed the protection over my helmet too! This jacket is very well-designed.

Great comfortable jacket. Warm and flexible. Great to be able to wear one jacket. Will wear when I watch son play soccer.

My mom recently bought this jacket for me as an early birthday gift and can I say WOW this jacket is amazing. I typically wear layers (long sleeve, hoody and a down jacket) and it doesn't keep me warm but the Andessa jacket alone with the a long sleeve keeps me toasty in -20 degree weather with wind chills. The sizing is spot on and fits extremely well.

Just back from Zermatt, where my beloved skied in her new Arc'teryx Andessa jacket. Not just the coolest jacket on the slopes, stunning in black with a raspberry colour lining, but warm as toast , even when -18C and 100 km/h winds! Totally elegant cut, she looked just the business! Wears it all the time in the city too.

I love the Andessa Jacket! The sheen of the fabric combined with the center front flap and self cuff tabs gives this jacket a unique & classy look. The Andessa's combination of Gore-tex and Down always leaves me feeling comfy and dry.

Bought this as a gift for my mother and it is a very well made jacket. The combo of down and waterproof outerlayer was exactly what we were looking for. Also, the look is very versitile that it can be worn at the resort and not look like a typical ski jacket. The black with satin magenta inside has a great look.

The material is really wonderful, really well constructed! I just wish it was a bit more fitted. The shoulders are too wide and the torso is too long. I am slim, 5'4, 115lb's and it's not form-fitting enough. I am a snowboarder so I need the jacket to be a bit roomier but this was too roomy. Also, I wish the color options were better!! The men's orange had way more pop than the women's option. Most of the women's colors are not that fun! Please offer petite sizing and more vibrant colors!!

Good, not great at keeping me warm skiing in Maine. Wore two Arcter'yx layers underneath, Rho base layer and a hoodie I forget the name of. Was often cold on the lifts. Agree with others that it needs better color options!

Overal this is a good jacket, but its not great and its extrremely overpriced for what you get. I do love the Crimson color and it is a very warm jacket, but caring for this jacket is a full time job. It stains incredibly easy and you cant just wipe it away because of the Goretex. I've accidentally gotten chapstick or greese from my hands on it and it immediately shows and absorbs. Even regular hand soap doesn't work if I'm just trying to get the stain out before it sets. The only thing that works is dawn dish soap. The worst part about this jacket is that it retains odor unlike anything I've ever seen. I think its all of the pores in the gore fabric. I hang my coat on the hall tree by the door next to my kitchen and dining room and whenever I cook or order food it immediately sticks to the jacket FOR WEEKS... Its embarrassing because I ordered Chinese food 4 weeks ago and my jacket still smells so strongly that a check out employee at a grocery store even commented "It smells like Chinese food" of course he didn't know it was me, but I did! I can deal with the coat running a little small, or how easily it stains, but its impossible to deal with the odor retaining goretex. What am I never supposed to be around food ever? It retains the campfire smell as well (which I know most clothes do) but it is extremely disappointing because when I did my research the website specifically said it had odor repellent since this is an outdoor jacket. I will say that I haven't exactly smelt body odor yet, but I'm pretty sure thats only because my jacket smells so strongly of food....

Overall the andessa is a great coat. I've worn it in -30 C and been fine with just a light layer underneath. Even in -10C the most you need with this coat is a base layer. the pit zips are also great to dump heat as you work on hard on ski runs. the sleek design is great and shows well. The only negative I have for this coat is that the wind goes through the main zipper quite easily. So your core gets a bit cold when you face the wind.

I purchased this in a size small in black. I originally purchased the Lilloot in Lime Fizz but its way more puffier looking than the Andessa so I returned it. The Andessa has more lining than the Tiya which I also have so I will be wearing it for colder days- 20 degrees and below. It is a slimmer fit than the Tiya and I will only be wearing a thin base layer underneath. I'm 5'4, 120 lbs (size 2-4 street clothes). My hips are on the narrow side. If the jacket was even 1/2 inch slimmer in the hips the Small would not have fit me. So if your curvier in hips you might want to size up.

I bought the Sunhaven color which is between a burned orange and brown and I regret it every day. It was the brightest color I could find, other choices were very dark. I'm not sure what's behind the design thinking here: men's jackets have way better bright color options and women's are general not even earthy tone, it's muddy tone. Its also not safe on the slope as people could mistake you for a tree or a rock. It's also not as warm as my previous Lillouete jacket, which was in nice bright line green! I tend to get very cold on the slope and I have to wear a down vest under this one. Overall, I'm quite disappointed with this purchase even it is a very nicely made jacket. But it just lacks something to make me really love it!

Nice coat. I ski in Quebec and it's not warm enough. I have to wear an insulated jacket underneath. Pocket zipper broke the second time I wore it. Lack of bright colours over the years. Finally bought the Ephemera colour. On the smaller side. Usually wear S, but sized up to medium. Tight under the arms.

I keep looking at warmer jackets (currently have an Arc'teryx bright orange shell) but for me, visibility on the slopes and in the trees are a requirement. Bright so others can see you.
