Looks great, comfortable, and have never had so many compliments of “cool shoes!” I didnt buy them on Zappos but came here looking for another colorway. As stated elsewhere, it is NOT leather or even trying to be - it is more of a waxed linen. They aren’t styled to look like a clean dress shoe or something, they are supposed to have an edgy/semi-sloppy look to them. I dont wear laces in them (and mine did not come with them), because I love the look. They DO slip in the heel though, so i did put some heel anti-slip pads which works perfectly for me. And no, you cant see socks through the lace holes, not sure what that reviewer was talking about. I am wearing white socks in the photos

The fit and size that I ordered was slightly larger than I expected, I ordered a size 10. I'm glad they came with laces, you can't walk around with out them or they will come off, better fit after I added them. Overall the shoe is great looking and I do like the distressed look to them which is one of the reasons they caught my eye. Very satisfied with this purchase.

These look just as great in person as they do online. Note: they're a kind of waxed canvas, not leather. It's hard to see that detail in the stock picture. But they breathe just fine. They're true to size in width; they feel a tiny bit long for an 11.5, but not to the point where they slide on my heel. Lots of compliments!

Very disappointed in these shoes. Should have read reviews. First, they are sized larger than usual. The fact they don't have laces exacerbates the problem as they are very loose. Next, I ordered the midnight and they are more navy blue than black/grey. Third, they are uncomfortable and look odd when worn- the tongue is not large enough so socks kind of see through, and the open lace holes don't have a clean, straight look, they kind of curve in and out. Looks sloppy. Also fabric doesn't look like leather, more of a linoleum. Should have returned immediately.

I returned them! The good: GREAT stying. Maybe one of the best looking shoes ever made? The bad: So uncomfortable that I couldn't wear them. The entire front part of the shoe is great, but the back part that rubs against your achilles is hard and sharp. It almost feels like it's cutting into your skin with each and every step. As much as I loved the look of the shoe, I couldn't handle the discomfort. Sadly I sent them back. :/

I love John Varvatos shoes and boots and yet have always found the sizing to be unpredictable. I ordered these in both the leather and canvas and found I had to go with a full size smaller than what I normally order. Even with this size discrepancy and making the accommodation my heal was very loose and would pop out of the shoe. On the leather model it was incredibly loose.. completely unwearable for me. The canvas model was slightly better but not good enough for me to feel comfortable in the shoes. I give 5 points for the style but unfortunately for me these were not wearable so I had to return them.

I'm a true 12 across the board except chucks (which also run big). I thought I'd try an 11.5 and that was still a full size too big. I just returned them.

I can't comment about the sizing or comfort because they were so ugly I never tried them on. They look plastic. They feel plastic. I have many other Varvatos shoes that I adore, but these don't look anything like the picture. I didn't even take them out of the box. They have a fake leather feel similar to something you might find at Walmart. The finish work is sloppy. I could not have been more disappointed.

Innovative design concept, casual and although I have other Varvatos footwear in my wardrobe, this pair was a MASSIVE disappointment. I love the color & style but it ended there: the leather tongue on the left show buckled when I slipped it on and drove a painful knot into my foot... repeated every tim I slipped iron. The rogue is totally unfitted, will not conform to your upper foot and was seriously not to normal Zappos & Varvatos quality. The tongue is unfinished along each edge which is completely visible when one looks - making the show look like a cheap COPY of a Varvatos design. The molded-on elastomer sole is stiff and uncomfortable - not at all, as billed. The size was correct - but the choice & flexibility of the materials, the craftsmanship and detail fit is well... unfortunate.

Great looking shoes, they run a little small as other reviews will tell you. Not sure how well they will wear over time, but love them for moderate use!

This is extremely comfortable, and very sexy shoe...color, the texture of the leather is outstanding.

These are really nice, high-quality shoes, so you're getting what you're paying for. Order a full size down, trust me. The leather is nice, the design is cool, and the soul has some cushion to it.

Stylish casual shoe. Thankfully, previous reviews were spit on. I’m a legit size 12 in most brands, as well as other John Vervatos shoes and boots. Ordered a size 11. The fit was perfect.

I usually order size 11 for most shoes, but these were a full size too big. I settled on size 10. Order 1 full size down.

These shoes run a full size large, both my husband and my son had to size down. They do come with laces in case you prefer that look.

It’s a very comfortable shoe that could be worn with jeans or even under a suit if you could pull it off

This shoe fits almost 2 sizes larger, my husband wears a 13 and even the 11.5 was too big.

Its a nice sneaker I must say but just a bit loose for me. I order the same size as my converse as advised by customer service. I know I can return it but I just love it so much and its too inconvenient and I am in Canada... I probably will just wear thicker socks. lol!

This is a beautiful shoe. A bit overpriced, but well worth it considering how stunning it is. However, listen to these reviews before you purchase-these shoes are one size too big. Purchase one full-size lower than you usually do. Trust me, if you don’t heed this advice you will be returning them

The fit and size is always a guess.. never a sure thing… my biggest takeaway was the cheap ass or faux leather on a $179 sneaker
