These boots are wonderful! I got them in "rich wine" and it's a great color. They are light, comfortable, warm, stylish. So pleased. But, they are no-joke between a half-size and a full-size smaller than my other shoes. I'm between an 8.5 and a 9, so I ordered a 9.5 in these based on the reviews. I thought for sure I'd have to send them back, but the 9.5 fit perfectly, but also snugly enough that I won't be able to wear thick socks with them. I could probably have gone even with a 10, which is crazy. I love Sorel's but they're creating unnecessary confusion with their sizing on these.

I can not say enough positive things about this boot. I purchased these boots originally because I was going to Indianapolis to give support to a friend in the Marathon last weekend and I knew I was going to be walking a lot that day and it was going to be cold. I covered over 6 miles in this boot and my feet stayed completely warm and comfy, like if I had on a pair of sneakers. They superseded my expectations! I am 52, so I don't have young feet. They are stylish and soooooo comfortable, which is hard to find together. Sizing: I ordered an 8 and 8.5 based on the previous reviews. I am a 7.5 in most shoes and usually size up to an 8 in boots to accommodate thicker socks. I tried both sizes and the 8 fit me best, just like my Sorel Joan of Arctic Wedge boots. I have a normal width foot and these were perfect, even with my thicker socks. There was no break in period needed. I love Sorel boots and I love Zappos for their amazingly fast shipping and service!

I had to get a full size larger of these cute boots because they are small and narrow. The toe box is narrow. I took out the insoles that came with them and put in very thin ones that are cushier. But they are attractive and warm and Zappos's has excellent customer service especially cause I sent a few small pairs back!

Seem very comfortable. I have a Morton's neuroma and have to be very careful about my shoes and boots. These feel good and look cute. Hopefully they will be warm and comfortable enough to walk long distances. I chose to keep the wine color for variety but the black and grey are also both nice.

Such a cute boot! However, so far this fall, it seems no matter what I order, they all run short. This is using lightweight socks! Normally a 9-9.5 works (since I wear between an 8.5-9), but I’m going to have to send things back and start over with size 10’s!

These are my first Sorels and I LOVE them! I was between these and a pair of Uggs and I’m happy with my final choice. I’m wearing these boots in New York and they have kept my feet super warm and dry. I’m normally a 7 1/2 (sometimes 7) and read many reviews saying to size up. Usually I’m skeptical about sizing up because I also have narrow feet but I’m glad I did! I bought a size 8 and have about a thumb size amount of room near the toe box. I highly recommend these stylish shoes. I hope to have them for a long time.

this is a really nice light boot - however, it is narrow. I sadly have to return them.

Before ordering these I read several reviews. The advice to order one size up and is correct. My actual foot size is 8 medium. Size 9 is just right and accommodates medium weight socks.

Explorer Joan boot is probably my favorite Sorel boot, thus far. The boot runs at least 1/2 size smaller or a bit more, depending on your foot. Width is adequate for a medium size foot. I wear a 10 1/2 sneaker & always go up to the 11 in this boot. The toe box is my biggest concern & there are some Sorels I cannot wear because there is no 11 1/2. I bought this boot in the color Coal & it's a beautiful mixture of gray with muted black. Sometimes, I don't wear socks with these boots, because the lining provides adequate warmth. Comfort level is great & can be worn in the summer, depending on your climate. I'm coastal, so I need that waterproof quality at all times. Water will not penetrate the inner boot unless the depth of water treaded is over the boot top and then, I just dry them out=back to normal comfort, but I try to resist going in too deep. No snow here, but it would work in slippery and snowy conditions. I love this boot and will repurchase in another color. Highly recommend, but remember to go up in size and your feet will be grateful you did. The pic is of the Quary color, from winter 19, but as you can see, they've held up well. I'm wearing my new coal Sorels tomorrow for a holiday beach event. Love my Sorels.

