I'm a mail carrier and purchased these to wear in place of the postal boots. These fit and look fine, but they are not waterproof as the description states - there's even a waterproof tag on the shoe. I didn't wear them in the rain, and didn't plan on it. I bought these to wear in the morning when the grass is still wet to avoid having soggy socks. Well these didn't hold up to morning dew.

Believe the reviews that say these shoes are NOT waterproof. Saying these shoes are waterproof is a severe misrepresentation by New Balance. I received mine last week. Yesterday was the first trial, a 30-minute walk in light rain. I did no wading and avoided puddles. Just light rain on the shoes. My socks and feet were soaked in less than 20 minutes.

I've been wearing New Balance running shoes for more than 25 years because NB gives you the widths. I ran 4 marathons in my 50s, and I've had no ankle, knee, or other problems then and since. I attribute a lot of that to the shoes, a good set of orthopedics, and good socks. Now that I'm 70, and I walk a little more than five miles every day, I wanted to move on to walking shoes. These are what I expected of NB: excellent fit, look good (my 5-year-old grandson says they're cool), and comfortable. Combined with some thin wool hiking socks, can't be beat. Bring on the Chicago winter.

I ordered these for my elderly father. He needed shoes that offered greater stability than traditional athletic shoes, but still wanted to look stylish. He LOVED these!

They seem to be really nice hiking boots, but the New Balance 4E width is a narrow 4E. Had this problem with other NB boots; wish they would offer boots in 5E & 6E.

Why did I wait so long to switch from boots to these? Spent the last few years wearing Red Wings, Whites, Rockies, and Danners. Why? I spend 95% of my time getting in and out of a car and walking. I don’t put boot to door much or stomp around in the woods so tactical boots are hugely an overkill for me. These fit the bill perfectly. So much lighter than a traditional duty boot. My feet are so much happier at the end of the day. These have just enough support around the ankle to work without compromising safety. If you’re looking for tacticool, this isn’t it. These are about as sexy as nurse shoes. But who cares? It’s almost like a tennis shoe or what we used to call cross trainers. The point is to be comfortable all day without having anybody look twice at your footwear.

A great walking shoe/boot. It has replaced my regular New Balance walking shoes. Comfortable, roomy, without being loose. I could walk all day in these. Going to get a back-up pair before some "genius" comes up with a redesign.

Overall happy with this purchase. These shoes are not quite as comfortable as some of the other brands I've had, but I like the look.

I found these shoes to be just what I need: Good cushion. Good fit. I hope they are durable too. Only time will tell.

I was looking for an everyday show with good ankle support, these fit that bill. I use Superfeet for my horrible arches. I am not a fan of waterproof shoes, not trekking about in the rain, I find them to be to warm and not as "breathable" as non waterproof shoes. Over all happy with the shoes, will see how feet feel about the lack of breathability in June in Vegas.

Immediately uncomfortable. Very stiff, heavy, and smelly. Felt like Frankenstein's monster trying to walk in them. Very un-New Balance in the feel. Maybe because I'm used to the 990 series. These were a big mistake for me.

Fit excellently, feels great on my feet. Definitely water-resistant, I often walk through light snow, wet grass, even an inch of water on the shoreline without anything leaking through to my socks. I've been wearing these daily for about a year, and although the pattern on the soles is down to bare, the shoe itself is holding up fantastically. I can honestly say this is the best pair of shoes I've ever bought.

My husband loved them! He is hard to shop for when it comes to shoes.

Awesome mid-high boots. Great for hiking or work. Sturdy and comfortable. The best!
