I tried on at least 15 jackets (North face, Patagonia, Eddie Bauer, Marmot, Canada Goose) and this jacket is the winner! This why I like it: (1) it's really warm, (2) the material in gray is soft and pliable and does not make noise when you move (the material of this coat in black is different. I liked the feel of the gray better.) (3) it has a depth adjustor for the hood so you can wear the hood an see where you are walking (4) it has soft felt inside the neckline so no chaffing your chin lik the NF parkas. (5) you can cinch the wastline inside the jacket so you do not look like you are wearing a sleeping bag. (6) it has a nice shape and the fur on the hood is very pretty. I literally tried close to every coat on the market in the $200-400 range and even a Canada Goose and I am thrilled with this jacket. Thank you Zappos!!

I've been searching for a warm winter parka for months now. One that will keep me warm and doesn't break the bank! It almost seemed like an impossible task! I've tested other expensive brands and TNF arctic parka II & Outer borough parka and was not impressed. They are so stiff and hard to move around in it. So glad to stumble upon the soujourner. I seriously couldn't be happier. This jacket is very well-made with all the little details carefully thought of!! Here are why I like this jacket: - Warm without feeling bulky and heavy. I've tried other parka that was really warm but it weighed like 4 lbs!!!! good grief!! I'm not sure the weight of this, but it's not heavy but feels substantial! I tested it on a 14 degree MN winter with just wearing a thin long sleeve inside and I was warm wherever covered by the coat. Not sure about the subzero temp, but looking at the quality, I think it will keep me warm too. - The shell is actually soft and easy to move around in this jacket compared to other brands I've tried that is so stiff. It's also water and wind-resistant. The shell has a bit of shine to it, but not overly done. I was worried about it after reading another reviewer mentioned that, but it actually looks ok. The heather grey color may not have that shine if it really bothers you! I really don't mind it as it doesn't really overwhelm the overall look when I put the jacket on. - Easy zip detachable hood and detachable faux fur. Other jackets I've tried will show the snap buttons after you detach the faux fur, but not this. The buttons will not be showing if you detach the faux fur. Minor details that they thought of! Well done! The faux fur is actually attractive without being so oversized - So many pockets! Two-button pockets to store any essentials (one pocket comes with key hanger too!)and two hand-warmer pockets with zips. One inside pocket and goggle pocket! - A two-way zipper is a must for me for a jacket this length. The YKK zipper is easy to work with and smooth. The storm-flap has snap buttons that are strategically placed so I don't have to button so many buttons yet I'm covered (again, another well-thought detail) - Adjustable waist. I love having this feature. I can cinch it so the jacket feels close to me and feel warmer. The jacket doesn't flare out after cinching. At least not in my case. - Fit. It has a flattering fit and drape nicely for me. I'm 5'3" 107# and ordered size 2 regular and it fits perfectly with some room for layering if I want to. The jacket comes down to mid-thigh with slightly longer back and doesn't make me look like I'm drowned in it. - Color: I got the wine-not (because it's on sale :) ) and it's a really nice dark maroon color. Not loud while still pretty neutral and not boring like typical black, and easy to go with other colors. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the quality and craftsmanship of this jacket. Very well made indeed! I've always felt like I had no choice but to go with TNF for winter coats, this is my first Obermeyer and I'm impressed and will certainly be purchasing more in the future from this brand!

This is an amazing coat that feels good, is warm, and is stylish. My friend saw it and immediately wanted one for herself. The only thing "wrong" is that the sizing runs VERY SMALL. I had to send the 12 back for a 14, and I have never worn a 14 in anything in my life (and I'm 65). And the 14 is not big on me. Zappos was amazing in getting the first coat to me in one day (with Prime shipping) and sending the exchange before my first coat was received by them. Within less than 48 hours of my first order, I had my second coat! Thanks!

This coat is beautiful. I returned it as it was a little snug, not leaving room for a warmer, winter shirt underneath. I'm 5'5", 135 pounds, and ordered a size 8. I'm not sure if I'll order the next size as I would like to find one that isn't quite as long.

I'm one of those people that's constantly cold. This is the first coat that I actually feel warm in. The price was definitely more than I wanted to spend, but it was worth it as the coat is warm, comfortable, stylish and surprisingly flattering. Regarding size, I typically wear a women's size 4 in tops, but I'm busty and stick to knits. For this coat I went by their measurements. My bust measurement is 37" so I got a size 10. Plenty of room to layer without feeling constricted or comically puffy. And unlike so many other coats I tried, the upper arms aren't insanely bulky. I did remove the faux fur trim though as it's not my taste.

I was considering The North Face Arctic Parka II, but it was heavy and the hood didn't come far enough forward for me. I found the Sojourner while searching for comparable options, and I love it so far. The difference in quality was dramatic, with lots of little details that make a big difference (the pockets, the fleece neck lining, the fabric for the cuffs, etc. are much better in the Sojourner). I initially ordered the Wine color, but the fabric had a sheen to it and was noisy. I ordered a Charcoal version, and kept it; the fabric is much softer and quieter. Size-wise, I ended up having to size-up for the jacket to fit my shoulders. (I typically wear a size 2, sometimes a 4, but needed a 6 for this jacket - I'm 5'7", 130lb with broad shoulders.) I haven't had the jacket very long but have been comfortable in various conditions with just a thin shirt underneath (upper 30s with very wet snow/rain & wind chills in the low 20s).