Wanted to love this shoe but I felt like they were too lose around my the base of my ankle and not sure if they were to large at my front of my toes. They are a bit bulky wanted to love these so bad for my trip to Europe. Maybe I'm just not used to wearing boots around my ankles that tie up.

I read that you should go a size up and I would agree (my friend bought some and she did too). They were perfect! I walked a lot but also wore wool socks, and my feet never felt cold and they were super comfy.

Well, I have another Sorel in 9 and I usually wear an 8W or 8 1/2. According to the reviews this one is on the smaller side so I decided to order the 9 1/2. It fits nicely. I like to change the insoles into something more supportive and the extra space allows me to do that (they have removable insoles). I like the style and it feels comfortable. I just need to wait for the snow now... hopefully they are truly waterproof.

I really like this style for winter boots. They are waterproof, stylish and quite comfortable. I have another pair and went up half a size, just to allow for heavier socks in the cold climate. I have them in black and decided to try the grey. I do like them, but not as much as my black ones. The white sole was not as appealing to me, so I am returning them. I would recommend them for cold, snowy climates.

love these! i ordered a few colors and sizes for this winter season and decided on the camel brown in a 9. i bought these in gray last year and they ended up being my most worn boot in the winter. they are still extremely warm and great for snow but not as bulky as regular winter boots so they quickly became my go-to living in Minnesota. i would say for sure order a half size bigger than normal - i am an 8.5/9 and in these i kept the 9 but a 9.5 could work too (especially depending on your sock situation). ideally wish i could have them in every color!

I sized up 1/2 size and they fit perfectly. These boots are so perfect for Iowa winter and are my new favorite. Got them a couple days ago and have worn them every day since!

I just got these in today and I am in LOVE! They arrived about 30 minutes before I left for work. I couldn’t wait to wear them. I brought an extra pair of shoes to work in case they were not comfortable, I still have them on 10 hours later! I would sleep in them if I could! I usually wear a 7.5 but I ordered these in an 8. I’m so glad that I did! The 7.5’s would have been too snug. Size up a bit if you buy these, and you should buy these! Everyone needs these boots!

I originally went up a half size to accommodate thicker socks, but that wasn't even enough for regular-thickness socks. I swapped those for a pair one full size up, and they're better but not nearly as generous as you'd expect a full size up to fit. They're crazy comfortable and really cute in person, I would just recommend going up AT LEAST 1/2 size for normal socks and a full size or more if you live in a really cold climate and want to wear heavy socks.

Waited to review until I wore them to two fall soccer tourneys in MN....they win! Toasty warm, on the narrow side when you first wear them but they kinda conform to your feet. Keepers!

These boots are really comfortable and lightweight. I normally wear an 8.5 in Sorels (I have both the Lea Wedge and the Joan of Artic Wedge Mid), but the 8.5 was just a little short and I needed the size 9. Excited to have a snow boot for light snow!

I am giving this a 4 star because getting the right size took 3 trys. This is my 3rd pair of Sorel boots so I thought I was good ordering the size of my other boots, 7. (I am typically a 7 in all styles, sometimes a 6.5 in ballet flats or sandles). I ended up with an 8! I read the reviews but since I have Sorel boots already (different varieties of the Joan no less) I figured I was good ordering the same size... Wrong. However, once I got the correct size it felt like walking on clouds! I was looking for a walking boot to wear on my 1/2 mile daily walk to and from my bus stop and the mile I walk my dog after work. These boots are so comfortable and definitely keep my feet warm (so far tested in 13 degrees F). They are not heavy like the typical Sorel boot. I bought the Coal color the main color is more grey then shown and the accent color almost has an olive tone to the grey. I love the Joan style it is fashionable yet functional!

Exactly what I wanted-- I know these will last for years! So comfy, and really cute with leggings or skinny jeans.

I absolutely love these toasty boots. They are stylish, practical and lightweight and perfect for days when you don't want to wear heavier winter boots. They look great with jeans or sweats. However they are suede so, like all boots, I highly recommend spraying them 2x with silicone sealant after you've committed to purchase and before wearing.
