The Torrent carried me - at age 55 - to a 2d Overall finish in a four-marathons-in-four-days winter challenge on the Navajo Nation. From deep sand to slick rock, up and down more than 2,000' per day of fresh snow, frozen hard scrabble and thawing gooey clay mud - there was literally nothing this shoe won't do comfortably, safely and quickly. Not one fall in 104.8 miles of winter fun.

Love the light weight, stability, traction, and "rubber band" above sole that helps keep sand/snow/water but above that is very breathable. I use these on mountain trails, including packed snow and love the stability and traction they provide. Impressed with the heel cup when climbing steep grades. Really keeps my heels from slipping in the shoes.

This is my 4th pair of Hokas. They fit like a glove and I love the traction that the trail running shoes provide in snowy Minnesota. I don't trail run, I use them for their grip. I wish there would be more color options.

Great fit, true to size and very comfy. The ride is soft but not too plush and is great for off and on road running. This is my 4th pair of Hoka shoes, and these are my favorite. I wear these to a cardio work out class and they work well there too.

I play highly competitive senior softball. This shoe is amazing! Comfortable with fantastic support. Traction is excellent too. Unlike the Hokas with the fatter heel, this gives you cushion without the lift. Feet feel great throughout along weekend of a tournament. Used to wear Solomon but these are my new go to softball shoes!

Straight out of the box, I ran The RUT 50K in Montana, which has 10,500 vert gain (and equal vert loss) with incredibly technical terrain. The shoes were amazing, and I have no regrets about using them. I've only got about 90 miles on them now (I shoot for 70 mile weeks) but they seem to hold up super well. I've been running in Clifton's and Speed Goat 2's for the past six months, which are super cushy, and while I like them both, the Speed Goats are pretty heavy. The Torrents are very light and have a more roomy toebox as well as room in the arch area, especially compared to Clifton 5's, just to give readers a comparison. Gonna be a go-to model if Hoka (hopefully) does not try to update this shoe! Prolly would work for most 50 milers, and strong runners would easily be able to run a 100 in them without any threat of injury or getting beat up.

Overall I am extremely pleased with the Torrent. The fit, weight, traction, and energy return have been ideal for running trails and surprisingly roads in the Bavarian Alps. I would not change a thing about this shoe (actually, some darker color options would nice.) I believe HOKA got it right the first time around, and I will keep coming back if this model stays consistent.

I am super pleased with these shoes - they have plenty of room in the toe box and excellent padding. I have used on both the street and trails with these and they worked great on both. They are a tiny bit big (I wear size 12 in all my other running shoes (Brooks, Mizuno) and I have a size 12 in these) - I went to a little thicker sock from Balega versus my usual thinner running socks and they are quite comfortable (thus, don't buy a size up). I liked the drop in these versus a couple of other Hokas that I tried on - I would recommend that you try a pair on if the drop changes from what you usually wear.

Awesome shoe right out of the box. I use these on very rugged technical trails in the mountains just outside Las Vegas. I was surprised how much room my forefoot has in these as I just had to return a pair of speedgoats that gave me terrible blisters. Pretty positive I just found my new dedicated trail runner.

I never wear Hoka due to its too big outsole. I've bought my first pair last week, the new Torrent. It is amazing since five training I have to confess that is perfect shoes for my feet. There are fit very well with enough space for my feet and the global size is perfect. It is really confortable and dynamics. The stability is amazing. It is a really good job and I hope I will buy Hoka shoes from now for running and trail. But It could be more perfect if you can adapt the tongue of the shoes of the Hoka Mafate Evo and shorter lace. Please don't change all the specifications of this shoes for the next one. Thank you

Low drop and extremely comfortable on the trail. Best of both worlds. Very light. Love this shoe. It's a bit better suited for wider feet too, I believe. Salomon and some other well liked trail shoes tend to feel stiff and tight to me so if you have slightly wider feet this may be a good shoe for you to look into.

I recently raced the Speedgoat 50km in this shoe and it worked great! It is nice and light and the traction is very solid on rocks and dirt and in mud. I will use this at the Pikes Peak Mountain marathon race as well. I like how the shoe has a supportive amount of cushion, but still feels nimble and isn't too bulky.