I LOVE THIS JACKET!!! I've worn it almost everyday since it arrived. It's cute, comfortable and warm. My husband said this is the first jacket in 20 years that has kept me from complaining about how cold I am. I absolutely recommend it! I may even buy it in another color.

I LOVE this jacket. I've tried on many different brands including the North Face parkas and found the quality and comfort of Obermeyer to be superior. The zipper comes up to the perfect spot under the chin, the collar is extremely soft and comfortable, the slinky sleeves will keep wind out and are really soft and the hood stays up and is the perfect size. I especially like that the faux fur is removable as well as the entire hood. The best part is that it comes in many different sizes rather than S, M, L. This jacket is heaven. I'd sleep in it if I could.

This coat does not fit as shown in photos. Obermeyer brand has great quality of fabric and finishes but this coat is so over stuffed with down that it is stiff and does not drape, creating bell shape on the bottom. Not very flattering and all that down also makes it very heavy.

Very nice coat, had to return due to size :( just too long for me at 5'0''. Next year will look for petite size in same coat. Not as puffy as other down coats.

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
Great jacket! I am familiar with Obermeyer brand and love my Obermeyer ski jacket i bought last year. This year, I realized I was desperately in need of a new every day winter coat. I looked at moose knuckles and Canada goose - both of which are beautiful - but couldn't find myself to swallow the price tag. I came across this jacket by accident when looking at my favorite online ski shop (but was sold out in my size so came to zappos). It is great! I have worn it on days it was 8 or 12 degrees here and was warm! The gray is great and soft. Great pockets for gloves, phone, etc. I also like this jacket comes in specific number sizes (vs S, M, L) so you can get more exact fit. I went with my same size as my Obermeyer ski jacket (size 8. i'm ~155# and 5'7"). it is a little fitted, which i wanted, but still fits totally fine if i'm wearing sweater, etc underneath. I could maybe have a tiny bit more room and sized up to 10, but I am working to lose 10 pounds again so kept the size 8 :) Even my husband thought it looked great and fit well and loos more expensive than it really is - and he's picky. My only "wish" is I do wish it had just an extra inch or so of length.

Beautiful jacket with nice attention to details. Lots of practical pockets, soft fleece in all the right places, nice options with the hood design. Fits a little tight in the upper arm area and I never have problems with fit in that area. Runs slightly small. I usually wear size 8, I ordered size 10, based on other reviews. I'm happy with the fit. I really like the front snaps instead of velcro.

Beautiful Jacket. Got the grey. Lots of soft pockets, nice fitting hood, adjustment snaps everywhere. The down makes it sound softly crunchy, but I like that. It is warm and of high quality. The only thing negative I would say is my daughter normally wears a size 2. We ordered a 4 and it was too small. Exchanged for a 6 so I would say this jacket definitely runs small in the chest/under arm area especially. Other than small sizing, it is perfect.

This jacket fit so nicely. I typically wear a size 12 or a large. The actual size 12 was a little snug, so I opted for the size 14. Not too big and fits nicely. Well made and cute jacket. Also very warm. I’m 5’5”, 175#.

Love, love, love this jacket. Super warm, not bulky, and fits true to size. I wear a 4 in pants and a small in tops and the 4 in the jacket fits. Well worth the price, especially compared to comparable brands. Cheers!

This coat runs a bit small, I usually wear a 4, but went up to a 6 and it fit well. It is made soooo well . The neck lining is very soft , not too high. The hood fits well and the faux fur is nice. The zipper works great. It has plenty of well placed pockets. I bought it for a ski trip in the northeast and if we lived where it was colder, I would definitely keep it. The coat is soooo warm. I don't think I would get much wear out of it in north Florida for the money. I did however buy the Obermeyer Tuscany II jacket for my daughter and we are keeping that one. It was about $100 less and also made very well and flattering, just not as long. I ordered several coats and really think this one was made better than most. If you live where it is cold I highly recommend it.

Flattering and seems very well made. I wanted a mid weight coat, and hope this will be the one. It’s too warm here now to wear, but with the fur off the hood seems lightweight enough to jump in and out of car, as it’s not too bulky. I chose the burgundy, it’s very nice and will go with anything. The fur hood is also pretty when attached, just not needed for late winter/ spring.

I ordered a size 2 in red and I am 5'2 and 110 pds. Color was a very nice red - not crazy bright. The quality and cut were outstanding and it looked like it would last a long time - very good quality. It looked warm and definitively would withstand wind and rain. It has weight but without being bulky. And I can understand why the previous reviews were so good - much better quality than a TNF. No static in the fabric either. I returned it because I am more a 0P and the size 2 was too big for me - or space to layer? Depends on what you like. But I am still wondering if I should have kept it anyhow. Really, really nice.

Love this brand and will be getting a coat from them but this particular coat is not very pretty in the grey. Prettier in picture online actually.
