I have been wearing Mizuno Wave Riders for years. This is the first pair I have been a little unhappy with. Good looking shoe - love an all-black athletic shoe. Initially great comfort right out of the box (I buy 9.5 – my normal shoe size is 8.5), but the first time I did a 3.5 mile walk in them, I soon realized that they were nowhere near as cushy as precious models of the WaveRiders. The ball of my foot started hurting, as well as my knees. The worn out WaveRiders I was replacing weren't even doing that. I've gone back to them for power walking while I find a better pair, but since I have walked in the new ones, I am keeping them for running errands. Not good for much else.

I ordered nine pairs of running shoes to try - Asics, Brooks and this one pair of Mizuno. Tried them on without comparing prices or reviews. The Mizuno Wave Rider 22 was the hands-down winner. Exceptional cushioning in the heel (in some of the shoes I didn't feel like my heel really fit down into the shoe). I wear an 8.5 but always size-up in a running shoe; The 9M were a perfect fit. The width of the toe-box, arch support and overall comfort were superior to all the other pairs I tried. I highly recommend the Mizuno Wave.

What a disappointment. I called Mizuno and spoke with a CR and specifically asked if the overall fit of this version 22 was the same as the 21 (which I love). She assured me that the changes were to the outside of the shoe only. WRONG. This footbed is not as cushiony and the toe box is huge and offers on stability. Unfortunately this wasn't apparent to me until after I wore them in a HIIT class. Now I can't return them, but I would if I could. Bummer.

The Wave Riders have always been my favorite long distance / heavy mileage running shoes, and 22 does not disappoint. These fit my wide feet very well even though I bought a pair with the regular width. I also have very high arches and am continually pleased with the arch support the Wave Riders offer. They also very durable and do not wear down quickly under high mileage stress. Love the purple color, I will continue to come back for Wave Riders in the future.

I normally size up 1 size in running shoes, from a 7 in regular shoes, to an 8 in running shoes. These were a bit small for me in an 8, but once I went to an 8.5, they were perfect.

These sneakers are amazing - I walk 3-5miles a day with my 9month old in a carrier and on big hills. They offer great support as I have been prone to shin splints. They are also very supportive for running. Best for those who run on their outer soles.

This is the second pair of this shoe that I've ordered and I LOVE THEM! I wear a 9 1/2 wide - not the easiest size to find. These shoes accommodate the width at the ball of my foot AND my narrow heel. They are the most comfortable athletic shoes I've ever worn, and they look sleek and trendy. I ordered the pretty aqua blue. Performance is excellent.

This is my first pair of Mizunos. They came highly recommended and I am not disappointed! Very plush ride and a great shoe for someone who supinates like me. Definitely size up! I always wear a size 9 in running sneakers but had to return my 9s for 9.5s. The 9.5s fit perfectly. The toe box feels smaller to me than my Brooks Ghosts for my average width foot so just be aware of that. They do have wide widths available.

I always wear a 7.5W in an athletic/running shoe, but that size was too short & tight across the toes. So I tried an 8 Wide and it's perfect! Very soft & plush underfoot, but holds your foot in a stable way, with a very natural stride. I have a high arch and do pronate some, but this shoe does feel secure without feeling stiff. Very comfy ankle collar.

I have the Waverider 20s and these feel wider and longer. I would need to go down a size, however, the toe box was too wide so I will return... Not sure I can wear Waveriders anymore. Side note: I do have slightly wider feet to begin with... (but not wide enough to buy W).

This shoe has good cushion in the heel and forefoot (for HIIT and cardio workouts). They feel great when I’m working out. Several other sneakers I’ve tried made my feet hurt. I’m glad I took other reviewers’ advice to size up, though. I normally wear a 7.5 for street shoes and an 8 for athletic shoes. I ordered an 8 and an 8.5. The 8 was just a little short and tight. I decided to keep the 8.5. Although this shoe has moderate arch support, I wish it was a bit more supportive in this area. Also, the shoe laces aren’t particularly long. I have high arches, and I have JUST enough lace left to tie them.

I have been wearing Wave Riders for many years. Every once in awhile the latest model just doesn't work as well as its predecessor and the WR22's are unfortunately one of those instances. I much prefer the 21's - the 22's feel like they have extra material under the ball of the foot - made it feel as if I was stepping on a rock or something. incredibly uncomfortable. I'll try the 23's when they come out and hope Mizuno fixes the issue. Sizing was the same as always - I always order a half size up from normal shoe size for running shoes. If I was just wearing these for walking or every day wear, I'd go with my normal shoe size.

I exhausted myself reading reviews to determine what athletic shoe would work best for me. I went to Zappos and ordered not one but two of the black Mizunos in a half size larger to accomodate foot spread when walking for health. Pair and a spare - to rotate and lengthen the durability. These fit well out of the box. Style was inconspicuous (being black) that I could wear them to work at my relaxed office. I only got about two months out of these. I never rotated with the second pair and ended up returning that box. The ones I wore now feel like glorified socks. No support. No cushion. I am sorely disappointed. And I am truly sore...I pushed these aside in my closet as I was feeling pain when wearing them for any length of time. I went back to a different shoe in my closet and my feet felt better. Then I wore the old Mizunos when it rained (so as not to ruin my other shoes) and the pain returned. It has to be an issue with the Mizunos. Not recommended.

i'm giving one star for all, just because i was unable to test out the shoe. the width was the real problem, just not wide enough even for a wide. this shoe is not meant to be worn by my feet. the style/cut of the shoe does not match up with my feet.

Love this shoe for jogging. I have mild supination, and tend to get knee pain when I don't replace my shoes frequently enough. I moved to these shoes when Saucony kept changing their Guide series. These have been a fantastic replacement.

I had extremely bad plantar fasciitis and could barely walk. Fleet Feet recommended this shoe and I was able to walk completely pain free. I have narrow feet but it worked without heel slipping. I'm ordering another pair, because the 23s slip on my heels and my plantar fasciitis pain came back. I tried switching to other brands but this is the only shoe that works for me. Please bring it back!!!!