Great traction and stability. Better than expected on technical terrain. They don't roll over at all - feet stay firmly rooted. Just enough cushion for going long distances in the mountains. Dry really well.

I was in need of new trail shoes and was torn between these and the Speedgoat. My local running store did not have them so I took the risk of ordering online. So far I love them. I've only had them a few weeks and have about 100 miles on them but so far no issues. I was doing some shorter ultras and would get foot pain usually around mile 35 so I decided to give hoka a shot. I bought some road shoes (Clifton's) last year as I was living far from trails and did more road running and unfortunately they just didn't work well for my feet from the get go (tendon pain within the first few miles). Now being back near the trails, I decided to give them another shot as I'm looking to do my first hundred miler next year and wanted the extra cushion. These feel really good on my feet, no PT tendon issues like I had with the Clifton's. They feel very agile and light given the amount of cushion and no issues with stability on technical trails. Tread is also very grippy and doesn't cause pressure points. For me the toe box is perfect but I do have narrow feet so may be tight for some. True to size as well. I've worn them on the trail, track and treadmill and they're comfortable on all surfaces. Looking forward to see how they hold up when the mileage gets longer but so far so good.

This shoe eats up any terrain from technical East Coast trails to hard packed dirt roads. It even performs remarkably well on pavement. It's well cushioned even though this is supposed to be a racing shoe. The fit is a little loose but I didn't have any issues from it. I have one 30 mile and one 40 mile run on them and they're holding up well so far.

Really enjoyed these shoes. They gave me great underfoot grip and made me feel fast both uphill and downhill. The toe box is a little bit wider and fit my foot nicely.

Was excited for this Speed Instinct "replacement" as it looked to carry over everything I love about that one and add some aggressive tread which I need up here in the Northwest. So excited I ended up running with it almost out of the box for the bighorn 100 miler. Ran with it for the first 80 miles then switched to the instinct. It performed great in the sloppiest mud you can imagine. The tread was solid and super grippy. The cushion was soft in the heal and responsive in the front. The roomy more natural square cut toebox is great as I didn't have any side soreness or toe bashing/pinching in the front. The shoe drained well and the upper fit is confident inspiring to take on any distance at any speed.

I took the new HOKA Torrent on 40 mile spin out of the box and I am really impressed. They are roomier both in length and width than let's say a HOKA Speedgoat 2. Of course, they are less cushy but they are super nimble and comfortable. Traction is great whether it's on sandy inclines or more technical stuff, the Torrent can handle it all.

In the past I've worn the Challenger ATR, Speed Goat, and Speed Instinct. The Torrent is the most comfortable of them all, light, best tread of any Hoka I've worn, and fits true to size as well. I has the perfect balance of responsiveness and cushion. I have done several runs ranging from 6-10miles and am planning on using these for XTERRA events. I have yet to do a run greater that 10 miles so that remains to be seen but would highly recommend the Torrent!

I have been trying to think of anything negative to say about the Torrent and I just can't yet..I only have about 60 miles on the Torrent so far so maybe something is coming but right now the Torrent is killing it for me. It does everything I need it to do so far. I have raced a super technical muddy 1/2 marathon with stream crossings (they drain well), above knee deep mud, obstacles, east coast rocks and a long road section and the Torrent was up for the challenge and then some. I have hiked with our dog, Rosie and Torrent was like yawn...and I have run commuted to work in pouring rain and floods and the Torrent was grippy so you don't slip but still feels like you can run on the roads without a crazy giddy up in your stride. I am really digging this shoe and can't wait to test it for some longer distances like 50 or 100 miles.

The fit and size is true to the description. I wore Adidas Stan Smiths from the time I was a teenager and just rotated a new pair in when I needed to. A friend tipped me to these Hoka One One Torrents. I'd given up long walks because my feet and knees would ache. Once I stepped into these Torrents I was able to exercise again. They are a marvel.

The fit and size were great for me (although I am a female with large feet). This is my second pair of Hoka one one shoes, and I am pretty satisfied. These do not feel like they have as much support and my previous pair (I have no idea what style they were). Walking is quite comfortable for me with flat feet. I am happy that these are not too squishy. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase.
