ok. I love the look of this boot. I cannot really give a good review and am returning them. But I wanted them to work because I like the look and I like how well it felt to have been made. However, and here's where it came apart for me; I have a very normal sized calf, not big and round like a ballerina AT ALL. But there was no way to zip these pups up and have the lacing remain attractive with the offset style. Way too little to accommodate my leg and I let the laces out to see how far I would have to go to accommodate wearing these. The boot no longer looked tasteful and the entire diagonal lacing feature was now almost straight up my leg with a really unsightly wide lacing as it went up the boot. IF you have skinny legs, these are going to work and they are going to look good. If you have an ample calf, they are not. Again, my calf is not oversized at all and it just won't work. But really like this boot. Disappointed to be a non-fit for it.

I have long narrow feet and these boots fit PERFECTLY. I also am 5'11 and I have calves with a 15" circumference. If I didn't let out the lacing at all, yes, these would be far too narrow for any human's calves, but if you let out the laces to fit YOUR calf, not only does it still look great, it allows you to adjust all parts of the boot to fit your needs. I wanted something with really good structure in the boot itself, which is what i got with these. They're also tall enough to cover my whole calf, ending just an inch or two below my knees. Haven't worn them outside yet, but I'm optimistic. It also seems like solid construction so they're worth the investment.

These are great boots! They look great and keep my feet dry and warm! I read reviews about how the shaft was tight around the calves. This is not an issue if you loosen the lacing. The laces are meant to be adjustable for your own personal fit. The foot size does run small. I wear a 10 but ordered an 11 and they fit great!

Great for larger calves! They may be 15 inches round, per spec, (measurement was correct), but the tongue inset adds up to another easy self adjustable 5.25 inches, if you need it. And my large ones needed it! Great solid hiking boot base shoe that will last. Also the size 11, even with this rugged design looks smaller, not like clod hoppers, like a grandfather would say. I wear a 10 or so but always for the next higher size and these are True 11s. A soft gel orthotic would fit fine in there, or thicker soaks. Beautiful quality and worth the investment. Yes, the laces expand per your calf width, but it does not warp the look - what's with the body loathing on some comments? Definitely an "on the snow boot" per one comment, not like Sorrel, etc, but for this rare look, grab them while still manufactured!

The reviews said they ran small so I ordered a half size larger than I normally wear and I'm glad I did because I would not have been able to wear my regular size. Out of the box they were laced up really tight. Once I loosened them, the boots fit really well. The zipper is a bit stiff. I think it will break in. I anticipate wearing these warm and sexy boots for years to come!

I agree with the reviewer who said the lacing was a bit tight with her normal sized calf. Also having a normal sized calf, the boot was a bit tight. I played with the tongue a little (with foot in boot, zipped), and that somehow worked some magic and freed up some space, making the boot fit MUCH better. I’m anticipating getting a lot of use out of these here in Chicago- will be able to write more with wear (hoping that’s a little ways off, though).

To be clear, these are for walking ON snow, not IN snow. Waterproof materials, but not waterproof as in keeping your feet dry. The tongue floats freely and is not secured to the boot except at the toe. So snow & water and whatever else will get in. As others pointed out, the shaft is crazy narrow. Which was one of the reasons I ordered it -- I have skinny calves and rarely ever find anything, let alone a snow boot that I don't rattle around in like a toothpick in a jar. But even I had to loosen the laces before I could zip the boot! Cool looking, but..... everything else - not so much.

These boots are so cute, you're going to purchase them too and hopefully you have really skinny calves because they were actually fitted for a giraffe, not a human being. Seriously Woolrich, you've been around too long and should know better! I returned mine when I could not even begin to get the zipper up over thin socks with my average sized calves. Bummer.

If you have big calves.....don't buy them. I have thin calves and they are snug, very thick. I can adjust the laces and make sure you fix the tongue as it moves. They are very cute and different. I wear a 6 1/2 to a 7 most shoes, i bought a 7 and they are snug, won't be able to wear socks with them which is fine.

WOOLRICH: PLEASE CONSIDER A REDESIGN OF THE HEEL CUP. I loved these online, loved them in my house during the trying on, they fit me just right, but then as I walked around in them, the heel cup chewed up my heel worse than I've ever experienced. I've broken in multiple pairs of Danskos, dance shoes, sandals, heels...all kinds of shoes...this was agony. I'm down to break in some shoes, but for the price, I don't have time, nor can I afford to manage the pain these caused. Back to Zappos they go.

Super still footbed. I ordered a half size up and could barely get my foot into the shoe. I ended up unlacing quite a bit to get my foot in AND get it zipped up. Once I got them on, they were so still and uncomfortable, I had to take them off after just a few minutes of walking around my house. I wanted SO BAD to love these! The look is amazing.
